14 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT 2015 Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) will be in charge of road improvement activities in 2015 MoTI will follow accepted traffic management practices: Maximum time limits for delays Avoiding construction delays during peak hours Traffic communications Other measures: Restricted hours of operation during school bus hours Vehicle inspections Increased snow removal 14

15 TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT Speed limits enforced by RCMP Shuttles: Airport Leisure Worker accommodation includes recreation and entertainment facilities 15

16 CONSTRUCTION ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT PLAN The Plan includes: Groundwater Protection Plan Air Quality Management Plan Blasting Management Plan Noise and Vibration Plan Draft plans provided for comment to regulatory agencies, Peace River Regional District, City of Fort St. John and District of Hudson s Hope Contractors required to hire environmental monitors Independent environmental monitoring and reporting on compliance 16

17 RECREATION AND RIVER ACCESS Boat launch access Peace Island Park boat launch will not be affected Halfway River, Lynx Creek, and DA Thomas Road will not be affected until late in construction (anticipated after construction Year 5) Transport Canada requires that one upstream launch is available throughout Project construction Navigation boundary markers Buoys in a line across the river 3 km upstream of dam site 3.5 km downstream of dam site Installation anticipated for later in

19 WORKER ACCOMMODATION Two Rivers Lodging Group (ATCO Structures & Logistics and Bird Design Build Construction Inc.) selected as the preferred proponent for the Site C worker accommodation contract The worker accommodation will be built to house approximately 1,600 workers, with services and utilities designed to accommodate a total capacity of 2,200, if required Business/job enquiries contact: Pierre Landry, ATCO Structures & Logistics Ltd. 20 SOUTH BANK CLEARING Contract for clearing the south bank of the Site C dam construction area awarded to Paul Paquette and Son s Contracting Ltd., based in Chetwynd This contract will provide approximately 40 jobs and includes: Removal of 620 hectares of trees and vegetation Construction of up to 30 kilometres of temporary access roads and associated landings Upgrading and maintaining an existing access road Collection and deposition of waste wood, as required Site preparation for bridge construction Business/job enquiries contact: twpowell@paulpaquette.com 20

21 UPDATE ON BC HOUSING BC Housing to develop a 50-unit multi-family housing development in Fort St. John BC Housing issued a Request For Information (RFI) in early March to inform the planning process The RFI sought information on: Respondents capacity and experience with energy-efficient design, development, and construction The availability of a suitable development site 21

22 HIRING ON SITE C Companies that are awarded contracts to build Site C will be responsible for hiring the workers they need Procurement is underway for several project contracts; expecting some contracts to be awarded in the coming months Successful contractors will be listed at along with information about how to contact them 22

30 2 About Site C The Site C Clean Energy Project will be a third dam and hydroelectric generating station on the Peace River in northeast B.C. Site C will provide 1,100 megawatts (MW) of capacity, and produce about 5,100 gigawatt hours (GWh) of electricity each year enough energy to power the equivalent of about 450,000 homes per year in B.C.
