1 Independence High School Building B1 Modernization Modernization repurposes the building for the Visual Arts academic program. The building will be converted to six visual arts classrooms with a curriculum including general art education, ceramics, print photography and digital media. The new layout will feature a common area, faculty restrooms and associated spaces and the new design will provide ample natural lighting through storefront windows and skylights. In addition to repairs to areas damaged by a fire, the project includes installation of new roofing and modernization of the mechanical, electrical, communications, fire alarm, and security systems. Delivery Method: Lease Leaseback Site & Infrastructure Improvements Streetscape enhancements along Jackson Avenue, including a new marquee, banners, and way finding signage. Infrastructure improvements include exterior lighting upgrades, asphalt improvements, storm drain upgrades, and exterior painting. Hardscape and landscape around Administration Building N and Performing Arts Center Building F will be upgraded. Delivery Method: Lease Leaseback, Design-Bid-Build (CUPCCAA Procurement) Independence / Independence Adult Center (IAC) Alternative Education Facility Upgrade Building 100 Modernization (IAC) Modernization of IAC Building 100 to house Administration. New Building 1000 Demolition of existing portable buildings P1, P2, P3, restrooms, storage containers, and other miscellaneous items at the northwest corner of the IAC site, construction of new building(s) to house the school s indoor space needs, associated exterior quad, and vehicular access. Building J Modernization (Pegasus) Modernization of Building J to house Pegasus High School. Buildings G, H, K and L Modernization Minor and major modernization work in Buildings G, H, K, L to accommodate alternative education programs. Portable Village Project includes a Portable Village in a parking lot at the west end of the Independence campus for temporary classrooms and support space. Phase 1, completed August 2015, included the installation of 17 portable classrooms. Phase 2 will include installation of 5 additional portable classrooms.

2 Independence High School Security Camera Upgrades (Districtwide Project) The project will take the existing multiple security camera systems currently used throughout the District and replace them with a single integrated Districtwide, internet protocol (IP) based security camera system. Existing analog cameras on every campus, including the District Office, will be removed and replaced with high definition cameras, along with the infrastructure needed to support them. These high definition cameras are capable of capturing quality daytime and nighttime footage. New cameras will be placed in locations that were previously difficult to monitor. Camera footage will be streamed real-time to a Command Center Console and monitor wall at the District Office. Every ESUHSD site will be affected by this project. Installation is anticipated to occur at multiple sites simultaneously. Energy Efficiency Project (Districtwide Project) Energy services contract to implement energy conservation measures whose cost will be outweighed by net savings. This project is being funded by Proposition 39 Clean Energy Jobs Act; funds are being dispersed in fiscal years through Utility incentives will be an additional minor funding source for this project. Energy conservation measures include: Exterior lighting retrofits at 8 sites: Andrew P. Hill, Evergreen Valley, Foothill, Independence, Mt. Pleasant, Oak Grove, WC Overfelt, and Yerba Buena Interior lighting retrofits at 3 sites: Andrew P. Hill, Evergreen Valley, and Foothill Solar Photovoltaic facilities at 2 sites: Calero High School and Overfelt Adult Center Delivery Method: Energy Service Contract Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades This project replaces aged mechanical, electrical and controls equipment that have reached the end of their service lives with modern equipment that meets Title 24 energy efficiency code requirements. Replacements will improve environment comfort levels in the classrooms, enhancing the educational experience for students and working environment for teachers and staff. The project will be implemented in distinct construction packages providing maximum value to the District. Package A is replacement of an existing 40 year old Multi-zone HVAC unit serving rooms 106 and 107 in Building 100 at Santa Teresa. This unit requires urgent replacement and is being handled separately in order to expedite the replacement. Package B is replacement of Energy Management System (EMS) digital controls and cabling, fire smoke dampers campus wide, and HVAC units in Building G small and large gymnasiums at Evergreen Valley. The school s EMS monitors and manages the energy consumption of the building systems to create usage efficiencies. The gymnasiums in Building G are not receiving adequate heat. Package C will cover mechanical and electrical equipment replacements at numerous sites, sites with the most aged equipment will have priority replacement status. This package will be completed in three phases, with replacements at each site completed by priority. Phase 1 includes first priority replacements at Andrew P. Hill, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, and W.C. Overfelt. Phase 2 includes second priority replacements at Andrew P. Hill, Independence, James Lick, Oak Grove, Piedmont Hills, Santa Teresa, and Yerba Buena. Package D is the replacement of the main electrical switchgear and 13 load centers/substations at Independence. Switchgear and load centers are large scale circuit breaker systems for regulating, metering and controlling the high voltage power supplying the entire Independence campus. Package E is the installation of a supplemental condensing unit in the Main Kitchen at W.C. Overfelt. The installation of this unit is urgent. The supplemental condensing unit will supply cooling to the Main Kitchen thus lessoning the burden on the Multi Zone Unit, which concurrently provides conditioning to other unrelated spaces adjoining the Main Kitchen.

3 Independence High School Roof Replacements (Districtwide Project) This project replaces the roofs that have reached the end of their service lives at Andrew P. Hill, Education Center, Evergreen Valley, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, Piedmont Hills, Santa Teresa, W.C. Overfelt and Yerba Buena high schools. Door Replacements (Districtwide Project) Replacement of exterior doors that have reached the end of their service lives, at Andrew P. Hill, Independence, James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, and W.C. Overfelt high schools. Wi-Fi 2 (Districtwide Project) Expansion of wireless internet access at campuses, including athletic fields and areas that have been limited instructional areas in the past due to the lack of internet access. Infrastructure installed in this project will provide a platform for future projects. Backend Computer System Upgrade (Districtwide Project) Delivery of a modernized private cloud solution for the District s servers. Servers will be virtualized to provide a lower cost, more energy efficient, more reliable and flexible solution. Fire Alarm Modernization (Districtwide Project) A comprehensive study and assessment of fire alarm systems at all school sites was done in The scope of this project includes an existing system to a complete modernization of a fire alarm system. Every ESUHSD site including the Education Center is expected to receive some form of improvements or corrections through this project. Delivery Method: Design-Build

9 Independence High School Building B1 Modernization Setting & Connection of HVAC Units on roof and installation of ductwork and drywall was completed. Preparation for paint finishes began in April. Ceramic tile installation in restrooms is underway. Installation of backing for pipe grid light system is underway. Ceiling insulation and wrap is underway. Installation of storefront windows, overhead doors, and skylights was completed in April. Construction is underway on the outdoor study area. Site & Infrastructure Improvements Contract award for Contractor to perform asphalt paving, seal coating and paint stripping for the main parking lot and basketball courts was approved by the Board of Trustees at their April 21, 2016 meeting. Work is anticipated to commence in June. Independence / Independence Adult Education Center (IAC) Alternative Education Facility Upgrade Construction Document phase is underway for Buildings G and H modernization projects is underway. Contract award for Contractor for the modernization of Building L was approved by the Board of Trustees at the April 21, 2016 meeting. Notice to Proceed is expected in May. Design team is preparing plans and specifications for the installation of two pre-engineered restroom buildings, one near Building L and one near Building G and H. A Soils Report was submitted to California Geologic Society (CGS). Design is underway for Building J. The building will house Pegasus High School. School stakeholders from Pegasus met with the Design Team in April to provide input. Contract award for Contractor for Phase 2 of the Portable Village project was approved by the Board of Trustees at the April 21, 2016 meeting. Phase 1 of the Portable Village project is being closed out with DSA. On November 5, 2016, the Board of Trustees approved the cancellation of the construction of Building 1000 and modernization of Building 100 projects. Swimming Pool Modernization This project reconstructs the swimming pool complexes and infrastructure including pool pumps, motors, water heaters, filtration and disinfection systems. The new pools will be highly energy efficient and will be designed to enhance the high school aquatic programs to include physical education, recreation swimming, competitive swimming, water polo and diving at James Lick, Mt. Pleasant, W.C. Overfelt, Piedmont Hills, Silver Creek, Santa Teresa and Yerba Buena High Schools. 18 Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades Conduit installation is in progress at Evergreen Valley and Yerba Buena. Network connection was made with the Evergreen Valley system. Pre-survey work at Independence is underway. During April, final adjustments were made to the angling and pointing of the newly installed cameras at the Education Center. Old cameras at the Education Center will be removed. Phase 3 installation of cameras at Mt. Pleasant, Piedmont Hills, W.C. Overfelt, Overfelt Adult Center, James Lick is scheduled to begin in June. Facilities staff is working with Contractor, Design Team, CM team to investigate resolutions to the issue of no permanent power to the solar arrays in the parking lots at multiple sites. Cost estimates for bringing permanent power have been received. At each site, the video management system will be configured and servers will be installed before the existing cameras are removed and the new cameras are installed. This will minimize gaps in coverage because cameras will be connected to the system as soon as they are installed. Swimming Pool Modernization The project is being implemented in two phases. Phase 1 pools are ST, MP and YB. Phase 2 pools are JL, PH, SC, and WCO. Grading and compaction was completed at Santa Teresa and Mt. Pleasant. Plumbing and base rock installation at these sites started in April. Grading continued at Yerba Buena, James Lick, Piedmont Hills, and Silver Creek. Demolition and off-haul work was performed at W.C. Overfelt during the last week of April. All pools are now under construction and are at various stages of progress. Piedmont Hills ADA work in the boys and girls locker rooms has been scheduled for November 21st through December 30th. A meeting was held with Principal and coaching staff, and agreement was reached to shut down the use of the boys and girls locker rooms during these last 6 weeks of the year to allow for construction of the ADA improvements in the boys and girls locker rooms. Energy Efficiency Project Field verification and final design and engineering, final scoping and submittal review for Exterior and Interior lighting are complete. Procurement of exterior lighting fixtures and interior lighting fixtures is in progress. Scoping for Interior light fixtures and gym controls scoping are expected to be finalized by May. Lighting Preconstruction meeting is scheduled to be held in early May, in anticipation of start of retrofit work in late May. Exterior lighting work will take place before interior lighting work. Further meetings are to be held with school administrations regarding proposed lighting scope of work and schedules. Solar PV electrical equipment, canopy structures and PV panels were installed at Calero and Overfelt Adult Center. Electrical cutover to Solar will be performed by Mid May Shutdown preconstruction meeting watt was held on April 26.

19 Districtwide Mechanical, Electrical and Controls Equipment Upgrades Package A: The installation of new HVAC unit at Santa Teresa is complete. Package B: Package C: Package D: Construction drawings for the Energy Management System upgrade at Evergreen Valley were received April 7th. Equipment is ordered and expected to arrive in May. Construction will begin mid- May. Engineering Analysis Report for fire smoke dampers at Evergreen Valley is expected in May. Design of replacement Actuators is expected to begin late May. This project will require DSA review and approval. Bid Package is expected to be developed early in July to remove and replace 16ea hydronic pipe valves that feed the HVAC Units. Construction drawings for Mechanical HVAC replacement Phase 1 Increment 1 were completed. Increment 1 Construction Bid Package was been prepared and is scheduled for release in May. This bid package is exempt from DSA approval requirement. This package will replace one HVAC Unit at Independence and four AHU s at Piedmont Hills. Equipment has been procured by the District and is due to arrive early on July 10th. Work will begin early July and is scheduled to be completed by late August Schematic Design drawings for Mechanical HVAC replacement Phase 1 Increment 2 will be completed in May. This Phase 1 Increment 2 will have work on 6 campuses; Andrew Hill, Foothill, Independence, James Lick, Piedmont Hills, and Silver Creek. Replacement of a proposed 68 Units will be executed in the summer of Construction drawings for the Electrical Switchgear upgrades at Independence were received April 20th. Construction Bid Package was issued in May, anticipating adequate bid coverage. This scope of work will test the underground feeder cable and perform preventative maintenance to switchgear so the electrical system can function until summer 2017 when all switchgear are replaced. Package E: Engineering Analysis of the Main Kitchen HVAC Unit is expected to be completed late May. Bid Package will be developed in early August. Roof Replacements RFP for engineering design services was issued in April. Contract award is expected to be recommended to the Board of Trustees in June. RFP for construction management services was issued in April.

20 Districtwide Door Replacements Construction bid documents are in development. Wi-Fi 2 This project has three phases: A, B, C. Phase A replaced all existing network access points and two new core controllers for the new network. Phase B added access points to all classrooms that previously did not have an access point, which was approximately 50% of all classrooms. Phase C will provide wireless access in the areas outside the classrooms to blanket the entire campus in wireless access including, but not limited to, sports fields and parking lots. Phases A and B are complete. Access points for Phase C installed and are awaiting activation with completion Districtwide Security Camera Upgrades. Backend Computer System Upgrades Private cloud storage, supporting software and power systems, for new virtualized servers have been installed and set up. The project will provide the computing and storage capacity to meet the District s current and anticipated needs for servers (compute power) and local document management and storage for the next 5 years. Replacement of core server and storage with new units is complete. The adoption process for document management system is complete, the implementation process is underway and is expected to be completed in August. Fire Alarm Modernization The District has entered into a Design-Build contract to perform design and construction of the District Wide Fire Alarm Modernization Project. The contract award was approved by the Board of Trustees at the April 21, 2016 board meeting. In general, this project involves replacement, in whole or in part, of the fire alarm systems. Every ESUHSD site is planned to receive improvements through this project. These improvements will help to meet demands of the modernization program, code requirements, as well as to mitigate increasing annual repair and maintenance costs of the existing systems. The design-construction duration of this project is approximately 18 months, from May 2016 through October During the next few weeks engineers, sub-consultants and subcontractors will be visiting, observing and recording existing buildings and FA systems as part of their preconstruction phase program/design work. The emergency IH FACP retrofit work is nearly complete. The retrofit scope of work in Building B remains to be completed (Building B is being modernized under separate contract). Closeout and training on the IH retrofit project remains to be completed.
