1 TENDER FOR SUPPLY & INSTALLATION OF CARPET / FLOORING - ADDENDUM ADMINISTRATION OFFICE, VINCENT MASSEY HIGH SCHOOL, WAVERLY PARK SCHOOL and NEW ERA GENERAL CONDITIONS: Sealed tenders will be received up to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2016 at the Brandon School Division at th Street, Brandon, Manitoba, R7A 4K5, for the Supply & Installation of Carpet, in accordance with the following: a. Specifications and tender forms can be found at One copy is to be submitted in an envelope marked TENDER CARPET / FLOORING. Please ensure the sealed envelope clearly indicates the firm s name and return address. b. Tender form must show the name of the firm and must be signed by a person duly authorized to sign on behalf of the firm. The office held by the person so signing should be shown on the tender form. c. Tenderers must attend the site visit to secure a comprehension of the work required, to verify the measurements, and to make all intelligent estimating as to conditions and scope of work to be carried out. No allowances shall be made for failure to make such investigations. Interested parties are to meet on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 9:00 a.m. at the Brandon School Division Administration Office ( th Street) in Brandon, MB. d. Tenders are to include total cost to Brandon School Division including all taxes, permits, etc. Taxes are to be shown separately. e. The materials are to be delivered F.O.B. and installed at Administration Office, Vincent Massey High School and Waverly Park School between the dates of July 4 and August 19, No additional shipping/handling charges or fuel surcharges will be paid. Delivery and installation are to be coordinated with Mel Clark, Director of Facilities & Transportation. f. The estimated quantities are provided for information purposes only. No commitment is given with respect to the actual quantities that may be ordered during the period of the contract by Brandon School Division. g. Submit duplicate 400 mm piece of each type and colour carpet specified. 1.2 Maintenance Data/Material a. Provide maintenance data for carpet. b. Provide remnants/cuttings over 300 mm wide of each type and colour carpet, maintenance use (minimum 1% of carpeted area). 1.3 Warranty a. Contractor hereby warrants that carpeting will provide specified level of appearance, subject to proper care and maintenance, in accordance with GC24, minimum 10 years. b. Contractor warrants that the carpet supplier provide the necessary colours from the same dye lot Reference Standards a. 4 2.5 The following products are accepted as equal Attachment #5, ADDENDUM EXECUTION - CARPET 3.1 Preparation a. Remove existing carpet as required for installation of new as indicated. Glue existing carpet as required at new edges. b. Clean floors of existing backing and glue, dust, dirt and all other substances detrimental to the proper performance of adhesive and carpet. Allow to thoroughly dry. 3.2 Installation Installation Procedures for Kraus Carpet Attachment #4 3.3 Base and Stair Stringer Application a. Set base in adhesive tightly against wall and floor surfaces. Use lengths as long as practical and not less than 400mm. b. Install sheet rubber stringer material at steps on stairs and platform risers and where shown, cut carefully to step profile. Apply before tread and riser finish is installed. c. Install straight and level to variation of 1:1000. d. Scribe and fit to doorframes and other obstructions. e. Miter internal corners. Use pre-moulded end pieces at flush doorframes. 3.4 Protection of Finished a. Vacuum carpets clean. Protect traffic work areas of carpeted floor with polyethylene drop sheets. 9 GENERAL CONDITIONS 1. Samples 1. Submit duplicate 400 mm piece of each type and colour VCT specified. 1.2 Maintenance Data/Material 1. Provide maintenance data for VCT. 2. Provide remnants/cuttings of full tiles of each type and colour of tile, maintenance use (minimum 3% of tiled area). 1.3 Warranty 1. Contractor hereby warrants that tile installation will be performed by a qualified installer to provide a level of appearance that can be deemed acceptable by the owner after the first 500 to 1000 sft is installed. 2. Contractor warrants that the tile ordered will be all from the same dye lot Successful contractor MUST visit site(s) to ensure accurate measurements and prep requirements of specified areas. New resilient base: Top set, coved, 3 mm thick, rubber, 100 mm high (verify matches existing) including premoulded end stops and external corners. At corners over 300 mm use wrap around system. At doors and corners less that 300 mm, use premoulded corners. Colour to match existing. Amtico or Johnsonite or equal. 5. Edge Strips: Multipurpose Bevel Bar, colour to be selected.

10 Supply and Install Tile: To be delivered and installed between July 4 and August 19, EXECUTION 3.1 Preparation 1. Remove existing VCT as required for installation of new as indicated. 2. Clean floors of dust, dirt and prepare floors as per the manufacturers printed instructions. Allow to thoroughly dry. 3. Patch floors where required using a cement based floor patch with acrylic additive such as: Chembond Patchmate Installation 1. Install VCT in accordance with manufacturers printed instructions. 2. Plan lay out of VCT to ensure that perimeter cut pieces are no less than Cut and fit tightly around all fixed objects such as pipes and door frames. 4. When meeting another color of flooring in a doorway make sure that the transition in under the center of the door. 5. Install tile into adhesive after the adhesive has tacked, starting in the center of the room or hallway working toward the outer walls in a pyramid fashion, making sure to stay parallel to building lines. 6. Clean off excess adhesive from the surface of the tile, roll the tile in both directions using a 150 lb 3-section steel roller to ensure proper bonding. 3.3 Protection of Finished 1. Protect work areas of tiled floors from traffic for 24 hours after completion.
