7 Installation Instructions STEP 1 Measure > Required length = linear perimeter of the area. > Required width = total width of the ledge plus an additional 10mm overhang for an open ledge. Where two or more pieces are required to cover the total width of the ledge, a gap of up to 50mm is allowed. STEP 2 Prepare > Clean, disinfect and repair any damaged surfaces. Ensure surfaces are free from dirt, dust, grease to achieve optimal bonding between spikes and surface. > Wear protection when handling spikes and adhesives for safety. > Remove any overhanging braches of excess foliage above the surface to be protected to avoid nesting material building up onto spikes. > Apply Primer to surfaces that are porous such as brick or stone for stronger lasting adhesion. STEP 3 Bond 50mm 50mm 10mm Bond VEXO spikes only to dry clean surfaces. Apply a bead of adhesive along the underside of the base. Firmly press and wriggle VEXO spikes onto the surface to ensure maximum contact between substrates. Full adhesive strength is generally reached 12 hours after bonding depending on temperature and humidity. VEXO spikes can also be installed with self-tapping screws for wood or metal surfaces. Use at least 4 screws per metre strip. Cable ties can also be used on structural beams for added secureness.
