3 The range is based on our competition winning designs for the Western Sydney Parklands Trust. The products have now been rolled out to a number of parkland projects under the control of the Western Sydney Parlands Trust, including Pimelea, Shale Hills, Plough and Harrow and Bungarribee. The designs, comprising seats, benches, tables, bollards, bike racks, bin enclosures and drinking fountains feature robust materials and striking asymmetrical forms which reflect the natural landscape as well as contemporary architectural trends. 4 PROSPECT BLOCK RANGE Block range Block Seat, Block Bench, Block Table This range is characterised by its solid concrete block base which firmly connects the product to the ground both physically and symbolically the concrete being an extension of the ground from which it emerges. Coupled to the concrete block is a substantial steel beam which supports the seating or table plane of DuraSlat. 6 PROSPECT TRUSS RANGE Truss range Truss Seat, Truss Bench, Truss Table This range is visually lighter than the Block range using an interlaced steel structure effectively creating a truss that at once anchors the product to the ground and provides cantilevered support for the seat or table plane. 8 940 PROSPECT DRINKING FOUNTAIN PDF.316SS.DB.BT The Drinking Fountain is a unique contemporary design providing comfortable access for persons of all abilities. The marine grade stainless steel frame, electro polished then further hand polished to a mirror finish offers the highest level of corrosion resistance making it suitable for the most extreme environments. Its features include quality off the shelf fixtures in the bubbler and bottle fill tap, which are readily serviceable, a self-filling dog bowl and a grate over the drainage outlet. The unit may be configured with any one, or all of these features and is available in the standard optimum height or a height conforming to the Australian disabled access standard. 11 DESIGN FEATURES Range Design Features Form The range is characterised by its asymmetrical cantilever construction and appearance which reflects both the predominant structural device in nature (the way plant material springs from the earth to the broad reaching boughs of our forest eucalypts) and contemporary architectural expression. Materials - Precast concrete with washed aggregate finish reflects the natural weathered sandstone of the region. DuraSlat, (recycled wood and plastic composite) in weathered grey, together with galvanised steel, reflect not only the silver colour of the gums in the area but also the remnants of our pastoral heritage weathered hardwood fencing and rural structures of corrugated iron and weathered hardwood. Construction - Whilst these materials provide strong references to the natural and built environments they have also been selected for their high durability and low maintenance characteristics: Material Properties Concrete provides the anchor for the Block range, is highly resistant to vandalism and general wear. It creates a visual sense of strength and durability. DuraSlat is a maintenance free wood composite with a 10 year warranty against degradation. It has been successfully used in b+g furniture products since 2006 and has been adopted as a standard by a number of municipal councils and Western Sydney Parklands Trust. - structural grade steel gives great strength to the products and requires no maintenance. Hot dip galvanising offers high corrosion resistance in most environments. Corrosion protection will be limited to 10 years in high exposure marine environments. Generally all products in the range are designed to minimise risk of theft of components through use of concealed or specialised fixings. Tamperproof fixings available on request.
