3 Index Polimar is the high performance range of liquid applied roofing, cladding and balcony waterproofing systems. Polimar systems are extremely versatile, completely cold applied and can be specified to match the longevity of your project through a range of build up options. Polimar liquid applied technology has been awarded accreditation from the British Board of Agrément (BBA no. 11/4842) for a life expectancy of 25 years and also has European Technical Approval certification (ETA - 05/0193). Polimar is part of IKO s cold applied portfolio.cold applied systems meet the demand for systems offering higher resistance to fire and the spread of flames. Benefits of Cold Applied Roofing Systems Rapid, clean, safe and sustainable Installation no hot bitumen/gas bottles on site Reduced levels of fumes, CO 2 emissions and noise Less health and safety risk Reduced insurance premiums. 02 About IKO Polimar Roofing Systems Polimar EC/UV 15 & 20 Year Systems 08 Polimar WG 10 Year System 09 Polimar Seal 5 Year System 10 Polimar Glaze Glass Protection System 11 Polimar CRS External Cladding System 12 Polimar BWS Balcony System 13 Ancillaries 14 Sustainable Roofing 15 Polimar Coverage Rates Polimar is just one of a comprehensive range of waterproofing systems from IKO, enabling the specifier or contractor to be guided through the process of selecting the most suitable waterproofing option for each project. 4 Whelmar House, Skelmersdale The Polimar range has been specifically developed to provide short and long term waterproofing for both new build and refurbishment projects. Polimar provides a flexible, high performance UV resistant coating that forms a seamless waterproofing barrier. High levels of strength make Polimar the obvious choice for areas with difficult access and intricate detailing requirements. Polimar is suitable for warm or cold roofs whether the roof is flat, inverted, green or profiled/pitched sheeting. It is suitable for use on mastic asphalt, reinforced bitumen membranes, cement, concrete, metal and plastisol coated sheets. Polimar can be installed over an existing sound substrate without the requirement to strip and remove the existing roof build-up minimising internal disturbance and creating long term savings. IKO s warm roof build-up complies with Part L of the Building Regulations. The build-up consists of the latest cold applied technology from the installation of the high performance vapour control layer and insulation (including tapered insulation if required) to the final liquid applied top coat. A Polimar preparation membrane acts as a dimensionally stable and reinforced base, ideal for the subsequent application of the specified Polimar liquid coating. 5 Polimar Roofing Systems Cheshire Street Project, London Inverted roofs are increasingly specified for new construction projects where flexibility of design and finish is required e.g. green roofs, ballasted, paving etc. A choice of liquid systems are available and, when installed by an approved installer, they are supported by a single point guarantee from 5 to 20 years covering materials, design and workmanship. The Polimar range also includes a cladding refurbishment system, a fast curing balcony and walkway system plus ancillary components and insulation. Benefits of Polimar Liquid Systems High performance waterproofing Totally cold applied Seamless and smooth finish Speed of application Versatile Facilitates detailing work in complex areas Excellent bond Durable UV resistant Accomodates cyclic thermal movement. 6 Whelmar House, Skelmersdale The Polimar EC/UV system is available in both 15 and 20 year designed solutions. This premium system is highly flexible in its design and is suitable for all roof types including warm, inverted and green as well as full overlay applications. The high performance polyurethane resins are extremely durable and puncture resistant and the manageable pack size of the products are ideal for areas of limited access. The flat roof is reinforced with the Polimar GRF glass fibre reinforcing fleece (100gsm for the 15 year system and 225gsm for the 20 year system). The reinforcing fleece gives the product strength and stability on a flat substrate. One to two coats of the Polimar UV stable top coat are applied to complete the roof, depending on design solution. In situations with profiled sheeting or pitched roofing isolated reinforcing is applied to all panelled joints and abutments, using the Polimar KRM and Polimar BT products (see ancilliaries section of this brochure). In addition the Polimar EC/UV system can incorporate a fully integrated slip resistant finish for balconies and walkways. The system offers a durable result which provides excellent waterproof protection for balconies, walkways and any areas of regular footfall. 20 year Polimar EC/UV system for pitched roofs Polimar UV top coat Polimar EC embedment coat Polimar GP Priming Solution Polimar BT Bridging Tape as specified, fully bonded to each side of panelled joints Polimar KRM Knitted Reinforced Matting fully encapsulated into the embedment coat Suitability of the substrate needs to be verified by IKO Technical Services prior to application. 14 Sustainable Roofing Roofs play a crucial role in the energy management of buildings. Roof surfaces must not only be durable and waterproof, but must also offer the building owner a wide range of options relating to environment, energy saving and energy generation. Polimar offers an exceptional waterproofing medium to compliment the IKOgreen and IKO Solar roofing systems - innovative design solutions from IKO that address sustainable roof engineering. Green roof design can help to redress the balance of nature by significantly improving air quality and reducing water run-off. Green roofs can improve the acoustics, thermal properties and aesthetic qualities of a building, whilst also providing additional space for recreational use. In addition, they provide extra protection for the waterproofing membrane from the extremes of climatic conditions. Features and benefits: Enhances the environment Water retention - delays passage of water and minimised flood risk Improves acoustic performance Choice of system designs - extensive, intensive and biodiverse roofs For more information please refer to the IKOgreen brochure Innovative Green Roof Systems. IKO Solar is a unique solution for harnessing green energy, whilst ensuring the internal temperature of the building remains comfortable. IKO Solar s photovoltaic systems are roofintegrated solutions which incorporate the very latest solar PV technologies. IKO Solar energy roofs offer the building owner the opportunity to generate clean, renewable electricity that can be either used by the building itself, or sold back into the national grid for a return on investment. Features and benefits: Works from the sun s natural power Saves energy Generates usable energy Maintains internal building temperatures Choice of system designs. Polimar GP Primer is recommended on rough substrates when using the Polimar EC/UV system. Polimar GP Primer is not compatible with Polimar Seal or Polimar WG systems. Embedment - The coverage rates quoted are typical values for the type of surface indicated more material will be required where the surface condition of the substrate is variable - FULL EMBEDMENT OF THE GLASS REINFORCEMENT MUST BE ACHIEVED IN ALL CASES.
