house Based on the findings, the group came up with enhancement and mitigation measures for positive and negative impacts respectively. These measures are fully described in attached document of environmental management and monitoring plans. The first one is the general environmental management plan; the second is the specific environmental implementation plan.

Environmental Impact identified Mitigation / Dates Construction Phase Water Water pollution Ensure proper storage, handling and disposal of paints and other wastes; Ensure pit latrines are located away from water resources; Stockpile soil away from water bodies to minimize runoff Manage water usage during so as not to disrupt beneficiary community Plan works schedule according to water demand EDO, DEHO -K200,000 During

Environmental Impact identified Mitigation / Dates Soil Soil erosion Minimize top soil disturbance; Landscape and revegetate borrow sites with creeping grass and indigenous shrubs; Backfill and compact the borrow sites Minimize areas to be disturbed around water resources; Air Dust Water should be sprayed during the phase on excavated areas and access roads leading to borrow pits, and the Project sites to minimise dust; Provision of protective wear to workers such as head, ear, mouth/nose muffs, EDO, DPW,DFO., EDO, DEHO -K100,000 -K100,000 During During

Environmental Impact identified Mitigation / Dates Noise Carry out regular maintenance of equipment according to manufacturers' specifications; Workers in the vicinity of high level noise to wear safety & protective gear Limit the number of days of operation; restrict hours of operation and schedule noisy tasks for periods of low occupancy on the project surroundings Biodiversity Loss of vegetation Minimise vegetation clearing; Landscape and plant trees or grass at all disturbed areas. Engineer Engineer, EDO, DFO - During -K200,000 During

Environmental Impact identified Mitigation / Dates Human health & safety Risk of accidents Increased incidence of water-borne and water related diseases e.g. malaria Backfill and revegetate borrow pits used during ; Control and restrict access to borrow sites Install danger warning signs on all accident prone areas. Sensitize community and employees on occupational, health, safety and welfare Employees to be encouraged to wear protective gear. Backfill and revegetate borrow pits used during Practice health hygiene; Construct pit latrines; Ensure proper disposal of wastes generated within the project site Engineer Local Health Centre, committee members K200,000 During 200,000 During Throughout project life
