2 Moving on to University Articulation routes The list over the next few pages highlights the articulation routes that are currently available from full-time HNCs and HNDs at Fife College. These are listed by the course studied at the College and the university degrees to which it articulates; these routes allow you to progress to a university course with no loss of time (i.e. HNC to year 2 and HND to year 3). There are other degrees at universities which may offer entry with an HN qualification BUT on these courses you may only be offered entry to year 1. The routes in this guide give you full credit for your HN qualification(s) and will allow you to potentially achieve an Honours degree in four years. Please be sure to check this before you commit to an HN course. This is particularly important if you wish to go to university after having studied an HND as you may not have sufficient funding available to cover the fees for the whole degree. You should also be aware that some universities only offer year 1 entry with an HN, and may also require specific Highers in addition to your HN qualification, so you may not be able to rely on your HN qualification alone. Information can be found on individual university websites or by contacting the universities directly. If you are unsure, help is available at Fife College. Contact degrees@fife.ac.uk Please note: Studying an HN course at college does not guarantee you a place on any of the courses listed here; this is an indication that the university recognises that the content of your HN course gives you the necessary pre-requisites to enter the degree course with advanced standing. Entry to university is competitive and, in most cases, any offer made will be conditional and this is usually related to the grades you need to obtain in the graded units on your HN course. In other cases specific units may also be required to have been passed, or a portfolio/interview may be required. Please ask for more information so that you are aware of all requirements when you start your HN course. Sometimes universities do not enter into agreements with each individual college but do offer generic routes to named degrees for college students studying a specific HN qualification. We ve included these routes in black. Remember! None of the routes shown in this guide offer you a guaranteed place at university.
