Who are we? Adfil are part of Low and Bonar who are an international business to business performance materials group. What do we do? As do all group companies we design and manufacture components which add value to and improve the performance of our customer s products. How do we do it? We engineer a wide range of polymers using our own technologies to create yarns, fibres, industrial and coated fabric and composite materials Where do we do it? We sell globally and manufacture in Europe, North America, Middle East & China.

Specification for Durus S300. Durus S300 is a macro synthetic fibre for concrete reinforcement and shotcreting. The product is embossed along its length and is rectangular in shape. This fibre is available in lengths from 45 mm to 55m. Coatings No coatings are used in the production of the Durus. Raw Material Polypropylene with a density of 910 Kg /m³. Tape around the fibres The fibres are delivered in pucks and the tape holding the pucks together is made of cold water soluble PVA. Fibre properties Fibre Average width in mm Length in mm Tensile strength MPa Modulus of elasticity MPa % Durus S300 < 1mm 45 to 55* * 55mm in our shotcrete tests. Quality Controls & Certification. EC Certificate of Conformity to BS EN : Certificate of Registration to ISO 9001 : 2008

Reinforcement. The purpose of reinforcement is to absorb shrinkage and thermal stresses, improve shear and tensile strength and distribute concentrated loads over a wider area. Shotcrete should therefore be provided with adequate reinforcement whenever tensile stresses are expected. Tensile stresses are also the result of the external loading (rock pressure). Anchors as used in the NATM press against the shotcrete layer in a point loading pattern. The area around the anchor head is subjected to shear load while the bending moment can occur in the zone between the anchors. By providing homogeneous reinforcement to the shotcrete layer the Durus S300 absorbs the tensile stresses wherever produced and whatever the origin.

EFNARC plate testing The EFNARC specifications outline a plate test designed to determine the absorbed energy from the load/deformation curve as a measure of toughness. The test is designed to model more realistically the biaxial bending that can occur in some applications, particularly rock support. The central point load can also be considered to replicate a rock bolt anchorage. EFNARC Plate Tests Being Sprayed Adfil test results The results above are for the 55mm long Durus S300 and the testing showed is for panels which were shotcrete. The energy absorption was543j at a deflection of 25 mm.

For comparison purposes we have also conducted cast panels and a summary of the results is as follows 25 Kg 6535 glued Steel fibres 4 Kg Durus S300 Energy absorption at 25 mm deflection was 805 Joules Energy absorption at 25 mm deflection was 819 Joules

Features & Benefits of Durus S300. Sustainability Green Policy. The carbon footprint of 1 Kg of macro synthetic fibres is 70 % less than that of 1Kg of steel fibres. Reduced Health & Safety Issues. Reduced manual handling 1 Kg of Durus S300 synthetic fibre is equivalent to approximately 6-7 Kg of steel fibres. Reduced HSE issues. The exposed fibres will not cut skin or rip work clothes. More user friendly packaging. Reduced storage issues on site. E.g.) 10,000M³ of shotcrete with need: 45 T (45 pallets) of Durus S300 OR Steel fibre you would need 250 T (250 Pallets). Cost effective. Reduced rebound compared to steel fibres. Increased M² covered per M³ of Concrete. Reduced fibre cost per M² No Rusting or Corrosion. No Surface Staining. Reduced Wear on Concrete Pumps, Spraying Nozzles and Equipment. Please Contact Us If You Need Any Further Details.
