1 Bright Steel Processing Lines PMH Series Peeling Lines Heavy-Cut Applications

2 BRIGHT STEEL PROCESSING LINES PMH Series Peeling Lines For heavy cut operations on large diameter bars The PMH series is especially designed to machine i.e. cast, hot rolled or forged bars in the upper diameter range. All common steel grades and special alloys can be peeled. 2

3 The machine design in particular provides following special features: Rigid and vibration damping machine design High torque on hollow shaft over a wide range of cutterhead revolutions allowing cutting depths of up to 15 mm by using appropriate tools Interchangeable toolheads for 4- or 6- toolsets are available upon request Adjustment of the cutting tools over the complete working range Wide variety of exchangeable tool cartridge set-ups Axial movable infeed unit to allow easy access to tools and guides Key Advantages of our new PMH design: High productivity Rigid and vibration damping design with extraordinary power reserve to securely peel forged bars. Shortest change over times Machine is particularly designed to produce small lot sizes. All main machine components work over the complete working range without size dependent parts. Latest design, maintenance and operator friendly - lightweight change-parts like tool cassettes; - spacious tool room assuring an easy reach of tooling; - operator platform to securely stand in the machine for a tool change; PMH350 Cutting Tool in tandem cartridge 3

4 Bright Steel plants timeline 1830 Establishment of the HJ Neuß schen Fabriketablissements needle factory in Aachen Acquisition of the factory by Friedrich Wilhelm Schumacher Sale of the first Combined drawing machine to a German steel plant The company moves to Aachen-Schleckheim Conversion into a public company SMS group acquires the mechanical engineering of complete bright steel lines from Schumag AG. This includes: drawing machines, peeling machines, straightening machines, as well as grinding and polishing machines Shipment of the first WDH peeling machine, manufactured at SMS Meer Engineering (China) Ltd. (SMEC) The bright steel activities come together in the Bright Steel Product Unit, part of the Long Products Division at SMS group GmbH 1994 Acquisition of Th.
