1 THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER DIVISION Unique TPVs providing the look and feel of rubber with the processing ease of TPOs. Ideal for pre-colored, soft-touch and engineered custom applications. Shaping a New World of Opportunities

2 At A Glance Versatile TPE for custom applications. What Is Uniprene? Uniprene is a specially designed thermoplastic vulcanizate (TPV). It performs like cured EPDM with the feel of thermoset rubber but processes with the ease and speed of a thermoplastic olefin (TPO). Uniprene TPVs have mechanical and recovery properties comparable to most vulcanized elastomers and are superior in performance to most thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs). What Are The Material Characteristics Of Uniprene? High elastic recovery. Non-hygroscopic characteristics, eliminating the need for predrying under normal conditions. Light natural color. Excellent whitening index permitting easy precoloring or recoloring and reduction of color loading requirements. Wide service temperature range. Excellent compression set at room and elevated temperatures. Recyclability. Easy processability on standard thermoplastic equipment. What Grades Of Uniprene Are Available? Standard Uniprene TPVs are available in a hardness range of 35 Shore A to 50 Shore D. However, both harder and softer grades can be formulated to meet your specific application. All Uniprene grades are available in natural (colorable) and black. Uniprene can also be provided in custom colors, matched to meet most needs Series: General Purpose Grade Available Durometers: 35A, 45A, 55A, 64A, 73A, 80A, 87A, 40D, 50D Series: Medical/Food Contact (FDA, NSF, ISO 10993) Available Durometers: 45A, 55A, 64A, 73A, 80A, 87A, 40D, 50D. The Uniprene 7010 Series has received certification in accordance with NSF 61 standard and is in compliance with FDA regulations. Individual ingredients in this series conform to various sections listed under 21CFR (Title 21 US Code of Federal Regulations) making them suitable for specific use in food-contact, medical and other regulated applications. Please consult the 21CFR for suitability to a specific regulated application Series: Bondable Grade Available Durometers: 64A, 80A, 40D. Designed for specific applications requiring bondability to various substrates including thermoset EPDM and polyolefins.

4 THERMOPLASTIC VULCANIZATES Ideal for pre-colored, soft-touch and engineered custom applications. Teknor Apex, a world leader in thermoplastic elastomer technology, offers you the Uniprene family specialized products that are superior to conventional TPVs in terms of function, aesthetics, and processability. In addition to general purpose, regulated-use and specialty bonding grades, customized Uniprene compounds can be developed to meet a variety of application requirements. We are eager to develop a grade suitable for your custom application. The performance benefits of Uniprene Uniprene TPVs are composed of a fully cross-linked elastomeric phase finely dispersed in a thermoplastic matrix. The result is functional performance similar to the high elastic recovery of vulcanized rubber but with the processability of plastic. Because Uniprene compounds are cross-linked elastomers, soft grades provide a linear stress-strain relationship, thereby providing rubber-like performance characteristics. Low compression sets create the opportunity for replacing thermoset rubber in applications such as weatherstripping, gaskets and seals. Uniprene provides better retention of shape upon ejection than conventional TPEs, especially on larger injection molded parts. Because of lower specific gravity, part weight reductions can be achieved versus thermoset rubbers. A wide service temperature range of -60 degrees C to +135 degrees C makes Uniprene suitable for performance under many static and dynamic conditions as well as applications requiring tight sealing. The aesthetic benefits of Uniprene The light natural hue of Uniprene results in bright, vibrant colors. Because Uniprene exhibits less inherent yellowness than most commercial TPVs, lower loading of pigments or color concentrates are required for coloring. The combination of aesthetics and functionality can provide improvements in product appearance, ergonomics, noise and vibration dampening. This is especially true in soft-touch applications requiring two-shot injection, overmolding or coextrusion. The processing benefits of Uniprene Uniprene compounds can be processed on standard thermoplastic equipment and provide sizable gains in productivity compared to thermoset

5 rubber compounds. Due to its non-hygroscopic nature, Uniprene can normally be processed without the predrying necessary for conventional thermoplastic vulcanizates. Because of its excellent melt strength, Uniprene also provides good part shape retention in unsupported blow molding and thermoforming applications. Uniprene is recyclable and can be reprocessed several times without significant property losses. All grades of Uniprene thermoplastic vulcanizates are suitable for both molding and extrusion processes. Processing guidelines are available from Teknor Apex.
