5 2.0 INTRODUCTION OF THE PROJECT OR BACKGROUND INFORMATION (i) Identification of project and project proponent: In case of mining project, a copy of mining lease/letter of intent should be given owner name and address of the Project proponent Identification of Project Name of the Project Granite Building stone quarry project Permit area Ha (Private land) - Non forest Location Survey Nos. 53/6 & 53/8-1, 53/8-2 & 53/13 Ayyampuzha Village, Aluva Taluk, Ernakulam District, Kerala State. Topo Sheet No. C43K8 (58B/8) Project Proponent Name with Address M/s Star Rock Products Pvt Ltd., Mr.T.C.Johnson Managing Director Oliveli, Ayyampuzha Village, Thabore P.O, Aluva Taluk Ernakulam Dist, Kerala. In case of mining project, a copy of mining lease/letter of intent should be given I. Quarrying Permit from Department of Mining & Geology vide letter No. 31/16-17/MM/GS/QP/DOE/1777/E2/16 dated 24 June (ii) Brief description of nature of the project The permit area is exhibits hillock topography. The Granite Building stone quarrying operation is proposed to carry out by conventional opencast Semi mechanized method by formation of benches. Initially pruning of benches as required will be carried out. The width of each bench is proposed not less than the height. The quarry operation involves drilling by jack hammer, blasting operation, Movement of HEMM, Loading & Unloading operation. The massive charnockite formation is clearly inferred with outcrops and existing quarry works. The granite occurs in a undulating terrain sloping from south to north. The elevation of the proposed permit area varies from +71m AMSL to +114m AMSL. Ultimate depth of the pit is proposed at 68m AMSL The maximum proposed production is around 78,634 MTA Topsoil will be used for plantation purpose. The waste/overburden will be used for road formation, filling of low lying areas nearby land owned by the proponent. Hence no waste dump is proposed during the life of the mine

6 (iii) Need for the project and its importance to the country and or region The Granite Building stone is important building material to our country and region; it s a vital material for Infrastructure development and Road widening project. Hence a lot of building stone is required for Granular sub base (GSB). The mining project will fulfill its end uses in construction purposes. The mining and associated activities in the mineral bearing areas will add to the revenue of the state through royalty on the mineral and the taxes as well as improve the economic conditions of the local people through direct and secondary employment. The mining project will provide employment to local people. Applicant will pay royalty for the mineral produced from the mine, direct and indirect taxes will be paid thereby contributing to the regional revenue. The public revenue so generated will further be put for use in infrastructural development and other sectors like health, education and social welfare. (iv) Demand and supply gap There is a huge demand of Granite Building stone for State and National Road projects, the projects are under massive development for its widening and strengthening operation, apart from this many bridges and fly overs are also being under construction. Granite building stone is widely used in construction activities as main raw material. It is available in almost all the parts of the State. The entry in the target market is easy and there is a notable gap in the supply and demand, which is growing. (v) Imports vs indigenous production The Granite building stone is available in local markets and hence, there is no scope of import. However, the demand for the stone is continuously increasing due to rising trend in the infrastructure projects. (vi) Export Possibility Granite Building Stone production from the mine will cater to the needs of well established domestic markets. (vii) Domestic/Export Markets Domestic demand is one of the main reasons for the rapid growth of granite building stone business in Kerala. Thus, domestic market for granite building stone as building material is well established. Since it is an allied industry of the construction sector, growth in construction sector may be considered as proxy for the growth in stone mining sector. The market scope for granite building stone is found to be encouraging in local market with the increased demand from building industry & construction projects

7 (viii) Employment Generation (Direct and Indirect) due to the project It is proposed to deploy about 15 employees directly and indirect employment opportunities will be created surrounding region. The tentative man power required for the proposed Granite building stone quarry shall be as follows. The proposed project would require significant workforce of non-technical and technical persons. Sl. No. Name of Post Nos. 1 Mines Manager 1 3 Mines Foreman 1 4 Mining Mate 1 5 Blasting Helper 1 6 Driller 2 7 Supervisor 1 8 Tipper Driver 2 9 Excavator Operator 2 Unskilled Labour (Security, Gardening, Spotter, etc.,) 4 Total 15 The above man power is adequate to meet out the production schedule and the machinery strength envisaged in the modified mining plan and also to comply with the stationary provisions of quarry safety regulation. It is been ensured that the labours will not be deployed less than 18 years, No Child labours will engaged or entertained for any kind of quarrying operations. All the labours engaged for quarrying operations will be insured till the end of life of quarry. 3.0 PROJECT DESCRIPTION (i) Type of project including interlinked and interdependent projects, if any The project is site specific. ANALYSIS OF PROPOSAL (FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS) (i) Financial and social benefits with special emphasis on the benefit to the local people including tribal population, if any, in the area The permit area is Private land in Ayyampuzha Village, Aluva Taluk and Ernakulam District. There are no tribal populations in and around the area about 15 personals directly will be benefited by these projects, besides the government. The proposed quarry will bring economic benefits to the state by the way of royalty for mineral, surface rent, sale tax/vat, income tax etc. It is envisaged that socio-economic impact due to this project will positively increase the chance of more employment opportunities for local inhabitants. There are no Resettlement and Rehabilitation issues involved in this project. The State Govt. will benefit from the revenue generated due to the project. The entire project area is devoid of any endangered flora and fauna. It is proposed to reclaim the land and develop green cover for eco-restoration with native species to a maximum possible extent. Thus the proposed project will help in improving the ecosystem of the area. The socio- Economic conditions of the village and distance will enhance due to the project, hence, the project should be allowed after considering all the parameters. The detail furnished in this modified mining plan is based on information provided by the State Government and the lessee. By considering the merit of the project the permission may be granted
