3 Design, Construction and Maintenance EVZ Brockman Engineering specialises in the design, construction and maintenance of steel storage tanks for the oil, chemical and water resources industries as well as the shop fabrication of platework, ductwork and structural components for the aluminium, cement, fertiliser and power generation industries. Within our maintenance works we have jacked a number of tanks up to 36M diameter to a height of up to 3M to allow access under the tank for inspection and repairs and reconstruction of the foundations. A feature of our method of jacking is that it allows us to lift the tank in a level plane thereby reducing local stresses and the likelihood of the tank shell buckling. Other innovations in the tank maintenance works include the building of a cold cutting machine to remove floors in tanks where a substantial amount of hydrocarbons has leaked under the floor making it unsafe to use other methods of cutting. EVZ Brockman Engineering was originally established in Geelong in 1921 and currently operate a steel fabrication facility and design office in Forest Road, Corio. This facility also serves as a base for our site construction and maintenance operations throughout the Eastern States of Australia. Most of our work revolves around providing liquid and bulk storage facilities in the form of tanks, silos and hoppers and is generally received on a design and construct basis with the majority of works for the water industry awarded as full turn key projects incorporating earthworks, foundations, surface treatment, cathodic protection, electrical works and piping.
