2 Part 1 General This specification is for the installation of an integrated system of step edge marking products to ensure acceptable visibility in all weather conditions and in all situations whether light, dark, or dimly lit, including during failure of the main lighting. Ecoglo products use advanced photoluminescent and non-slip technology to make the step edge and help prevent slips, trips and falls on steps for the safe and efficient movement of people, 24 hours a day System Description Provide a system of photoluminescent & non-slip step edge marking to ensure visibility of the steps in all weather conditions. The system will also be effective in all situations whether light, dark, or dimly lit; including during failure of the main lighting Submittals Product Data Sheets 1.03 Ordering Comply with Manufacturer s ordering instructions and lead-time requirements for fabrication and supply to avoid project delays Storage and Handling a) Storage - protect from damage during storage and handling. b) Hazardous reactions - none known c) Radioactivity - no radioactivity d) Handling - take normal precautions as for working with aluminium products. e) Cutting and Drilling - be wary of sharp edges and swath. Product offcuts can be sent for aluminium recycling Warranty a) Manufacturer s Warranty - submit Warranty document. b) Performance Warranty Period - 3 Years commencing on Date of Substantial Completion. c) This warranty assumes correct installation and normal conditions of use and maintenance.

Proprietary Products 1. Ecoglo Step Edge for marking steps, consisting of 6060T5 aluminium extrusion, powder coated, with Silicon Carbide non-slip materials and photoluminescent pigment embedded in thermoset polyester carriers which integrally bond the active ingredients into the powdercoated aluminium following curing at C. The photoluminescent area is recessed into protective channels. For surface mounting on flat clean concrete. The insert being an extruded 6060T5 aluminium section, powder coated, with Silicon Carbide non-slip materials and photoluminescent pigment embedded in thermoset polyester carriers which integrally bond the active ingredients into the powdercoated aluminium following curing at C. 5 Part 3 Execution 3.01 Manufacturer s Instructions Compliance: Comply with manufacturer s product data, installation instructions and periodic evaluation Examination Site Verification of Conditions: Verify surface preparation, surface for installation should be level, clean and free of moisture. Installer shall notify Contractor, in writing, of conditions detrimental to the proper completion of the work. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. Beginning work means that Installer accepts substrates and conditions Preparation a. Surface Preparation - Concrete: Test prior to installation the reaction of installation adhesive with concrete sealant. Should sealant not bond with installation adhesive i) refrain from applying sealant until nosing is installed (care to be taken that sealant is not applied to nosing post installation), or ii) grind sealant back to original concrete. b. Surface Preparation Steel: Test prior to installation for reaction between i) installation adhesive and steel finish, and ii) between steel and any mechanical fix used. c. Surface Preparation Timber: Ensure timber is uncoated and in sound condition. d. Surface Preparation Painted/coated surfaces: Paint and most coatings do not have sufficient adhesion to the substrate to provide a permanent strong bond for stair nosings and similar fixings. Remove paint or other coatings and ensure a sound, clean substrate surface Installation Concrete/Steel/Timber - Fix using Bostik Seal N Flex FC (or equivalent) having cleaned full surface area. Allow 24 hours for curing with no foot traffic, area roped off. Mechanical fixing (if required) through pre-drilled holes Cleaning a. Cleaning - regular cleaning to remove built up dirt will ensure the photoluminescent material continues performing to specification. Mopping, brushing, hose water cleaning or wiping with a cloth will keep the photoluminescent surfaces clean. b. Cleaning Materials - tests show that products are not affected by most cleaning chemicals, however the use of highly alkaline (>ph12) undiluted cleaning chemicals should be avoided Protection Protection - Heavy objects must not be allowed to come in contact with the installed products.
