1 !!! ATTENTION PAINT DEPARTMENT!!! IMPORTANT FLEXROCK TINTING TIPS Beauti-Tone FlexRock is fully tintable using your in store Beauti-Tone colourants and mixed on your paint shaker. There are pre-determined themes as outlined in the brochure and shown on FlexRock fan deck that your customer can choose and you can tint using the FlexRock tint guide or if your customer wants more choices you can tint from your Beauti-Tone colour palette: * FlexRock is available in white base and clear base. There is no medium base. * Any colours calling for a medium base can be tinted using FlexRock white base. FLEXROCK BEAUTI-TONE TINTING FORMULAS: 1) Tintable White base: 20% (multiplier.20) of called for formula into FlexRock white base 2) Medium base 30% (multiplier.30) of called for formula into FlexRock white base 3) Clear base 100% (start at 50% up to 100%) of called for formula into FlexRock clear base **When calculating these percentages any variances should be rounded up or down to the nearest (1/96th). Remember this is not paint so these variances are going to happen and should be explained to your customer before tinting, that a slight colour shift could occur** TINTING RESULTS: Keep in mind FlexRock is NOT PAINT. It is important to STRESS this fact to your customer. Standard colour chips are on a smooth flat surface. FlexRock's stone-based granular composition automatically modifies the colour match due to the textured nature of the finish. There is also reflectivity from the angular surfaces of the individual stones which can also alter the appearance of the colour and depending on the direction which it is viewed could even cause an exact colour match to appear as though it is still off. Also keep in mind many application techniques involve multiple colours to be blended or overlaid with one another ultimately creating a look rather than a straight colour. SELLING TIPS FlexRock is basically faux finish for floors you can walk on and your customer is likely to require more than one colour to achieve their desired effect. It's important to know how much of each colour to tint and sell for each job. FlexRock installations can usually be broken down into distinct parts as follows: 1) Textured Primer Coat (grout coat) - is a standard component of all Beauti-Tone stone coating systems and in the FlexRock system also acts as a grout line for pattern effects which can be tinted to your customers desired colour. **FlexRock white base formulas work for tinting primer grout colours** 2) Base Coat - is the main colour of your finish which you can be roll or trowel on at a thickness of 1/16-1/8. This coat is applied over top of any taped out pattern. Average coverage sq.ft. per gallon. 3) Mix Colour - is an accent colour mixed into the wet base coat to achieve colour blends. It is randomly added sparingly to the base colour for desired effect. Note FlexRock is sold in quarts for this purpose. Average coverage 100 sq.ft. per quart depending on application technique. 4) Sponge Highlight - is an accent colour sponged onto DRY FlexRock surface which allows all the peaks and ridges in the texture to pick up this colour. Average coverage 200 sq.ft. per quart depending on application technique. 5) Colour Wash - powder available in Black, Earth Brown and Terracotta is mixed with water and washed over DRY FlexRock surface allowing pitted texture to take up the colour and produce an antiquing effect. Available in 6oz. jars. To avoid any unnecessary frustration and to make the FlexRock line a great experience for your customer these facts simply need to be communicated from the outset.

Each theme represents several FlexRock tinted colors combined to create an appealing finish of natural stone ideal for many surfaces. Final results will vary depending on the proportion of each color used and the degree of blending performed. FlexRock is randomly applied for a custom application, enjoy!
