The schedule shall be reviewed prir t submissin by a certified Architectural Hardware Cnsultant, wh shall affix his r her seal attesting t the cmpleteness and crrectness f the schedule. 2. Furnish cver sheet listing name f prject as shwn n Cntract Dcuments, Owner, Architect, Cntractr, Architectural hardware Cnsultant (AHC) wh prepared the hardware submittal and date f submittal. 3. Furnish a vertical listing f hardware items used fllwed by manufacturer s name either n cver sheet r immediately fllwing cver sheet. Hrizntal schedule is nt acceptable. 4. Exit devices in nn labeled penings t be listed fr panic. Prject requires dr assemblies and cmpnents that are cmpliant with psitive pressure and S label requirements. Specificatins must be crss referenced and crdinated t ensure that ttal pening engineering is cmpatible with UL 10C Standard fr Psitive Pressure Fire Tests f Dr Assemblies, and IBC Certificatin(s) f cmpliance shall be made available upn request by the Authrity Having Jurisdictin. Any hardware listed as installed, is t be furnished and installed as part f the Finishing Hardware Bid. The installatin is t be by an authrized installer as listed in the sets r by Addendum. The successful bidder is t prvide a letter frm the factry certifying that the installer is a factry authrized installer. 1. 5 1.8 OERATION AND MAINTENANCE DATA A. Furnish manufacturer's parts list and maintenance instructins fr each type f hardware prvided and furnish the Owner with the necessary wrenches and tls required fr prper maintenance f installed hardware. 1.9 GENERAL REQUIREMENTS A. The hardware specified herein is intended t cver all necessary materials required t cmplete fully the hardware requirements f the building, except fr thse items f hardware that are cvered specifically under ther sectins f the specificatins. If hardware fr any particular lcatin is nt specified herein, furnish item f identical design, finish and functin required fr a similar lcatin, hardware shall be f suitable type and ample size and weight t perfrm the service required DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Delivery: 1. Delivery f all hardware t the building site shall be its riginal package and prperly wrapped. Package each f hardware with crrect screws, installatin templates and blts fr fastening, free frm flaws and defects. 2. Deliver packages clearly identified with heading number and dr number as apprved n hardware schedule. B. Strage and handling: 1. General Cntractr and/r Cnstructin Manager t prvide strage area fr hardware, which is dry, secure, and cmplete with shelving and tables fr unpacking and string. A lcked rm is t be prvided by the General Cntractr and/r Cnstructin Manager f the finishing hardware. 2. All hardware t be delivered t the jbsite by emplyees f the finishing hardware supplier. N drp shipments are permitted. 3. Upn delivery, the General Cntractr and/r Cnstructin Manager and the hardware supplier t check in the hardware against the apprved Finishing hardware Schedule, and place the items n the shelves. 4. 6 1.11 REPRESENTATIVE A. Prvide a cmpetent representative t inspect and direct methd f setting, applying, and adjustment f all hardware. Representative shall nt be required t remain cnstantly at the site, but shall be readily available t cnsult with the Owner, Cntractr and Architect at the prject site. Representative shall peridically visit the site during installatin f the hardware, and shall make final inspectin, t assure that all items are crrectly installed and adjusted TEMPLATES A. All hardware fr pre machined wd, and hllw metal drs and frames shall be made t template. B. Furnish templates and apprved hardware schedules t all interested manufacturers in sufficient quantities fr preparatin f their wrk t receptive hardware. Templates will be required fr all hardware applied t hllw metal and steel. C. Where necessary fr prper installatin, furnish actual hardware t the manufacturer fr his installatin. Furnish samples t the manufacturer as required s that all prvisins fr attachment, clearance and ther requirements can be made WIRING DIAGRAMS A. Furnish wiring fr scheduled items requiring pwer. B. Prvide an elevatin drawing fr each dr shwing lcatin f electric hardware. Include pint t pint wiring and riser diagrams and pwer requirements. C. Submit wiring diagrams and dr elevatins with hardware submittal. PART 2 PROCEDURES 2.1 GENERAL A. Prvide items as listed in the schedule at the end f this sectin, cmplete t functin as intended. B. Items as same functin and perfrmance are acceptable in cnfrmance with Sectin and as listed herein. C. Finish: 1. It is the intentin and it shall be understd that hardware herein specified shall be figured in sufficient quantities t fill requirements f the cntract drawings even thugh every item necessary t d s is nt specified herein, except fr thse items f hardware that are specifically cvered under ther sectins f the specificatins. F. If hardware fr any particular lcatin is nt specified herein, it shall be furnished f similar design and quality equal t ther items specified fr similar lcatins. It shall be f suitable type and ample size and weight t perfrm services required. Where Underwriter's Label is nted n dr schedule, hardware fr the pening is t meet the labeling requirements. G. Where finish shape r size f member taking hardware is such t prevent use f, r make unsuitable exact types specified, suitable types shall be furnished having as near as practical same peratin as that which is specified. H. Hardware shall be delivered t building site prperly wrapped with crrect screws and blts fr fastening, and shall be free frm flaws and defects. It shall be prperly labeled fr lcatin with item number crrespnding with hardware schedule. Threshlds and flr type dr stps shall have "tamping shields". I. Munting requirements: Refer t Sectin fr requirements. J. It is the intent that hardware be furnished and installed s that it meets applicable Barrier Free Facilities Standards f the State f Delaware, IBC, A.N.S.I. A117.1, and ADA where applicable. 8 4. Pulls and Push Plate height. 2.2 ACCEPTABLE MANUFACTURERS A. Manufacturer and type: Butt hinges scheduled as manufactured by Hager Hinge Cmpany, and shall f Ball Bearing and Plain Bearing, five knuckle types as scheduled. 1. Hinges shall be f sizes as fllws: Drs 3 feet and less in width 4½ inch in height. Drs 3 feet and ver in width 5 inch in height. Drs 5 feet and less in height Prvide 1 Pair. Drs 7 feet and less in height Prvide 1½ Pairs. Drs 7 feet and ver in height Prvide ½ Pair f each 2 feet in height. All clsers shall have a five year warranty. In residence halls LCN clsers are preferred, mdel 4040 unless apprved. Clsers shuld be thru blted. Lcksets and Latchsets: Shall be as manufactured by Best Access Systems and shall be 45H Lever Series mrtise type, with Lever 15/Rse H trim, r Schlage L series, with lever 06 and A Rse trim. 9 6. Cylinders shall be as manufactured by Best Access Cmpany, and shall be extruded brass, and shall be f remvable cre type, equipped with n less than 7 pins. 7. Push Plates, Pull Plates, and Kick Plates: Shall be as manufactured by Ives and shall be f types, and sizes scheduled. Plates shall be.050 ga. and shall have edges beveled n all sides. 9. Overhead Stps: Shall be as manufactured by Glynn Jhnsn Crp., and shall be f the 80 r 100 series, f sizes as scheduled. 10. Balance f hardware items shall be scheduled. B. Acceptable Substitutins: 1. 10 2.3 KEYING A. Keying shall be factry engineered, prduced and recrded. B. All lcks shall be furnished with cylinders, f type (1E74) r (1E72) with mdificatins as required, manufactured by Best Access Systems. Cres shall be keyed t the Best Masterkey System f the University, standard in academics and premium in husing, as apprved by the University and crdinated by the University Lck and Hardware Services. C. Fr the cnstructin perid, lcks shall be prvided with black plastic plugs, fr cntractr's cnvenience. These shall be replaced, at time f substantial cmpletin f the building, by the University, with permanent cres keyed by the University. Exterir drs shall be keyed alike by the University t a Prject cre fr the cnvenience f the cntractr and the University at the time f hardware installatin t secure the cnstructin site. 2.4 HARDWARE SCHEDULE A. Each dr shall have hardware cnfrming t the freging specificatins gruped in sets accrding t the fllwing schedule. Manufacturers' numbers used in the schedule are nt cmplete and must be supplemented t indicate the hereinbefre specified features. B. Lcks: All lcks t be mrtise type with heavy gauge nickel plate steel case and heavy gauge steel beveled frnts. Armred scalp plate and strikes t be brnze. Latch blts t be twpiece mechanical anti frictin blt. All lcks t have an auxiliary dead lcking latch blt t prevent retractin f regular latch blt when dr is lcked. Lck finish t be US32D. All lcks t receive wrught bxes with strike. C. Surface Clsers: Surface type shall have a full rack and pinin mechanism prviding psitive cntinuus checking actin frm fully pen psitin. Key cntrlled adjusting valves t cntrl clsing speed, latching speed and back check. Surface type t be surface munted with case finished in aluminum. All clsers t be furnished with sex nuts and blts. Surface type t have 15% spring pwer adjustment. All clsers shall be munted in parallel arm cnfiguratin. D. Dr Operatrs: Dr peratrs and cntrls are t be hardwired. On all nn rated penings. E. Silencers: Interir frames withut gasketing will receive rubber silencers #20 r #21, tw (2) fr each duble and three (3) fr each single frame. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. General Cntractr and/r Cnstructin Manager t verify drs and frames are ready t receive wrk, and dimensins are as indicated n shp drawings r as instructed by manufacturers. B. General Cntractr and/r Cnstructin Manager t verify pwer supply is available t electrically perated devices. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install finish hardware in accrdance with reviewed hardware schedule and manufacturer s printed instructins. Pre fit hardware befre finish is applied, remve and reinstall after finish is cmpleted. Install hardware s that parts perate smthly, clse tightly and d nt rattle. B. Installatin f hardware shall cmply with JFPA 80, UL10C, and NFPA 101 requirements. C. Set units level, plumb and true t line and lcatin. Adjust and reinfrce attachment t substrate as necessary fr prper installatin and peratin. D. Drill and cuntersink units which are nt factry prepared fr anchrage fasteners. Space fasteners and anchrs in accrdance with industry standards. E. Set threshlds fr exterir drs in full bed f butyl rubber r plyisbutylene mastic sealant, frming tight seal between threshld and surface t which set. Securely and permanently anchr threshlds, using cuntersunk nn ferrus screws t match clr f threshlds (stainless steel screws at aluminum threshlds). F. Lead Prtectin: Lead wrap hardware penetrating lead lined drs. Levers and rses t be lead lined. Apply kick and armr plates with 3M adhesive #1357, as recmmended by 3M C., n lead lined drs. 12 3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL A. After installatin has been cmpleted, prvide services f qualified hardware cnsultant t check Prject t determine prper applicatin f finish hardware accrding t schedule. Als check peratin and adjustment f hardware items. B. Adjust dr cntrl devices t cmpensate fr final peratin f hearting and ventilating equipment. 3.4 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. At final cmpletin, hardware shall be left clean and free frm disfigurement. Make final adjustment t dr clsers and ther items f hardware. Where hardware is fund defective repair r replace r therwise crrect as directed. B. Adjust dr clsers t meet pening frce requirements f Unifrm Federal Accessibility Standards. C. Final Adjustment: Wherever hardware installatin is made mre than ne mnth prir t acceptance r ccupancy f space r area, return t wrk during week prir t acceptance r ccupancy, and make final check and adjustment f hardware items in such space r area. Clean perating items as necessary t restre prper functin and finish f hardware and drs. D. Instruct Owner s persnnel in prper adjustment and maintenance f dr hardware and hardware finishes. E. Clean adjacent surfaces siled by hardware installatin 3.5 PROTECTION A. Prvide fr prper prtectin f items f hardware until Owner accepts Prject as cmplete. 3.6 EXISTING OPENINGS A. Existing Openings: 1. The finishing hardware supplier is respnsible fr surveying all existing drs and frames in rder t verify the existing hardware preps and assure cmpatibility with specified hardware. 2. The survey is t be accmplished prir t submitting schedules and shp drawings. 3. Hardware supplier is t furnish a letter, certifying that the survey was cmpleted prir t preparing the shp drawings and schedules.
