2 INTRODUCTION The use of PUMA (Polyurethane Methyl Methacrylate) resin based Bridge Deck Waterproofing Systems arose due to the limitations that conventional MMA and other resin based systems offered. Specifically these were related to insufficient crack bridging capabilities and most notably in colder weather climates, such as Canada, Northern USA, Scandinavia, Russia and other regions with extreme weather conditions. The rapid setting characteristics of MMA, however, made it both suitable and practical to employ, since the setting and curing installation properties were not adversely affected by ambient temperatures. In effect PUMA Systems may be applied at temperatures as low as 20 C but will still set and typically be ready for use within 60 minutes, for example. 3 WORLDWIDE PRESENCE PERFORMANCE BENEFITS Matacryl PUMA Resins exceed performance of MMA and conventional resin based systems for the following reasons: Sufficiently resilient even after minutes of being applied to allow hot rolled asphalt equipment to traffic Matacryl Membrane without protection board. Extreme impact resistance when tested according to AREMA (American Rail Ballast Indentation Certification) and SNCF standards. Full BBA and ASTM Certification. Will adhere well to dry and clean surfaces including steel and pipe outlets etc. Bond of membrane in excess of concrete tensile or cohesive strengths. Flexibility sufficient to bridge cracks in excess of 3.5 mm in well below freezing conditions. Will resist rain and snow within minutes of installation. Very easily repaired if willfully or accidentally damaged. Rapid setting and curing enables limited possession and rapid handover irrespective of ambient conditions. SYNOPSIS The development of Matacryl PUMA Bridge Deck Waterproofing Membranes, which are effectively a combination of Polyurethane and MMA, was a significant milestone since PUMA Waterproofing Systems are capable of overcoming all the limitations imposed by conventional MMA or Polyurethane and Polyurea systems. In addition to being applied at very low temperatures and setting within 60 minutes, the cured membrane will also offer a flexibility that allows cracks in excess of 3.5 mm to be bridged even at temperatures as low as -20 C. This means that PUMA Systems may be applied all year round and that once installation commences, the possession or downtime, is overcome since there is very little waiting time between successive coats and eventual handover for use etc.

4 MATACRYL WPM INSTALLATION BENEFITS FOR MATACRYL SYSTEMS Resistance Reduced application time Manual & Spray appliable membrane Different primer possibilities Solventless Chemical inert Cold applied and does not require heating or conditioning. Available in both hand and spray applied grades. VOC compliant and contains no solvent. Rain Resistance Rain resistant within 30 minutes of application. Setting and curing times may be adjusted to suit ambient and site conditions. Reduced application times between coats and layers. Rapid installation and handover to client / user. Variety of primers to suit each exposure. Chemically inert and not requiring Hazmat precautions when disposing of. Low equipment needs Insignificant amount of equipment and plant required. EXTENSIVE TESTING Matacryl has been tested by numerous Independent Test Institutes. ASTM / BBA / HAPAS / EN1504 / SNCF / AFTES / CETE / EXOVA /... * Test reports are available on demand. *According to the type of beverage, it is recommended that you contact our technical service for confirmation.

7 MATACRYL READY REP SUPERIOR PERFORMANCE FOR MATACRYL SYSTEMS Very few limitations for installation at varying temperatures. Resilient and even resists indentation by ballast. Rapid setting and curing minimises costly possession and facilitates almost immediate use. Crack bridging even at below sub zero temperatures. Non absorbent and impermeable. Tenacious bond to concrete and steel surfaces. Chemical (fusion) bonding between subsequent coatings minimises chances of any debonding. Seamless protection. Lower densities on flexural members. Quicker installation than conventional asphalt/hra applications. Easily repaired where applicable. Superior wear resistance compared to conventional wearing courses.
