2 SECTION METAL SHADE STRUCTURE PART 1 - GENERAL 1.01 STRUCTURE TYPE A. Structure shall be free standing rigid frame and gable roof with slopes as indicated. Structure shall also include foundation, manufactured trusses, gutters and downspouts, sound walls, and chain link walls as indicated on drawings. B. is responsible for all details, connections, materials, etc. for a complete shade structure SUBMITTALS A. Shop Drawings: Submit one set of reproducible shop drawing transparencies, and one print, showing framing, construction, and connection details, dimensions, materials gauges; locations, sizes, and setting details for anchors in concrete. PART 2 - STRUCTURAL FRAMING 2.01 GENERAL A. Materials: Hot-rolled structural steel ASTM A36 or ASTM A441. Hot-rolled steel sheet ASTM A245. Cold-formed steel ASTM A446. B. Steel Requirements: 36,000 psi minimum yield strength steel for welded plate members. 50,000 psi minimum yield strength steel for light-gauge cold-formed structural members STRUCTURAL FRAMING COMPONENTS A. All structural steel design, fabrication and erection shall conform to the latest edition of the AISC manual of steel construction, "Allowable Stress Design". B. Steel for wide flange shapes and built-up column members shall conform to ASTM A572 Grade 50 or ASTM A992. All other structural steel base plates and braces shall conform to ASTM A36. C. All anchor bolts shall conform to ASTM A36 galvanized unless noted. The anchor bolt length will depend on the type of anchor used. D. All welding shall conform to American Welding Society D1.1 and Electrodes shall be E70XX. E. All fabricated steel members are to be hot dip galvanized after fabrication per ASTM A123 unless otherwise noted ERECTION A. General: Erect structural framing true to line, level and plumb; rigid and secure. Level base plates to a true even plane with a full bearing on the concrete surface and secured by anchor bolts. 3 3.01 ROOFING SHEETS A. Roof Panel Assembly: Roofing: The metal roof system shall be standing seam, either steel or aluminum and shall have a factory color finish, gauge 24, minimum, Galvalume with slope of 4 in 12. Metal fascia and gutters shall be integral with the metal roof system. B. Sheet Length: Wall sheets single-length pieces to eave height, requiring no end splices except at gables. Roof sheets single-length except for ridge cap end splices only SOUND WALL PANEL ASSEMBLY A. LSE Noise Barrier by Sound Fighter Systems L.L.C. or approved equal. B. See Drawings for panel and gate layout FENCING AND GATES A. All fencing and gates shall be nine (9) feet high to the bottom of the headers and comply with the provisions of the Standard Specifications Section 80-4; Chain Link Fence (See 16 of the Applicable Rules and Provisions.) B. All fence components including fabric, posts, framework, and gates shall be galvanized as per Section of the Standard Specifications. C. Posts, gates, framework, and other components shall be at the prescribed weights and ratings required per the Standard Specifications. D. Fabric for all fencing shall be minimum 11-gauge per section B of the Standard Specifications. E. Installation details shall be per the Standard Plans A85, A85A, and A85B (See 16 of the Applicable Codes and Requirements.) 3.04 ACCESSORIES A. Fasteners: Fasteners for steel wall and roof panels shall be zinc-coated steel, aluminum corrosion resisting steel, or nylon capped steel of type and size specified below or as otherwise approved for the applicable requirements. Fasteners for aluminum wall and roof panels shall be a aluminum or corrosion resisting steel with a tensile and shear strength of not less than 750 pounds per fastener. B. Fasteners for accessories shall be the manufacturer=s standard. Exposed roof fasteners shall be gasketed washers on the exterior side of the covering to waterproof the fasteners penetration. Washer material shall be compatible with the covering; have a minimum diameter 3/8 inch for structural connections; and gasketed portion of fasteners or washers shall be neoprene, or other equally durable elastomeric material, approximately 1/8-inch thick. When wall covering is factory color finished, exposed wall fasteners shall be color finished or provided with plastic color caps to match the covering. Nonpenetrating fasteners system using concealed clips shall be manufacturer=s standard for the system provided. C. Fasteners for use with explosive actuated tools shall have a shank diameter of not less than inch with a shank length of not less than 2 inch for fastening panels and not less than 1 inch for fastening panels to concrete. 2 of 3

4 D. Blind rivets shall be aluminum with 3/16-inch nominal diameter shank or stainless steel with 1/8-inch nominal diameter shank. Rivets shall be threaded stem type if used for other than the fastening of trim. Rivets will hollow stems have closed ends. PART 4 - GUTTERS AND DOWNS POUTS 5.01 DESIGN A. Gutters and down spouts shall be designed according to the requirements of SMACNA-02 for storms which should be exceeded only once in 5 years and with adequate provisions for thermal expansions and contraction. Supports for gutters and down spouts shall be designed for the anticipated loads MATERIALS A. Gutters and down spouts shall be fabricated of aluminum, zinc-coated steel or aluminum-zinc alloy coated steel and shall have manufacturer=s standard factory color finish. Minimum uncoated thickness of materials shall be inch for steel and inch for aluminum. All accessories necessary for the complete installation of the gutters and down spouts shall be furnished> Accessories shall include gutter straps, down spouts elbows, down spout straps, and fasteners fabricated from metal compatible with the gutters and down spouts INSTALLATION A. Provide zinc-coated wire strainer at each outlet. Gutters shall effectively drain to down spouts. Securely fasten gutters and down spouts to building. END OF SECTION. 3 of 3
