1 Terms of Reference Conduction of on the Job Training for Masons 1. BACKGROUND Rural Enterprise Development Centre (REDC) Nepal has been actively working in Tamakoshi Rural Municiplaity (Shahare, Chyama, Hanwa existing VDC) of Dolakha for Earthquake Recovery Program supported by Mercy Corps Nepal. As part of Mercy Corps s and REDC s commitment to contribute in the reconstruction process, REDC intends to conduct on-the-job training on earthquake resilient building techniques for semi-skilled masons in order to increase the availability of trained masons in the local area and increase people s access to skilled labor for reconstruction of houses and community structures. For this purpose, REDC is seeking proposals from an organization with required technical experience in conducting long term masons training or on the job training on the basis of earthquake resilient building techniques in Tamakoshi Rural Municipality. 2. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT: To conduct 6 numbers of on the job trainings to semi-skilled/unskilled masons in given Rural Municipality of Dolakha district for enhancing the skills on earthquake resistant building construction technology. To construct six model houses as per earthquake resistant building construction technology from the 50 days on the job training. To prepare completion report of the mason training and facilitate to carry out skill test. 3. SCOPE OF WORK: The contracted organization should be able to conduct training according to the requirements outlined in the objectives above and provide visual based timely reports. Conduct the 6 no job masons trainings to the semi-skilled/unskilled mason of Dolakha/Tamakoshi Rural Municipality. The training should be implemented in all the sites at the same time. Provide lead trainers and lead masons to conduct the on the job trainings. Submit the report after completion of training. Facilitate to carry out skill test of every participants. Provide the detail drawing of the building which is constructed during training. Building should be selected within the approved DUDBC design. Provide the detail schedule of material required during the training.

2 Verify the quality of construction material provided by REDC and beneficiaries. Ensure the quality of works. 4. GEOGRAPHICAL COVERAGE: The training sessions are expected to take place in Shahare, Chayma and Hanwa of existing VDC or 5, 6 and 7 wards of Tamakoshi Rural Municipality of Dolakha district. The specific sites will be decided with the stakeholder meeting. 5. METHODOLOGY: The detailed methodology will be construction of model houses from the 50 days on the job training on the basis of 390 hours mason training curriculum of CTEVT. Deliver the knowledge of earthquake resistant building construction technique on the basis of the curriculum by using practical and lecture method, audio visual, different tests, question and answer and different demonstration tools. 6. EXPECTED OUTCOME Six model houses are constructed under earthquake resistant building construction technology from the on the job training of masons. All the participants have enhanced skills and knowledge on earthquake resilient building technology of rural housing. Communities have local skilled masons essential for rebuilding of infrastructure in postearth quake reconstruction. 7. SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION The organization should have minimum 3 years of experience in conduction of long term mason training as per the CTEVT curriculum. The organization should have experience of construction of model houses under earthquake resistant building construction technology through the on the job method of the mason training. The organization should have sufficient mason trainers with strong background of conduction of mason trainings. The organization should be certified /affiliated from the CTEVT.

3 8. TIME FRAME The total duration of this contract will be 75 days for the consultancy to provide on the job mason training with construction of model houses and submission of completion report. Government of Nepal's tax regulation will apply and tax will be deducted at source. 10. RESPONSE The Consulting Institute/Firm should submit a proposal to REDC Dolakha by 16 th August 2017 via mail to redcdolakha@gmail.com or REDC Dolakha office clearly mentioning the title of assignment in their subject line with following attached documents: Detailed technical and financial proposal including work schedule and methodology Company registration certificate. VAT Registration Document. TAX Clearance Certificate. Copy of TOT of mason training of supervisor along with CV. Copy of certificate of mason training of lead masons along with CV. Total Budget Breakdown.
