PAGE 3 OF 13 INTRODUCTION Aerial bundled conductors and aerial services cables are widely used on City Power s overhead networks for street lighting, electrification projects, maintenance/refurbishment projects and network upgrades. These conductors require suitable pole fittings for attachment onto the different pole types. The pole fittings need to meet the specified technical requirements to sustain the performance and life expectancy of the network. 1 SCOPE The purpose of this specification is to detail the technical requirements to be met when acquiring pole fittings for use with aerial bundle conductor (ABC) and single phase aerial service cable (ASC) on City Power s overhead systems. 2 NORMATIVE REFERENCES The following documents contain provisions that, through reference in the text, constitute requirements of this specification. All standards and specifications are subject to revision, and parties to agreements based on this specification are encouraged to investigate the possibility of applying the most recent editions of the documents listed below. CP_TSSPEC_010, LV ABC with insulated neutral supporting conductor CP_TSSPEC_019, Split-concentric single-phase aerial service cable NRS 018-2, Fittings and connectors for low-voltage overhead power lines using aerial bundled conductors - Part 2: Strain and suspension fittings for insulated neutral supporting conductors NRS 018-4, Fittings and connectors for low-voltage overhead power lines using aerial bundled conductors - Part 4: Strain and suspension fittings for aerial service cables 3 DEFINITIONS AND ABBREVIATIONS The definitions and abbreviations in the above documents shall apply to this specification. 4 REQUIREMENTS 4.1 General General requirements for pole fittings shall comply with the requirements of NRS 018 Parts 2 and Nothing in this specification shall lessen the obligations of the supplier. The supplier shall be fully responsible for the design and its satisfactory performance in service. Acceptance by City Power shall not relieve the supplier of the responsibility for the adequacy of the design.

PAGE 4 OF Conductor size The pole fittings are intended for use on ABC and ASC having sizes as per CP_TSSPEC_010 and CP_TSSPEC_ M16 pigtail bolt The M16 pigtail bolt shall comply with the requirements of NRS KEY 1 Pigtail M16 x 1 2 Nut M16 x 2 3 Round washer M16 x 2 4 Square washer M16 x 2 Fig 1 - M16 pigtail bolt

SPECIFICATION FOR POLE FITTINGS FOR REFERENCE CP_TSSPEC_080 REV 1 PAGE 5 OF M16 eye nut The M16 eye nut shall comply with the requirements of NRS mm coach screw pigtail The 10 mm coach screw pigtail shall comply with the requirements of NRS Strain assembly The strain assembly shall consist of a mounting bracket and a strain fitting The mounting bracket shalll be of a weather-stabilized aluminium alloy material and shall be mountable onto a pole using either an M16 bolt or two 20mm X 0.7mm stainlesss steel straps The strain fitting shall comply with the requirements of NRS Mounting Bracket Strain Fitting Fig 2 - Typical Strain Assembly

SPECIFICATION FOR POLE FITTINGS FOR REFERENCE CP_TSSPEC_080 REV 1 PAGE 6 OF Suspension assembly The suspension assembly shall consist of a mounting bracket and a suspensionn fitting The mounting bracket shalll be of a weather-stabilized aluminium alloy material and shall be mountable onto a pole using either an M16 bolt or two 20mm X 0.7mm stainlesss steel straps The suspension fitting shall comply with the requirements of NRS Mounting Bracket Suspension Fitting Fig 3 - Typical Suspension Assembly 5 TESTS Tests on pole fittings shall comply with the requirements of NRS 018 Parts 2 and 4. 6 MARKING, LABELLING AND PACKAGING Marking, labelling and packaging shall comply with the requirements of NRS 018 Parts 2 and 4.

PAGE 7 OF 13 7 DOCUMENTATION Documentation that complies with the requirements of NRS 018 Parts 2 and 4 shall be submitted in a catalogue format. In addition, relevant test certificates confirming compliance with the requirements of NRS 018 Parts 2 and 4 shall be submitted. 8 TRAINING 8.1 A certified training course shall be offered to relevant City Power staff. The training shall include, handling, storage and installation of pole fittings. 8.2 The associated costs for the certified training course in 8.1 shall be given per person and shall be fixed for the period of the contract. 9 QUALITY ASSURANCE A quality management plan shall be set up in order to assure the proper quality management of the pole fittings during design, development, production, installation and servicing phases. Guidance on the requirements for a quality management plan may be found in the ISO The details shall be subject to agreement between City Power and supplier. 10 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT An environmental management plan shall be set up in order to assure the proper environmental management of the pole fittings throughout its entire life cycle (i.e. during design, development, production, installation, operation and maintenance, decommissioning and disposal phases). Guidance on the requirements for an environmental management system may be found in ISO 14001standards. The details shall be subject to agreement between City Power and supplier. This is to ensure that the asset created conforms to environmental standards and City Power SHER Policy.
