2 2 NAME OF WORK : Construction of fencing on sui and vershamedi side at port Navlakhi. 1.0 GENERAL INSTRUCTION 1.1 This bill of quantities must be read with the drawings, conditions of contract and the specifications and the contractor shall be deemed to have examined the drawings, specifications, and conditions of contract and to have acquainted himself with the detailed description of the work to be done and the way in which they are to be carried out. A complete set of drawings is available in the office of the Executive Engineer (CIVIL),, Gujarat Maritime Board, V.C. Fatak,. The contractor may study the drawings on any working day during office hours. 1.2 Notwithstanding that the work has been sectionalized, every part of it shall be deemed to be supplementary to and or into it, as far as it may be practicable to do so. 1.3 The detailed descriptions of work and materials given in the specification are necessarily repeated in the bill of quantities. 1.4 The quantities given in the bill of quantities are approximate only and are given to provide a common basis for tendering. Payment shall be made according to the actual quantities of work ordered and carried out as measured by the EIC and valued at the rates and prices quoted in the bill of quantities. 2.0 RATE AND PRICES TO BE INCLUSIVE 2.1 Rate and prices set against each items are to be the full inclusive value of the finished work shown on the drawings and or description in the specification or which can reasonably be inferred there from and are to cover the cost of provision of plant, labour, supervision, materials, erection including de-watering, curing, insurance maintenance, overheads and profits and every incidental and contingent cost and charges whatsoever including sales tax and general tax and every kind of temporary work executed or used in connection with (except those items in respect of which provision has been separately made in the bill of quantities ) and all the contractors obligations under contract and all matters and things necessary for the proper completion and maintenance of the work. 2.2 The specifications are intended to cover the supply of materials and the execution of all works necessary to complete the work. Should there be any details of construction or materials which have not been referred to in the specifications or in the bills of quantities and drawings, but necessary for which may reasonably be implied or inferred there from, or which are usual or essential for completion of the works in all trades, the same shall be deemed to be included in the rates and prices named by the contractor in the bill of quantities. The rates and prices are to cover the item as described in the bill of quantities specification or drawings, the description on the bill of quantities shall prevail. 2.3 Each individual item in the bill of quantities is to be priced or if any items are not priced it is to be indicated under each item or items, the value of the work has been included. Items, the prices of which are same, shall not be bracketed, If the contractor omits to price any item, the cost of work of such item will be held to be

3 3 spread over and included in the prices given for other items. He is not to mark items included when the rate is asked for. 3.0 METHOD OF MEASURMENT: Unless stated or billed otherwise, quantity shall be measured in accordance with the latest Indian standard method of measurement and not as they are finished and fixed in the works. The rates and prices shall include whatsoever allowance is considered by the contractor to be necessary for waste, working areas, construction slopes, batters etc. 4.0 PRIME COSTS AND PROVISIONAL SUMS: No expenditure shall be undertaken by the contractor against prime cost or provisional sums except on the written order from the EIC. 5.0 CURRENCY: All monetary references herein and the bill of quantities shall be in Indian Rupee currency.
