1 JAZAN UNIVERSITY College of Engineering CIVIL ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT Equipments and Devices of the Concrete Laboratory The Equipment The Purpose To determination of compressive strength of samples Bricks, cement & gypsum pastes, and concrete specimens (cube, cylinder etc.). It consists of applying a compressive axial load to molded cubes at a rate that is within a prescribed range until failure occurs Concrete Compression Machine (3000 KN) Machine of Steel Tensile Test: (100 KN) The primary use of the testing machine is to create the stress-strain diagram. Tensile test determines the strength of the material subjected to a simple stretching operation. The objective of this lab experiments is to incrementally the load a steel bar until failure. Then based on the collected the data, determine: -Modulus of Elasticity of Steel E steel & Compare it to the theoretical value. -Yield strength of Steel σ yield -Ultimate strength of steel σ Ultimate -Plot Stress Vs. Strain Curve for steel

4 This test method covers the determination of unit weight in a compacted or loose condition and calculation of voids in Concrete or fine and coarse aggregates. Unit Weight Measures Laboratory oven is convection appliances for general purposes. Applications include sterilization, experiment management, drying, processing, and testing of concrete, soil, bricks and aggregate samples and maintains temperature over the range of 40 to 250deg C in accordance with most BS and ASTM requirements. 12 Schmidt hammers, or concrete test hammers, is used to determine in-place strength of concrete. All of the concrete rebound hammers we carry below accurately measure compressive strength of concrete, which directly determines the load-bearing capacity and durability of concrete structures. ASchmidt hammer a device ultrasonic pulse velocity An ultrasonic pulse velocity test is an in-situ, nondestructive test to check the quality of concretee and natural rocks. In this test, the strength and quality of concrete or rock is assessed by measuring the velocity of an ultrasonic pulse passing through a concrete structure or natural rock formation. This test is conducted by passing a pulse of ultrasonic wave through concrete to be tested and measuring the time taken by pulse to get through the structure. Higher velocities indicate good quality and continuity of the material, while slower velocities may indicate concrete with many cracks or voids.

13 is a sophisticated device for the non- destructive location of rebars and for the measurement of concrete cover and bar diameters, using the eddy current principle with pulse induction as the measuring method, as well as detecting the rebar diameter accurately to the millimeter by only one measuring procedure.
