DEFINITION OF STATEMENTS Statements in this manual preceded by the following words are of special significance: WARNING: Means there is a possibility of injury or death to yourself or others. CAUTION: Means there is a possibility of damage to the unit or other property. NOTE: Indicates points of particular interest for more efficient and convenient operation. TOOLS AND SUPPLIES NEEDED Stainless steel fastener systems (threaded fasteners, lock washers, flat washers, etc.); 5/16" recommended Wrenches: 7/16" for crate fasteners, 1/2" (or as required) for floor fasteners Phillips screwdriver Clear silicone caulk/sealer Tools for opening holes in floor surface Tools for installing fastener anchors Copper tube silver brazing equipment BEFORE YOU BEGIN 1. Notify facility you will be installing unit into gas piping system. 2. Verify interruption/connection into gas piping system has been authorized. WARNING: Failure to follow proper lockout/tagout procedures on electrical or pneumatic supply systems can result in injury, death, or property damage. UNPACKING SERVICE PEDESTAL 1. Remove screws from top of crate. Top is printed with REMOVE THIS SIDE FIRST message. 2. Remove packing foam and accessory carton (if required) from inside crate. Remove additional packing foam to expose pedestal lid. NOTE: #6-32 x.375 flat-head fasteners are taped to inside surface of lid. These are used to attach lid to pedestal unit after final inspection. 3. Remove lid from pedestal unit. 4. Reach into crate and remove four 1/4" nuts and retaining washers with 7/16" wrench (Figure 1). NOTE: Some units may be shipped with gas service and electrical outlets already installed. 2

3 5. Carefully lift entire pedestal unit out of crate and move to desired location. 6. Open accessory carton (if required) and verify that contents match packing list (Figure 2). Close accessory carton and set aside until final assembly. NOTE: Figures are for illustration purposes only. Actual unit may vary in size and configuration from what is shown in figures. Figure 2. INSTALLING PEDESTAL 1. Place pedestal unit in desired location and mark four corner fastener locations on floor surface. Reference standard pedestal footprint dimensions (Figure 3). Mark locations for gas and electrical service(s) that will be routed through floor into unit (Figure 4). 2. Move pedestal unit aside and prepare floor area for installation. Attach fasteners into floor surface. Route gas and electrical service(s) through proper openings in floor surface. NOTE: It is recommended installer use 5/16" diameter stainless steel fasteners with anchors. 4 3. Position pedestal unit and attach four corner fasteners. Assembly should be mounted securely to floor surface (Figure 5). 4. Attach medical gas piping to gas service extension(s) on outlet block(s) mounted on inside of pedestal (Figure 5). Follow procedures explained in National Fire Protection Association, NFPA 99. NOTE: Electrical rough-in boxes may be temporarily removed to improve access to gas service extensions during brazing. WARNING: Each gas service extension is identified by color-coded gas service labeling. It is the responsibility of the installer to be certain that all outlets are correctly connected and system integrity is verified by system certification testing. 5. Route electrical wiring leads to appropriate mounting box locations. Follow procedures explained in local codes. 6. Use clear silicone sealer (to be supplied by installer) to seal interface between pedestal unit and floor surface. 7. Remove protective film (when appropriate) and wipe exterior surface clean. Scratches and marks resulting from normal handling can be removed by carefully rubbing surface (following grain pattern) with a 3M ScotchBrite-type of material. Figure 5. ELECTRICAL RECEPTACLE INSTALLATION Make appropriate wiring connections to each receptacle (receptacles may be located at any opening on pedestal unit). Fasten receptacles to pedestal unit using mounting screws provided. Attach trim coverplates, as required, using mounting screws (Figure 6). Figure 6. 4

5 1. Remove fasteners from inside of lid. LID INSTALLATION 2. Place lid onto pedestal unit and install fasteners securely (Figure 7). Figure 7. PROTECTION DURING REMAINDER OF CONSTRUCTION AND CLEANING 1. Cover unit with clean, soft cloth or other appropriate materials to protect unit from dust and damage during completion of room construction. 2. Outlets may be wiped down with alcohol or mild detergent solution to clean. 3. Stainless steel surface may be cleaned with any suitable cleaner. WARRANTY Modular Services Company warrants that all equipment assemblies shall be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of 12 months from date of the owner s acceptance to the installing contractor or the date the equipment is put into service, whichever comes first. Warranty excludes electric lamps and/or any material not furnished by Modular Services. Warranty does not cover damage due to improper installation and/or abuse. It is the responsibility of the customer to report any noted product deficiencies to Modular Services immediately upon discovery. It is the responsibility of Modular Services to expediently resolve the discrepancy. Any modification made to the product without the written authorization from Modular Services will void this warranty. Also, in the event product modifications or repairs are made without the written consent of Modular Services, Modular Services shall not be liable for any cost associated with the modification or repair.
