12 profiles & coloured sealant SELF SEALING 2 PART CORNER PROFILES (patent pending) PROFILE COLOURS Once you have selected a colour for your Mermaid panels, simply advise your retailer of your shower enclosure or bathroom size and all the required profiles in a complementary colour will be ordered as part of your complete kit, including adhesive and sealant. Alternatively, you can specify chrome aluminium profiles to create a more striking impression and combine perfectly with contemporary chrome bathroom fittings. COLOURED SEALANT The internal and external corner profiles use a revolutionary 2-part self-sealing profile system that requires no sealant. The unique design incorporates a PVC back section and either a PVC colour co-ordinated or polished chrome aluminium decorative face. Quick and easy to use, the two parts of the system simply click together, with the Mermaid panel in between. A self-adhesive barrier tape on the inside of the profile creates a watertight joint. On long shower walls or round an entire bathroom, you would use tongued and grooved panels for a neat join, and because these do not require a profile, a high quality mastic sealant is provided to ensure a watertight seal. Mermaid sealant is included in your kit on delivery and is a superior sanitary grade silicon with fungicide that outperforms standard sealant. What s more, all Mermaid sealant is colour coordinated with the decors in each environment so not only will you be guaranteed a watertight join, you ll be able to enjoy a completely co-ordinated bathroom. MULTI PURPOSE ADHESIVE EDGING PROFILE The outer edge of Mermaid panels would be fitted with an edging profile to give it a neat co-ordinated finish. Mermaid panels are normally fitted to the wall with concealed fixings (screws or nails). However where the use of a mechanical (screws or nails) fixing is limited, and as additional attachment, adhesive can also be used, particularly with 900mm and 1200mm panels. When installing 600mm tongued and grooved panels, adhesive should be used behind the fixing lip (if nailing) and can be used to secure the final panel piece above the door. BOTTOM SEAL PROFILE Whereas in conventional installations using tiles, very often leaks occur as the seal between the bath or shower tray and the wall eventually breaks down due to movement through use, with Mermaid panels this need never happen. That s because an innovative Mermaid bottom seal system has been specially designed to accommodate expansion and contraction. The patented profile and a special formulation sealant combine together to offer the ultimate in leak-proof installations that even allows for shower trays to drop as much as 10mm and still remain watertight. COVING - THE FINISHING TOUCH Attention to detail can make Mermaid bathrooms more than just beautiful. Decorative coving offers a neat finishing touch where Mermaid panels meet the ceiling and is a perfect way to complete your bathroom. Manufactured in white PVC, the coving can be easily fitted in two parts with concealed fixings for a highly attractive finish. 13 it s so simple... TO ORDER Once you ve decided on a beautiful colour from the wide inspirational choice available, the rest is simple. For ease of ordering, Mermaid panels are now offered in convenient kits - simply tell your retailer which colour you desire, together with the size of your shower or bathroom wall, and they will order the relevant kit on your behalf. Everything you or your installer will need to complete a Mermaid installation is supplied in the kit, including Mermaid panels, colour co-ordinated profiles, Mermaid Transeal bottom seal system, fixing guidelines, adhesive, Sealux-N sealant, a mitre box and even a revolutionary E-Cloth for easy cleaning! TO INSTALL Mermaid panels are very easy to fit - in fact much easier than tiles. No special equipment is needed, just normal woodworking tools. Nor will you need to worry about Mermaid panels cracking or chipping like tiles - and what s more, a large area can be covered in a fraction of the time it would take to tile the same area. Best of all, no messy grouting is needed, so you can use the bathroom or shower virtually straight away - and you ll have no more problems with unpleasant and unhygienic mould penetration. One ShowerWall panel is equivalent to 216 tiles (tile size 100mm x 100mm) You can fit Mermaid to most types of wall, including brick, block or concrete walls; to plasterboard; to studwork; and even over the top of existing ceramic tiles.... in the bathroom Just start fitting Mermaid 600mm panels in one corner and continue round both sides of the room so that you finish over the door. You ll have no trouble drilling the panels for mirrors or cabinets - and unlike with tiles, you ve no need to worry that Mermaid panels will crack whilst you re drilling them.... in the shower Mermaid panels can be used in either a 2-sided or a 3-sided shower enclosure. There are two ShowerWall sizes available to perfectly fit most shower trays, ensuring that the only join line will be at the corners - where you would use a decorative profile in a co-ordinated colour to conceal the join The 900mm Hi-ShowerWall* panels can be invisibly fixed to the wall through the fixing lip. With the 1200mm Wide ShowerWall* panels, you would face-fix through the panel, ensuring that the screws will be hidden by the shower screen. Alternatively you could use Norske Interiors adhesive to securely fix the Wide ShowerWall panel to the wall TECHNICAL DETAILS Mermaid waterproof panels have been specially developed in Norway for use in wet areas such as bathrooms and showers. They have been tested by the Norwegian Building Research Institute, and have been awarded NBI Technical Approval No 2294 for use in wet areas. The substrate of Mermaid panels is a 9mm water-resistant WBP plywood (meeting the requirements of EN635). A decorative High Pressure Laminate (HPL) is then bonded to the plywood, to give a completely waterproof surface (meeting the requirements of EN438). A balancing laminate is bonded to the reverse of the panel. There are three different formats specially designed to suit shower enclosures or to install around the bathroom.
