2 Provides both form & function The current trend for modern, chunky style furniture is now seen in a wide range of environments including the office and commercial sectors and is now a popular requirement within the leisure industry as well as frequently being used in our homes. This style of furniture is a modern choice for use in the manufacture of bathroom, bedroom and kitchen furniture including worktops, vanity units, coffee & dining tables, benching and shelving. Traditionally the most common method to achieve this type of effect was to laminate a number of core boards together to achieve the required thickness, but despite the introduction of lightweight and ultra lightweight MDF the finished product was extremely heavy, difficult to install/ move around and impractical as a piece of furniture. Starbank s solution The STARlite Composite Lightweight Panel - manufactured using an extruded foam core, sandwiched between two outer layers of a choice of materials. Full sheets or cut size panels can be supplied in a range of finishes including Laminate, Melaminefaced, or raw MDF either with a painted finish or veneered with the species of your choice with polished finish if required. 3 Extensive design capabilities STARLITE AVAILABLE EX STOCK SHEET SIZES SHEET THICKNESS MINIMUM ORDER QUANTITIES As a standard size we have available 3050mm x 1220mm x 48mm comprising 31mm foam core laminated two sides MDF which when laminated both sides achieves an overall thickness of 50mm. Standard board sizes are 3050 x 1220 or 2400 x 1200 with large or smaller options available on request. The foam core is available from 10mm up to approximately 150mm thick and can be laminated to either face with any standard MDF board from 3mm up to 38mm thick, with the option of different thicknesses to each face. Unlike other lightweight boards available on the market there are no minimum order quantities required. Using a foam core instead of wood decreases the amount of wood used by around 25-40% dependent on the exact product and application Foam core technical data The Styrofoam used in our STARLite product has a high strength to weight ratio, with a smooth dust free surface which is ideal for bonding applications. The density of the Styrofoam is approximately 33kg/m 3 and achieves EUROCLASS E in the reaction to Fire classification. The Styrofoam can also withstand a wide temperature range from -50/+75ºC. The Styrofoam is available cut to any thickness using a hot wire cutting method, which enables panels to be produced to our customers individual requirements. Board finishes Unlike other similar lightweight boards available on the market STARlite boards do not demand full pack quantities and can be supplied in a range of finishes including the following. High pressure laminate using any of the leading manufactures including Formica, Polyrey, Arpa, Thermopal, Altofina to name but a few. Melamine faced panels supplied using decorative faced MDF. Veneered MDF supplied in the species of your choice including Beech, Oak, Walnut and Maple which can be supplied with a polished finish if required. Raw MDF faced, supplied with MDF faces which can be supplied with a paint finish to the colour of your choice. STARlite fabrication options Starbank offer the panels supplied as full size sheets or can be supplied to your specific cut sizes. These include the facility to provide the panel edged with ABS or real wood edging from 2mm up to 18mm thick. Panels can be supplied with square or curved edges including circular and oval table tops and wave and delta shaped worktops. In addition components can be supplied pre-drilled to your requirements including inserts and individual packaging. In addition panels can be supplied complete with additional MDF fixing blocks. Edging options Panels up 50mm thick are available supplied pre-edged in a range 2mm edgings, these include ABS/PVC in a range of colours and patterns or real wood veneered in the species of your choice. Assembly - fixings Components are available pre-drilled for assembly using standard hollow board fixings as illustrated. In addition Starbank has developed a system whereby the fixings can be concealed using a magnetic laminated strip which hides all of the fixings giving a much neater and cleaner appearance.
