Performance grade number is the actual design pressure in pounds force per square foot used to determine structural test pressure and water test pressure and is included as part of the ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS product designation code 1.4 SYSTEM DESCRIPTION A. Standards: Requirements for aluminum windows, terminology, standard of performance, and fabrication workmanship are those specified and recommended in ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02 and The Aluminum Association (AA). a. All window units shall be labeled as conforming to ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02. The label shall state the name of the manufactuer, the approved labeling agency and the product designation as specified in ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02. b. All testing shall be conducted using ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02 Gateway Performance minimum specified test sizes. 2. Provide windows with a performance rating that complies with ANSI/AAMA/WDMA 101/I.S.2/NAFS-02 for the specific project location. PHYSICAL PROPERTY PERFORMANCE CLASS AND GRADE: C-45 TEST METHOD SPECIFICATION VALUE Uniform Structural Properties Water Resistance ASTM E330 ASTM E331 and ASTM E547 Pressure acting inward and outward. Safety Glazing Products: Comply with testing requirements in CPSC 16 CFR Part a. Subject to compliance with requirements, obtain safety glazing products permanently marked with certification label of the Safety Glazing Certification Council or another certification agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction. 2. Insulating glass shall comply with standard for construction and insulating value as established by: a. Insulating Glass Manufacturers Alliance (IGMA). b. Insulating Glass Certification Council (IGCC) 1.5 SUBMITTALS A. General: Submit the following in accordance with Conditions of Contract and Division 01 Specification Sections: 1. Submit manufacturer approved Shop Drawings and product data that include wall opening and component dimensions; wall opening tolerances required; anchorage and fasteners; affected related work; and installation requirements and instructions. 2. Provide test reports and certification that windows meet code requirements where applicable. 3. Provide samples of materials, i.e., metal, glass, fasteners, anchors, frame sections, mullion section, etc. 1.6 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. All window units shall be manufactured by a single source. 1. All windows in any one project must be by the same manufacturer and with comparable frame depth, profile, glazing bite and installation requirements. Manufacturer must provide a window system that can incorporate all window configurations used on the project. B. Sections , , and to be furnished by single source insuring product compatibility and coordination. C. Installer Qualifications: An experienced installer who has completed window installations similar in material, design, and extent to that indicated for this Project; whose work has resulted in window unit installations with a record of successful in-service performance (08520)-Page 4 of 9

Certify that windows have been tested in accordance with the Window and Door Manufacturers Association (WDMA) (ANSI/AAMA/WDMA) Specification for Performance Class specified complying with the specified ratings. 1.7 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Transportation and Handling: Transport products by methods to avoid product damage; deliver in undamaged condition in manufacturer's unopened containers or packaging. Provide equipment and personnel to handle products by method to prevent soiling or damage. Promptly inspect shipments to assure that products comply with requirements, quantities are correct, and products are undamaged. B. Storage and Protection: Store products in accordance with AAMA CW-10 and manufacturer's instructions, with seals and labels intact and legible. Store sensitive products in weather-tight enclosures; maintain with temperature and humidity ranges required by manufacturer's instruction. 1.8 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Verify window openings by field measurements before fabrication. 1.9 WARRANTY A. General: Warranties shall be in addition to, and not a limitation of, other rights the Owner may have under the Contract Documents. B. All material shall be free from manufacturer defects and installation workmanship. Any material or workmanship judged to be defective shall be replaced at no cost to the Owner. C. Insulating glass units shall be warrantied against obstruction of vision between interior glass surfaces caused by failure of the hermetic seal. Units damaged during guarantee period shall be replaced at no cost to the Owner. 1. Warranty Period: 10 years from date of Substantial Completion D. Finish Warranty: 1. Finish Warranty Period: 15 Years from date of Substantial Completion. PART 2 PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURERS A. Accepted Manufacturers: 1. Traco Commercial Group ( ) a. 6 2.2 MATERIALS A. Aluminum Extrusions: Alloy and temper recommended by aluminum window manufacturer for strength, corrosion resistance, and application of required finish, but not less than 22,000- psi ultimate tensile strength, not less than 16,000-psi minimum yield strength, and not less than inch thickness at any location for the main frame and sash members. 1. Color: White. B. All fasteners, tools, equipment, and other materials necessary for a complete installation shall be furnished by this Contractor. 1. Aluminum, nonmagnetic stainless steel, epoxy adhesive, or other materials warranted by manufacturer to be noncorrosive and compatible with all window members, cladding, trim, hardware, anchors, and other components C. Insect Screens: Provide removable insect screen panel for each moveable glazed sash. 1. Screen Fabric: 18 by 16 mesh of 0.013" diameter aluminum wire. Comply with FS-RR- W-365A, Type VII, except black anodized or "gun metal" coating on wire. 2. Screen Frame: Provide formed or extruded aluminum frames and removable vinyl fabric-retainer spline. Comply with SMA a. Finish shall match window. D. Accessories: 1. Safety Device Stops: For operable windows, provide stops to prevent opening greater than 4. Stops shall be constructed of stock window frame material and attached with tamper-resistant screws. a. If local code requires window units to open fully, provide Charlie-Bar security devise by Charles Bar-Lok Corp. ( ). Size to fit window opening. b. Color: To match window units. 2. Trim: Manufacturer's standard interior snap trims, type as shown on Drawings. a. Color: to match window unit. E. Hardware: 1. Sash lock: Manufacturers' standard. a. Color: to match window unit. 2. Wheels and Sliding Mechanism: Manufacturer's standard. F. Maximum operating force once sash in motion: 1. Horizontal Sliding Windows: 20 LBF G. Operating sash in guest rooms to be located closest to center of room. 2.3 GLASS MATERIALS A. Accepted Manufacturers: 1. Clear Glass and Tempered Glass: a. Provide glazing to meet requirements specified in below:. GLASS DESCRIPTION MATERIAL COLOR Glass [I]: ASTM C1036, Type 1 (transparent glass, flat), Class 1 Clear Clear Float (clear), Quality q3 (glazing select). Glass: Glass [II]: Tempered Glass Glass [III]: Coated Low Emissitivity Glass 1/4", Condition A (uncoated surfaces), Type 1 (transparent glass, flat), Class 1 (clear), Quality q3, clear, fully tempered safety glass (meet requirements of ANSI Z97.1). All tempered glass shall conform to ASTM C1048, ANSI Z97.1, and CPSC 16 CFR Part Tempered glass shall bear permanent monogram indicating tempered quality. Fabrication marks on tempered glass shall be located to be concealed in completed installation. Coated Low Emissitivity Glass: 1/4", Condition C (other coated glass), Type I (transparent glass, flat), Class I (clear), Quality q3 (glazing select). Low E Coating: Side 3 on insulated units. C. Windows shall be glazed as follows: Clear Color as Selected by Architect, 1. Insulating Glass: Manufacturer's standard low "E" units consisting of manufacturer's special design to conform to required STC and thermal ratings, as approved by the Architect. a. Provide preassembled units consisting of organically sealed panes of glass enclosing a hermetically sealed dehydrated air space and complying with ASTM E774 for performance classification indicated as well as with other requirements specified for glass characteristics, air, space, sealing system, sealant, space material, and desiccants. 1) Total Thickness: 5/8" 2) Thickness of Each Pane: 1/8" 3) Air Space Thickness: 3/8" (08520)-Page 7 of 9

8 4) Sealing System: Manufacturer's Standard Dual Seal 5) Desiccant: Manufacturer's Standard - Either Molecular Sieve or Silica Gel or Blend of Both 6) Spacer Material: Manufacturer's Standard Metal with Bronze Anodized Finish. b. Exterior Pane of Glass: Glass Type [I] [or] [II] 1) Provide Tempered Glass where shown on Drawings and as required by local Codes and Ordinances. 2.4 FINISHES A. All exposed aluminum surfaces shall have a manufactured-applied, 15 -year warrantied, Kynar 500 fluorocarbon finish containing 70% fluoropolymer, free from blemishes and surface defects which meets AAMA 2605 specifications. 1. Color to be As Selected by Architect from Standard Colors. 2. Color to match Aluminum-Framed Entrances and Storefront systems, as approved by Architect. B. Acrynar FX by PPG; 10-year warranty; containing a minimum 50% flouropolymer, free from blemishes and surface defects meeting AAMA 2604 specifications. 1. Color to be As Selected by Architect from Standard. a. Color to match Aluminum-Framed Entrances and Storefront systems, as approved by Architect. 2.5 FABRICATION A. Fabricate windows allowing for minimum clearances and shim spacing around perimeter of assembly, yet enabling installation. B. Rigidly fit joints and corners. Accurately fit and secure corners tight. Make corner joints flush, hairline, and weatherproof. Seal corner joints with sealant. C. Develop drainage holes with moisture pattern to exterior. D. Prepare components to receive anchor devices. Fabricate anchorage items. PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION - GENERAL A. Installation Details: Before proceeding with the manufacturing of the windows and doors, the Window Contractor shall submit complete installation details for approval by the Architect. These Drawings shall show elevations of windows, full-sized details of all sections of windows, collateral materials and details of anchorage. Supplemental data shall contain calculations of moments of inertia on frames and mullion connections plus instructions for storage, handling, and erection of windows and sliding doors. Conform to AAMA 2400 for Nail Fin Installation. B. Verify wall openings and adjoining air and vapor seal materials are ready to receive work of this Section. C. Beginning of installation means acceptance of existing conditions (08520)-Page 8 of 9

9 D. Align window frame plumb and level, free of wrap or twist. Maintain dimensional tolerances, aligning with adjacent work. E. Coordinate attachment and seal of air and vapor barrier materials. Install under sill flashings, if required. F. Pack fibrous insulation in shim spaces at perimeter to maintain continuity of thermal barrier. G. Install perimeter sealant, backing materials, and installation requirements in accordance with Section Apply sealant to ends of sill for watertight seal. H. Windows shall be installed by experienced workmen in exact accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and approved Shop Drawings. I. Erection Tolerances: 1. Maximum deviation from established vertical or horizontal reference lines: a. 1/8 inch per 12 feet of length of any member. b. 1/4 inch in any continuous run. 2. Maximum offset from true alignment between two adjoining members in line, end to end, 1/16 inch. J. Adequately anchor frames to surrounding construction. Place anchors at 2'-0" on center maximum or as required to maintain position of frames when subjected to thermal and building movement and specified wind load. 1. Anchorage method to be integral nailing fin. Alternate anchoring methods will not be acceptable. 3.2 ADJUSTING AND CLEANING A. After completion of window installation, windows shall be inspected, adjusted, put into working order and left clean, free of labels, dirt, etc. Protection from this point shall be responsibility of General Contractor. B. Remove protective material from prefinished aluminum surfaces. C. Wash down exposed surfaces using a solution of mild detergent in warm water, applied with soft, clean wiping cloths. Take care to remove dirt from corners. Wipe surfaces clean. D. Remove excess sealant by moderate use of mineral spirits or other solvent acceptable to sealant manufacturer.
