A SQUARE DEAL: Sewer Rehabilitation and The Protective Lining of New Structures With KeraLine

«To ignore Keraline for the lining of all structures within a sewer network is unthinkable.» KeraLine elements are suitable for all designs, e.g. circular, oval, egg shape or rectangular shapes and can be applied as a partial or full lining.

KeraLine: Hardy and designed to last Sewers deteriorate. From internal corrosion of cement based surfaces due to the formation of biogenic sulfuric acid in domestic waste water, or from industrial waste. By abrasion from the affects of solids, grit and sand, or due to the mechanical stresses of highpressure-cleaning / jetting. Eventually the sewer starts leaking. Average life span: 50 years plus For man entry structures, KeraLine is the ideal non destructive solution for rehabilitation. Instead of digging up and replacing damaged sewers one should choose KeraLine. An installation system which incorporates the excellent properties of vitrified clay and has proven itself in the rehabilitation of man entry sewers and structures for more than 15 years. Applied as a partial or full lining, the operational life span of a sewer can be prolonged by 50 years or more. The marginal construction thickness of 20 mm has little impact on the hydraulic properties. In fact, in many cases, the hydraulics are better than with the original pipes due to the smooth characteristics of the vitrified clay. Patented and Proven In the factory the individual ceramic tiles are jointed by an approx mm wide string of epoxy resin (primary joint) in a patented process. This forms a standard KeraLine element of 50 cm (width) x 100 cm (length). Other dimensions are also possible and the panels can be flat or curved as required. The rough edges of the unglazed tiles offer excellent bonding properties with the epoxy resin. The prefabricated tile elements are pre-shaped to the required section and size during the setting time of the resin on corresponding negative moulds. Fast installation This preparatory work saves time and costs during the installation of the KeraLine elements. When being used for rehabilitation with restricted space, e.g. due to traffic, the system s flexibility offers decisive advantages by adjusting to the existing site conditions. Size of the entrance shaft determines the maximum size of the elements. Weighing just 16 kg and with a comfortable width of 50 cm they pass through every standard manhole opening. A versatile solution KeraLine elements are suitable for the lining of all types of structures in contact with the waste-water environment, in particular for sewers and structures of all cross-sections, e.g. circular, oval, egg shaped or rectangular-shapes, pumping stations and manholes. Apart from being used for rehabilitation the KeraLine elements can be applied as an internal corrosion protection in new constructions on large diameter concrete pipes or other structures within the aggressive sewer environment such as pumping stations or manholes. The Keraline elements are ideal for flooring in the food and drink industries such as fruit processing and dairy produce as they are resistant to the acids that result from the processes and chemicals used for cleaning.

KeraLine in practice Jointing individual ceramic tiles at the factory shorten the lining work on site. Customized shaping to the profile of the structure in both partial and full linings, accounts for versatility. The existing standard manhole openings can be used as access points eliminating the need for extra or special shafts. The Keraline panels are watertight while at the same time they permit diffusion to relieve hydrostatic or osmotic pressures. The linear coefficients of thermal expansion of KeraLine and the host structure made out of materials like clinker, concrete, reinforced concrete and brick work are nearly identical. Benefit: No stress and no separation between the lining material and the subsurface. Dove-tail shaped contours on the back of the tiles enables a stress-free compound structure when installed in situ using fresh mortar or when used in the lining of prefabricated concrete structures. The bonding strength is 1,5 N/mm2. Resistance to chemical attacks (ph 0 ph 14), to high-pressure cleaning / jetting and to abrasion guarantees a long service life, long depreciation periods, resulting in lower wastewater fees.

KeraLine recapitulated: n For rehabilitation works n For new construction n Customized geometry n Watertight n Permits diffusion n Resistant to high-pressure cleaning / jetting n High resistance to abrasion n Easily repaired n Minor construction thickness: minimum reduction in hydraulic section. n Large size elements n Easy adaptability to curves n Instantly accessible. Minimum waiting time after installation n Installation on ceilings possible n Once installed the element is immediately resistant to storm water surge. KeraLine the market leader The Keraline system with ceramic tile elements for the rehabilitation of leaking, deteriorated, man entry sewers has a proven track record over 15 years as the leader in the European markets.
