Digital services MillSIGHTS Production data collection and reporting system Veneer, plywood and LVL mills Production data such as volumes, recovery rates and process downtimes Fast, accurate and reliable data transfer from production lines to database Available on cloud or on-premises 24

Digital services MillMONITOR Condition monitoring service Specially for maintenance team Measures the technical availability of production lines Assists in understanding the major reason for process downtimes and monitoring maintenance activities 25

Digital services MillMONITOR Plus Remote monitoring service intended to monitor real-time technical irregularities and alarm occurrences Provides a comprehensive understanding of critical factors of line availability end product quality Cloud based service which is monitored by Raute experts 26

Digital services elearning MillACADEMY Raute s new on-line elearning program On-line training accessible 24/7, from anywhere with any device. Supports live training or can be a separate training experience Easier training of shift workers Easy testing of employees skills and development Possible to manage users as a group, but also make individual learning paths Easy to train and manage hundreds of people Raute provides and manages the service Raute provides statistics from training Raute provides the training materials Raute provides exams 27

Green veneer composing

Defects in sheets are detected by a scanner, defected parts are cut out by a defect clipper. Green Composing principle Good parts of veneer sheets are jointed composed together with tapes. The composed veneer mat is clipped to sheets with sheet clipper. Trash Random Clipping Sheet cut Tape pieces on both lines sides of the veneer

Joints wet veneer using tape Joints wet veneers,......using tape.

Process importance: Recovery and drying efficiency: Green randoms for plywood production instead of chipping to pulp or fuel. Reduced manual labour due to automated handling of veneer sheets (dryer infeed, dry veneer stacking) instead of randoms. Higher dryer efficiency with drying of full sheets only.

Green Composing principle In the green veneer composer the clean clipped and aligned veneers are jointed together with tape (containing thermosetting melamine glue) applied on both sides of the veneer with the aid of electrically heated presses, 2x7=14 tape pieces per joint of 5 veneer. 32

Defect recognition at Green Composer Mecano G5 VCO-F Defects are detected using combination of the color camera and thickness detectors Mecano G5 VCO-composing (Fluoroscope) Illumination underneath and above the veneer selected color channels are used to recognize certain defects Balance with quality and recovery can be adjusted Good defect recognition with VCO is important to avoid taping to the surface where the tape cannot bond properly 34

RautePro Peeling line 1 mm veneer for fruit boxes 35

RauteLite Spindleless peeling line 36

RauteLite Liquid extrusion gluing Even glue spreading Less glue Better quality Manual layup 37

LVL Laminated Veneer Lumber Continuous lay-up is the heart of all Raute LVL lines Raute s LVL process combines continuous lay-up and cycle press Continuous lay-up with pre-pressing produces an endless LVL lay-up, out of which custom length LVL billets are cut From semiautomatic RautePro solutions to fully automatic hands-free RauteSmart lines.

Lamination effect in LVL One veneer presents only 5-10 % of the thickness of the LVL panel. Defects in one veneer sheet have only a marginal effect to the strength of the whole LVL panel 39

Strength deviations LVL Lumber Strength of LVL is higher Strength LVL has much smaller deviation in strength 40
