Software Enhancements 18

Software Enhancements Improved Test Data Display Laminate Analysis Form More Failure Theories Graphics: Improved Picking Operations Improved Graphics Functions Auto create ply drops Auto create joints Auto compute buckling spans Improved Color Palettes Graphical Stress Tools Import Bearing Load from CBUSH Elements Database Preferences Recent Database List Failure Tab Options to Set as database default 19

Improved Test Data Display Test data points display as single points stacked on one another. Green points are conservative - failure load exceeds predicted load Red points are non-conservative - failure load is less than predicted load Test data can be viewed with and without user-defined correlation factors. Help Reference: Software Forms > Test Data 20

Laminate Analysis Form Failure Theories Additional failure theories in Laminate Analysis form Tsai-Wu, Stress Tsai-Wu, Strain Tsai-Wu, Strain Eff Shear Help Reference: Software Forms > Materials > Laminate Analysis Form Failure Analysis > Material Strength > Composite, Ply-Based 21

Graphics: Improved Picking Operations a Options directly on pick form Component Number Component Name Add to Active Assembly Add to Active Group Make Active Create Another b Ability to create assemblies from components in legend bins. b a 22

Improved Graphics Functions Auto Create Ply Drops for Assembly Defines Component Boundaries at which ply drops/adds are evaluated a Auto Create Joints for Assembly Defines FEM Joints a Auto Calculate Buckling Spans Will recalculate buckling spans based on component geometry. Updated in Sizing form. 23

Improved Color Palettes Improved Color Palettes New Color Palettes Provided in Database Template. Convenient palettes created for plotting: Margins of safety Ply stresses and strains Unit forces Skin thickness, etc. Remembering Color Palette for Plotting Data The HyperSizer graphics store the previous selected color bin for similar groups of plotting options. Eliminating the need to change the color palette when switching from color by component to color by data. 24

Graphical Stress Tools New Shortcut Options Plot Free Body Edge Loads Shortcut that toggles on all necessary options to plot free body edge loads for edges of active assembly Plot Cross Sectional Stiffness Properties Shortcut that toggles on all necessary options to plot cross sectional stiffness properties 25

Import Bearing Load from CBUSH Elements a b 3 Methods for defining bearing force 1. Shear flow 2. Manually Define 3. *Allow HyperSizer to read CBUSH forces (New Capability) (*Automatic bypass load calculation using element loads and bearing force) CBUSH Elements *New Bolt Plotting Capability a b 26
