1 MANDATORY TENDER INSTRUCTIONS TENDER NO. TENDER DESCRIPTION LOCATION KCO/03/07/FY19 WATER PIPELINE INSTALLATION OF MLANGO B- DANICHA PRIMARY WATER PROJECT IN GANZE SUB COUNTY. KILIFI Plan International Kenya invites tenders from approved and reputable Contractors for the above works within Kilifi County. Eligible bidders should attach valid documentations and be able to meet the following mandatory requirements:- 1. Must be a registered company (Attach Certificate of Incorporation) 2. The Contractor must be registered with National Construction Authority (NCA) and possess registration documents in the specialist category of building/ Water works NCA 5 or higher (Attach documentation). 3. KRA VAT, PIN registered and current/valid Tax compliance Certificates (Attach documentations) 4. Attach details of similar or relevant works completed within the last 3 years giving details of clients who may be contacted for more information. (Attach a minimum of 5 completion certificates) 5. Technical capability to include: a) List of relevant equipment's owned/hired and skilled staff (Site agents, masons, plumbers etc), give details and provide proof of the same. (Attach certified copies of certificates of ownerships, purchase receipts, sale agreements or lease agreements and certified copies of certificates, membership to professional bodies for staff) b) Provide a list of clients and references to which the company has done similar works (attach certified copies of references letters addressed to Plan International) c) Physical facilities: provide details of physical address and contacts (Attach business permit/cr8 form) d) Organizational structure 6. Sound Financial standing (Attach bank statements for the last 6 months). Liquid assets and/or credit facilities, net of other contractual commitments and exclusive of any advance payments which may be made under the Contract, of not less than KSh. 10,000, Programme of works showing contractor's proposed schedule of undertaking the construction. 8. Confirm ability to raise 10% of contract sum as Performance Bond valid for the period of the contract if awarded the contract. (Attach letter from the bank addressed to Plan International referencing the said tender) 9. A consistent history of litigation or arbitration awards for the Applicant or any partner of a Joint Venture may result in disqualification. Joint Ventures are not permitted for this project. However, subcontracting will be allowed, at the discretion of the Employer 10. Must visit the site and show evidence of the visit through a signed confirmation letter from the school. (Attach signed letter) (This is a MUST)

Tender prices must remain valid for 90 days from the date of tender closing. Include for supply and delivery. m CARPENTRY AND JOINERY Timber shelves made of well-sawn and cured cypress of size 350x25mm secured into place with steel brackets as detailed in drawing nos. ARC1 and ARC2. m STEEL WORKS AND CASEMENTS Windows: Supply & fix purpose made 25mm thick x 1300mm long x 1200mm high steel shutter window fabricated from standard sections complete with frames, mullions and transoms including all necessary locking and window stays, screws and nuts, oxide primed before delivery to site. Include for precast concrete panel, Perspex cover, brackets etc as detailed in drawings. nr 1 6

9 8.6.2 Allow for 50x50x3mm angle section fixed and anchored in the reinforced concrete window sill to detail as in the drawings. The section shall be set in place before placement of the concrete. Fetching bay: Allow for 50x50x3mm angle section fixed and anchored in the reinforced concrete fetching bay to detail as in the drawings. The section shall be set in place before placement of the concrete. Tank security cage: Fabricate, supply, deliver and fix 1700mm x 1700mm x 2650mm high steel cage to secure water tank and shade. The steel cage should be secured into place using j-bolts inbuilt in the slab during concrete casting Doors: mm thick x 900 x2100mm high burglar proof steel door complete. Include for provision of high security padlock. Allow for painting including red oxide primer PLUMBING AND ENGINEERING INSTALLATIONS Cold water meter installation Supply, deliver and install 25mm diameter PPR PN16 pipe including jointing, coupling and fixing as detailed in the drawings. Include for all original valves, meter and all fittings and consumables and placement as shown in the drawings including pipe work into and out of the overhead tank and floater valve to manufacture specifications Supply, deliver and install 5,000-litre plastic water tank on the roof slab and in security steel cage as detailed in the drawings. 10 8.7.4 Allow for testing and commissioning of the whole of water supply plumbing works. Drainage system Construct 1000mm x 1000mm x 1400mm deep soak pit as per drawing no. ARC 08. Include for 200mm thick granular fill layer and GT to detail and construction of 10m x 100mm diameter heavy duty upvc drain pipe and connection to the drainage grooves and soak pit as detailed. Include provision for excavation in normal soil. Allow for testing the drainage system FLOOR, WALL AND CEILING FINISHINGS External finishes Extra over walling for smooth chisel dressing with flush pointed vertical joints and recessed horizontal joints mm thick cement sand plaster troweled smooth to external surface of masonry wall in fetching bay, beams, columns, roof slab edges and soffit Provide and lay bituminous felt cover on the top surface including vertical faces of roof slab to fall with minimum gradient of 1.5 o. MECHANICAL All plumbing and drainage to comply with relevant local authority GROUND LOOR PLAN ±0 0 GROUND FLOOR LEVEL 150mm thick reinforced (BRC A142) concrete ground slab on 1000 gauge polythene damp roof membrane on 50mm thick murrum blinding on 300mm thick packed and compacted hardcore and treatde with Anti-termite all to S.Eng's detail and approaval SVP denotes soil vent pipe to be provided at the head of the drainage system Drains pass beneath buildings & driveways to be encased in 150mm concrete surround. The storm drain pipes to comply with BS 556 specification. All underground foul and waste drain pipes shall be upvc to comply with BS All inspection chambers covers and framing shall be cast iron. Minimum slope in the drains pipes to be 1 in 100 No chases will be allowed for pipes. Sleeves will be allowed with written approval of structural Eng's. No cutting of concrete without express approval of the Architect or structural Eng. All testing of pipes must be completed before plastering.
