PROJECT NAME AND SITE DESCRIPTION Description of the Project Project implementation area, Community The main purpose of the sub-project is the improvement of pastures watering network in Vaghashen Community providing sufficient water supply for 758 bovine cattle and 622 small cattle directly in the pasture. The following construction activities will be implemented under the proposed sub-project: Construction of one water collection chamber Installation of new water pipeline 1150 total length (D= 160x9,5 mm) Construction of one metallic troughs one- 24 length The design for pastures watering network has been developed by the Jrarbi LLC design company under the contract concluded with Agricultural Project Implementation Unit. Republic of Armenia, Gegharkunik marz, Vaghashen Community Project site location Project implementation area is located at a distance of 145 km from Yerevan city, and in 6-7 km from Vaghashen Community. Land ownership Waterway will be connected to Community water pipeline, for which Vaghashen Community provided reference letter. Land required for the project implementation belongs to Community. Letter on land ownership from the Vaghashen Community Head is attached. 2

3 Description of geographic, physical, biological, geological, hydrographic and socio-economic context Locations and distance for material sourcing, especially aggregates, water, stones LEGISLATION Indentify national and local legislation and permits that apply to project activity PUBLIC CONSULTATION Identify when/where the public consultation took place ATTACHMENTS The sub-project site is located in Gegharkunik marz, in Vaghashen Community area. Vaghashen is located on eastern part of Sevan lake, located on Gegahama mountain chain, summer pastures are located on 1900 m, above sea level. Climatic conditions of the Vaghashen possesses is mild mountainous. The winter is cold, snowy. The summer is warm, few clouds, comparatively humid weather. The Sevan Lake mitigates the winter frost and summer heat. Because of the lake, the average temperature in January is almost the same as in Yerevan. Precipitation is not abundant, mm on the lake surface, up to 1000 in the mountains. Water for construction works will be provided by water cistern track. Aggregates and machinery will be obtained from the licensed providers within the project area. Contractor may choose to extract equipment himself, in which case contractor must obtain an extraction license prior to commencement of extraction. Metallic and PE pipes as well as all fittings will be purchased from an official supplier. Permits required for accomplishing the works envisaged by the project: Construction license to be possessed by Construction Contractor, Construction permit to be obtained by the Construction Contractor from Vaghashen municipality, Reference to water pipeline connection from Vaghashen Community Head, Written consent for disposal of construction waste to be obtained by Construction Contractor from the Head of Vaghashen Community, Land ownership letter possessed by the Vaghashen Community Public consultations on the sub-project have been carried out in Vaghashen Community. General conditions Notification and Worker Safety (a) The local construction and environment inspectorates and communities have been notified of upcoming activities (b) The public has been notified of the works through appropriate notification in the media and/or at publicly accessible sites (including the site of the works) (c) All legally required permits have been acquired for construction and/or rehabilitation (d) The Contractor formally agrees that all work will be carried out in a safe and disciplined manner designed to minimize impacts on neighboring residents and environment. (e) Workers PPE will comply with international good practice (hardhats, as needed masks and safety glasses, harnesses and safety boots). (f) Appropriate signposting of the sites will inform workers of key rules and regulations to follow. A. General Rehabilitation and / or Construction Activities Air Quality Noise Waste management (a) The surrounding environment shall be kept free of debris (b) There will be no open burning of construction / waste material at the site (c) There will be no excessive idling of construction vehicles at sites (a) Construction noise will be limited to day-time hours (b) During operations the engine covers of generators, air compressors and other powered mechanical equipment shall be closed, and equipment placed as far away from residential areas as possible (a) Waste collection and disposal pathways and sites will be identified for all major waste types expected from construction activities. (b) Construction waste will be collected and disposed at the agreed site (c) Whenever feasible the contractor will reuse and recycle appropriate and viable materials (except asbestos) 5
