Leavitt SAILS (Student Union, Astronomy, Infrastructure, Landscaping & Security) HMC presented the Schematic Design drawings for the Student Union to the Core Group. Comments regarding the Counseling offices and the means of egress from the Welcome Center were received. The Design Team will be considering them. The Amendment revising the Student Union design and related contract scope changes was approved at the September 7th Board meeting. Routing of chilled water and heating hot water to Astronomy Building is underway. Heating and Chilled water lines to Music is planned to start in October. Program Validation meetings have been held with the User Groups and the Design Team is making the requested modifications to the design. Schematic Design briefing to CORE is scheduled for September 27th. Astronomy Modernization - DSA review comments are being addressed and final permitting is anticipated this month. Approval of the amendment revising the Student Union design and related contract scope changes is scheduled to be approved at the September 7th Board meeting. The Design Team has chosen to proceed with program validation meetings with the User Groups. First meetings are schedule for this week. Heating hot water lines are being put back in service upon completion of heating plant work being done by Facilities. Restoration of the site in areas of recently completed sanitary sewer installation and water line re-route will be complete this week. Planning is underway for routing of chilled water and heating hot water to Music and Astronomy Buildings. Temporary fencing will be provided between Music and Science this week. Pedestrian access will be maintained. 1

2 07/29/11 Bernards continues to submit pricing for the contract changes. With the deletion of the SPS/Health building and other costs saving measures, we would anticipate a relatively small net change order. DSA review comments for the Astronomy Modernization are being addressed. Installation of heating hot water lines in the tunnels continues. The anticipated completion date is early August. Replacement of sanitary sewer east of the Science Complex continues. Final tie-in requiring a sanitary sewer outage for the Tech Building will occur on Friday, 7/29. Electrical upgrades in Drama-Speech and Fine Arts continue. Only temporary construction power will be available in these two buildings through early August. Bernards price proposal for Student Union is being evaluated. Price for new Student Union and related schedule impacts in excess of $4 million over budget. A significant budget shortfall is anticipated. B. Englert requested that, since electronic door hardware for access control was being deleted from the SAILS scope as a budget cutting measure, replacement hardware for the older entry doors on campus be replaced under the project. Arcadis will evaluate. Installation of heating hot water lines in the tunnels continues with anticipated completion in early August. A sewer outage will be required to complete final connection of the new sewer and some restrooms will need to be closed in PE, Cafeteria and Tech. B. Englert stated that some restrooms may not be able to be locked. Arcadis will review the construction schedule and arrange for the outage to occur with as little impact to campus operations as possible. Campus Art 07/20/10 The final Campus Art policy is pending approval. 06/01/10 M. Wood will follow up on using Carlos Ricco s services for creating a mural.

3 05/04/10 The Art Committee will investigate the price of a proposed mural at the new CDC. 02/23/10 It was confirmed that the Campus Art program will be managed on a campus-wide basis rather that project by project. Child Development Center A concern was raised over the rear gate from the play area being accessible to unauthorized personnel. Arcadis will review. 06/28/11, Security Enhancements We are currently preparing documents for bidding. Construction is target for fall semester /14/11 Documents are being prepared for bidding with construction targeted for fall semester /10/11 Build-LACCD has reviewed the requirements for DSA submission of the Security enhancements and has determined that DSA submission is not required. The project will now be reviewed for bidding purposes and a meeting with Build- LACCD will be set up this week to begin the advertising process. Construction is targeted for early fall semester /08/11 Waiting on DSA final response to the final change order. PBWS is compiling the LEED submission package for the construction points. Humanities Modernization DSA approval of the design for the exterior portion of the project is anticipated within two weeks. Pankow is establishing emergency exit routes from the Theater, Music and Fine Arts buildings. DSA approval of the design for the exterior is anticipated this month. Fencing surrounding the Fine Arts Quad has been set in anticipation of start of demolition.

Central Plant 04/27/10 Arcadis is pursuing an study of the operation of the Plant that takes into consideration all installed equipment, the current and near term building loads, the potential use of the micro-turbines and Broad Chiller, and a reevaluation of the sequence of operations and controls Tech. Building This project has been delayed due to funding issues outlined by Build-LACCD. The HP All-in-One computers and height adjustable drafting tables were recently installed in the Computer Lab. This should resolve the accessibility issues. The Architect is working on adding the new compressor design that will be added to the drawings. 08/23111 The new compressor design will be added to the drawings. Final 100% CD drawings are pending. We will be concentrating on getting the issues resolved this week. The re-ordered fire damper (needed as part of the building s final certification process) has been received and will be installed the week of August 8th.

5 100% CD drawings are due this week and should be submitted to DSA before the end of the month. 06/28/11 Corrections to the Construction Documents are being made to the set and are due back on 7/5/11. Once complete, they will be submitted to DSA. 06/14/11 The 100% construction drawings have been completed and a pre-dsa meeting with Build LACCD has been scheduled for Wednesday 6/15/11. 05/10/11 The Architect has been directed to complete the 100% design package. Once completed, a pre-dsa meeting will be held with BuildLACCD. The fire damper contract has been executed and the material is on order. NEA/SS The contractor has been issued a Notice to Proceed dated September 19th. A pre start site inspection is being scheduled for next week so that photo documentation can be taken of the existing conditions. Work is expected to begin immediately after submittal approvals in October. 09/113/11 The preconstruction meeting was held on September 8th and we anticipate that the NTP will be issued within the next two weeks. The BuildLACCD mandated post award meeting has been held and we anticipate a preconstruction meeting to occur within the next 10 days. A NTP should be issued the first week of September. An internal plan and site review meeting is scheduled for Wednesday 8/24/11. Installation of evacuation signage will be a priority. Build LACCD has resolved the bid protest and the contract for this work is proceeding. We expect to schedule a pre-construction meeting with the Contractor sometime this week. Work will proceed shortly thereafter. Build LACCD has been dealing with a bid protest. However, it appears award to the low bidder Unispec will occur.

6 Parking Structure Building punch list and building commissioning are 100% complete. There is 1 Field Change Directive and 4 Change Orders at DSA. Training for Facilities and Commissioning was completed and connection of the PV to the campus grid was accomplished on Friday. Signage is on order. The DWP meter has been installed. Connection of the PV power to the campus grid is currently on hold until the interconnect agreement with DWP can be completed. The interconnect agreement is currently awaiting final signature. Training for Facilities Staff and commissioning will commence for the system once the agreement has been executed. Additional documentation is now required to execute the interconnect agreement and activate the PV. The PV has yet to be activated. The interconnect agreement with LADWP is at LACCD for review. Installation of additional traffic control signage will be evaluated. 06/28/11 The PV has yet to be activated but the interconnect agreement with DWP is being reviewed by Legal. 06/14/11 The PV has yet to be activated. The incentive reservation paperwork has been forward to Build-LACCD for processing to DWP. Science Complex Exterior fiber board installation at the south face will commence this week. Framing, rough plumbing, rough HVAC and rough electrical continues through the east side of the building on all floors. All but two slabs of interior building concrete has been placed. The 3rd floor of segment 3 was poured on 8/19 and we anticipate the segment 3 roof level pour to occur on 8/26. Framing, rough-in of MEP has commenced.

7 Pinner may consider adding a second shift to help insure the building is dried in prior to the beginning of the rainy season. The project continues to go well and is on schedule and within budget. Completion is projected for July 2012 or sooner. Renewable Energy 03/08/11 The Interconnect agreement and incentive paperwork has been forward to Build- LACCD for processing to DWP. LADWP s vista switch is currently on schedule and targeted for a 04/20/11 tie in. PE Building Grading for concrete sidewalks and the installation of the exterior light poles are completed. Testing of the lights will take place next week. The storm drain, chilled water system, and the fire lane will be completed by September 29th. Irrigation and planting is scheduled to be completed by September 30th. Grading for concrete sidewalks is 95% completed. 8 Library and Learning Resource Center The Contractor has experienced significant subcontractor issues. Move in is currently anticipated over Spring Break. Insulation and drywall are in progress. HVAC, electrical and plumbing rough-in is on-going. Roofing installation is nearing completion. Curtain wall construction is in progress. Contractor is continuing exterior sheathing and waterproofing around the building. Interior framing on both floors is nearing completion. Exterior framing is complete. Curtain wall construction has begun. A Spring Break move is anticipated. Marquee Sign The concrete sub-contractor has objected to their replacement and the matter is scheduled for a hearing on October 7th. Berliner briefed the Group on the exterior finishes. Anti-graffiti measures and programming protocols were also discussed. The DSA comments regarding the water line issue have been addressed and sent to BuildLACCD for resubmission to DSA. We anticipate a 2 to 3 week turnaround. The displays have been manufactured and are being stored offsite and ready for delivery once the foundation work is complete. T.V. Studio A design meeting was held on September 20th and the project is again moving forward. The anticipated completion is 1st quarter of The District s execution of the design addendum was achieved on 8/27/11. We are currently scheduling a meeting with the design team to review status and update the schedule.

9 The paper work related to the campus wide distribution contract addition has been worked out. District execution of the addendum is pending. Nursing/Data Center - Community Services - ADA Transition Plan The RFP issuance has been rescheduled for Monday, 10/3. A Pre-Submittal Conference has been tentatively scheduled for Thursday, 10/6 to introduce the (3) short listed Design Build teams to District standards and RFP procedures. An has been distributed to the LAHC Selection Committee members regarding the following revised dates: - 10/17 - Design Build Team Interviews #1-11/07 - Design Build Team Interviews #2-12/14 - Final DB Team Presentations - 01/25 - Selection Committee Scoring A Pre-Submittal Conference has been scheduled for Friday, 9/16 to introduce the (3) short listed Design Build teams to District standards and RFP procedures. Request for Qualifications is currently advertised. Submissions are due on Friday 8/26. The Short List Selection Committee will meet on 9/8 to select (3) Design Build teams to compete for this contract. RFP is scheduled to be released on 9/12. Community Services Annex The contractor is 50% complete with the masonry block installation which is expected to be finished in two weeks. Trenching and installation of the sewer line to the street is 50% complete. The contractor has started the masonry block installation. Under slab utility line installation is complete and the concrete slabs have begun.

10 The contractor has finished pouring the footings. Masonry block and under slab utility line installation is scheduled to start today. Underground utility lines are installed. The contractor is setting rebar cages into the footings and preparing to pour concrete on Friday, July 29. Harbor Teachers Preparatory Academy A meeting to discuss this issue the differences regarding the commitment of LAUSD to use LAHC instruction was held without resolution. The next meeting is scheduled for 09/22. The 8/19 meeting is being rescheduled. Another meeting will be held in mid-august to continue discussions. Negotiations will continue. 06/14/11 There appears to be a difference of objectives regarding the commitment of LAUSD to use LAHC instruction. A meeting is being scheduled to discuss this issue. 03/08/11 President Martinez briefed the group on his concerns over the nature of the agreement being proposed by LAUSD. The proposed agreement would limit the use of the facilities for Harbor College. He will continue to discuss with Core and the Senate as details evolve. 12/07/10 The lease and development agreements are being negotiated between LACCD and LAUSD. It envisions a 55,000 gsf school and 3,500 sq ft storage facility for LAHC. Project budget is currently $25M with a join use gym being discussed.
