2 Egalsoft,, an underlay brand which stands for experience, quality and reliability! Egalsoft is a unique self adhesive underlay which provides durability, comfort and an easy installation. Egalsoft s self adhesive bottom layer will reduce the costs of adhesive and reduces the time of installation by 40% using the single stick installation method. The top layer of Egalsoft consist of an impregnated top layer with a non woven which provides a stable base for the appliance of adhesive and delivers good recovery capabilities. Egalsoft is suitable for both commercial and domestic use, single stick and double stick installation. The use of tack strips, nails and adhesive on the sub floor can cause damage with some floors that will create problems. This is the situation were Egalsoft, having its unique self adhesive and easy removable properties, is the solution for both domestic and contract flooring projects. Egalsoft can be laid on all subfloor types without causing any damage to the subfloor. The installation requires only basic carpet installation tools and skills. 3 Preparation before installation The surface on which Egalsoft underlay will be installed has to be permanently dry, without wax, grease, dust and vacuumed clean. To create a good environment for the adhesive to dry and prevent shrinking of the carpet the ideal floor temperature to process Egalsoft is approximately 15 degrees Celsius with a humidity of 50-60%. Step 1 Establish on which subfloor Egalsoft will be applied. In the case of tiles, parquet or laminate flooring we advise to clean off any wax, grease or dust. An absorbing or moisture sensitive subfloor have to primed. Remark: We do not advise to use Egalsoft in combination with thin carpets, because the risk that irregularities can become visible.

4 Step 2 Roll out the Egalsoft with the adhesive side down in 90 degrees angle towards the carpet. Remark: Egalsoft is also suitable for double stick installation with an non-skid adhesive. We advise to use the double stick method for larger commercial and heavy use areas like, doorways, passageways and entrances. The double stick method can also be use to process leftover pieces. Step 3 Be sure that the Egalsoft is not stretched and leave no gaps, nor overlaps, were widths are butt-joined.

5 Step 4 Lay out the carpet and cut to shape slightly larger than subfloor area. In case of creating a seam check if the edge of the carpet is properly cut if not make a new straight cut. Place both ends of the carpet tight to each other and fold approximately a 30cm on both ends open. Apply the adhesive using a fine notched trowel A2/B1. Egalbond glue or Uzin KE 2570 glue is advised and has been thoroughly tested. Step 5 Fold one side back into the adhesive and apply Roberts Carpet Seam Sealer (R8015 A) on the carpet edge. Fold the other side carefully back and place the seam tightly against each other.

6 Step 6 Close the seam. If necessary use a Seam lock (R10116) and finish the seam by using the Carpet Steamroller (R10100). Use an Awl (R530) to reposition the carpet if necessary and cut off any excess using the Robert Duckbill Napping Shear (R586). Step 7 Fold the rest of the carpet back and apply the adhesive on the Egalsoft underlay. Ensure a complete transfer of adhesive onto the backing of the carpet. More adhesive should be applied if this is not achieved. Depending on the instructions of the adhesive, temperature and humidity, wait minutes before laying the carpet.

7 Step 8 Push the carpet in straight corner against the skirting using a Stair tool (R520-R521- R10522) and cut off the excess carpet. Removal: With normal use, Egalsoft will last at least as long as the carpet. For access to the subfloor, the carpet and Egalsoft may be rolled up together and re-laid. Step 9 After removing the excess of carpet glide or roll an Egalsoft glider or 30kg roller over the carpet to ensure all wrinkles and air bubbles are removed. This process will ensure a smooth secure installation, preventing any unnecessary stretching. Avoid using a heavier roller. This can cause stretching of the underlay.

8 Packaging Egalsoft is packed in an LDPE foil (Low Density Polyethylene Bag) with an insert with installation instruction.
