36 GROUTING KEYS TO SUCCESS Pipe must be cleaned first to provide a good seal for the packer. Air test the joint first to make sure it needs grout, unless you are certain. Set the appropriate gel time per size of pipe, and degree of infiltration. CCTV camera must be watching and recording all grouting work. Coding of results in CCTV software. If roots are an issue, add root inhibitor to the grout mix. Use the correct kind of grout for the job (acrylamide, foam, etc). Don t use as a permanent fix for structural issues (breaks). Bid schedules should include setup charge, air test fee, and gallons of grout used.

40 CIPP POINT REPAIRS KEYS TO SUCCESS Pipe must be cleaned of debris and large roots prior to repairs. Any runner or gusher infiltration should be grouted prior to repair. Do a pre-inspection so you know the diameter and length of repair needed, along with precise locations. Do not use if the pipe is collapsed (deformed shape is fine). Compare cost of doing multiple point repairs vs. lining the entire segment.

58 Cementitious Coatings Keys to Success Know the groundwater conditions, and assume the worst! Make sure bedding around the pipe is sound, or add a contingency for stabilizing it. Ensure all cleaning, prep-work, and grouting is done prior to coating. Ensure bypass is in place and in good working order. Set guide wires or screws to ensure design thickness is reached. Set up a containment system to ensure silica dust is captured and doesn t migrate to the public. Use a sealing/curing compound after the last coat to provide a slower cure with slower water loss to prevent cracking. Make C109 cube samples per the standard requirements and perform 24 hr, 7 day, and 28 day break tests to ensure material meets specifications.

73 UV LINING KEYS TO SUCCESS Pre-inspect to verify length, diameter, and laterals to reinstate. Outer foil on liner is the UV protectant (100 mill HDPE) so wont tear liner. This means less prep work to host pipe. Grout major gushers down to drippers as large volumes of water can be trapped behind the liner as the end of the liner inflate first. You always TV right before you cure the UV liner UV protective sheath on the outside protects from light. Material has a 6 month shelf life. TQM controlled and factory set for curing from material contruction through install RFID cue code is read by machine which operates the pressure and light for that liner. Printout for QA/QC generated after the install showing ballast to each light, overall time/speed Final file is reviewed by the factory and they will certify liner was installed per spec.
