Kershaw Mechanical Services employs the majority of its own labour. The company is structured to successfully handle M&E projects in excess of 10 million. You will be assured that current house building energy standards are met. Kershaw Contracting Services installs a variety of insulation products, designed to produce the U values required by current building regulations. Services include cavity wall insulation with a 25 year CIGA guarantee, timber frame insulation, fire barrier protection, sprayed and injected polyurethane, draught proofing and external wall insulation. With a history stretching back more than 120 years, the majority of the group s directors have risen through the ranks, giving Kershaw a unique heritage and stability. And the current commitment to training will ensure this continues in the future. Kershaw takes on new apprentices every year, and puts them through rigorous in-house training and local college courses. This has been developed through close links with colleges and other sources of expertise. Kershaw has a long term approach to its people and promotes from within wherever possible. The future managers and directors are working on the ground floor right now. Kershaw encourages high flyers to significantly develop their skills and rise into positions of responsibility. 18 Our People Committed to the local community As you would expect from a company that has a trading history stretching back 120 years, Kershaw is firmly in the centre of the community where it is based. The group has been a main shirt sponsor of Cambridge United since 2001, holding the local record for the longest continuous shirt sponsorship. Kershaw Mechanical Services supports grassroots football, sponsoring the Cambridgeshire Football Association Premier Leagues since The association is believed to be the longest sponsorship deal in footballing history. Several Kershaw staff play in the leagues, which are known locally as the Kershaw Leagues. Kershaw is firmly in the centre of the community where it is based Every year Kershaw Group raises money for East Anglia s Children s Hospices (EACH). Staff fundraise each year at Christmas.

19 Health and Safety A total commitment to excellent health and safety We understand our responsibility towards Health & Safety, which no doubt has helped us in maintaining our accredited partnership to the CHAS scheme. Kershaw Group regards compliance with health and safety law as a crucial area of management responsibility. This is an area that is also strictly monitored by The Group s external health and safety advisors Construction Safety Advisory Services with regular site visits and toolbox talks conducted to continually promote a culture of safety. As a result The Group has an exemplary track record in respect of health and safety. Kershaw aims to lead the health and safety agenda over and above compliance with local legislation, safety standards and other industry requirements. The Group has an established Health & Safety Committee which meets regularly to discuss and enact the Incident and Injury Free objectives on sites and in offices around the country. As part of its continuous improvement programme, Kershaw is working towards the BS OHSAS 18001:2007 accreditation for Health & Safety Management Systems. The Group will then have a fully integrated Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety Management System. We manage all of our activities in such a way that it reduces our environmental impact to a practicable minimum.
