Atro Crete 2mm sip-resistant, Atro Crete 4mm sip-resistant (PTV 36) January 2019 Sef-smoothing poyurethane fooring Technica and instaation data sheet Product description FeRFA type 4 Atro Crete 2mm sip-resistant and Atro Crete 4mm sip-resistant (PTV 36) variants are fow appied poyurethane systems that give a sef-smoothing surface. The 2mm variant is suitabe for use in medium duty areas and the thicker 4mm variant is the heavier duty option. The variants provide a seamess matt finish and demonstrate exceent chemica resistance ensuring durabiity in the most demanding of industria environments. Standard coours The Atro Crete 2mm sip-resistant and Atro Crete 4mm sip-resistant (PTV 36) are avaiabe in a range of 6 standard coours. It must be noted, in common with other poyurethane screeds, ighter coours wi be prone to cosmetic yeowing on exposure to UV ight. Typica areas of use Food and drink production Goods and storage Packing Warehousing Laboratories and cean rooms Advantages Ease of instaation Ease of ceaning HACCP approved Exceent chemica and good stain resistance Provides seamess foor finish (substrate joints must be cut through) Durabe Matt finish Does not have the potentia to taint food when stored in cose proximity after 24 hours cure at 20 C Meets the requirements of Reguation (EC) No 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs Sustainabiity Atro s steps to sustainabiity program seeks to optimise our performance with respect to the panet s resources. Pease refer to for further information. Chemica resistance Atro Crete variants offer exceent resistance to a broad range of commony used chemicas. However, premature contact with chemicas (incuding water) during the curing process may give rise to discoouration, staining and variation in the surface. In a cases of chemica spiage, it is essentia that the spiage be immediatey removed and the surface washed down with cean water, removing water by wet vacuum after operation. Athough some chemicas may cause discoouration, this may not affect the durabiity and integrity of the resin screed. Pease refer to Atro and FeRFA Guidance Note No.3 for further information.

Atro Crete 2mm sip-resistant 3.6m 2 per12.6kg unit. Materia usage is dependent upon temperature, surface profie and porosity; stated coverage rates shoud be referred to for guidance ony and cannot be reied upon to determine exact quantities. Athough stringent quaity assurance processes are empoyed, when coour consistency is required, a singe batch shoud be used. Athough stringent quaity assurance processes are empoyed, when coour consistency is required, a singe batch shoud be used. Necessary transitions between batches shoud be panned for non-conspicuous areas. Exposure to Utra Vioet ight sources wi cause a cosmetic yeow discoouration. This effect wi be most pronounced in pae coours, and bue / grey shades (refer to Atro). Storage Ensure that the product is received in good order and store in a dry, frost-free environment, ideay between 15 C and 20 C for at east three days before aying. It is important to maintain the aggregate temperature during storage; ow temperatures in the aggregate wi adversey affect the product appication. Excessivey high and ow storage temperatures wi affect the aying performance of the product. Suitabe substrates Atro Crete may be appied to a variety of substrates incuding, but not imited to, concrete, poymer-modified cementitious screeds, terrazzo, 25mm marine-grade pywood (consut Atro for further guidance). For a proprietary subfoor systems refer to the manufacturer for recommendations and seek further guidance from Atro. FeRFA, The Resin Federation, does not recommend Cacium Suphate, Anhydrite or Hemi-hydrite screeds for overayment with synthetic resin surfaces. Substrate requirements Substrates shoud be dry, structuray sound and free from contamination, friabe materias or aitance which may affect either the adhesion or penetration of the resin system. A residues of od paint coatings and dust must be removed. The substrate shoud achieve 30N/mm² compressive strength (BS EN ) and surface tensie strength 1.5N/mm² (BS EN ). Substrates must incude an effective damp proof membrane and contain residua moisture not greater than 5% by weight (75% R.H.) to BS Thin-bed synthetic resin systems foow the surface of the substrate, so it is essentia that the surface reguarity of fatness conforms to or exceeds BS cass SR2 (+/- 5mm under a 2 metre straight edge). Any deviation from this may require a cementitious screed / repair mortar which must be suitabe to receive a poyurethane overay. Variabe porosity and profie of the substrate wi affect both coverage rates and fina appearance.

Substrate preparation Surface preparation is the most vita aspect of resin fooring appication. Inadequate preparation wi ead to oss of adhesion and faiure. The substrate in question wi dictate the method of preparation. In the case of a concrete foor, preparation by dust encosed diamond foor grinder may be appropriate, or if of a sufficient area for economic reasons, shoud be ighty shot basted to eave a textured surface free from contamination. If the foor has been treated with a cementitious surface improver, then the surface shoud be prepared in accordance with the manufacturer s recommendations, or abraded with an STR machine foowed by thorough vacuuming. Treatment of oca repairs such as cracks and hoes, improvement or modification of eves and remova of high spots, shoud be undertaken prior to the fooring instaation. A mechanica rebate shoud be formed around the perimeter of the instaation to avoid weakness at the most vunerabe zones, eveny distributing oads and stresses and preventing ingress of aggressive media to the subfoor and bond ine. A chase shoud be provided at a periphera edges, parae to expansion joints, at threshods, feather edges, at free edges of a cove, where dissimiar fooring materias join and at day joints. This is normay formed by casting a chase when the concrete is aid or by cutting using a wet cut concrete saw. The preferred dimensions of the rebate are twice the thickness of the screed in depth and twice the thickness of the screed in width. Anchorage rebates shoud be provided as cose to the perimeter as is practicabe. Pease consut Atro or FeRFA s Guide to the Specification and Appication of Synthetic Resin Fooring for further guidance. Panning Before proceeding with the instaation, carefu consideration shoud determine the best way of instaing the Atro system. Efforts shoud be made to minimise day joints and optimise the open time of the product (i.e. minimise the distance between mixing and aying). It is best to aso consider the effect of externa infuences on the fina instaation (i.e. direction of ight from windows etc.). Time spent at this stage wi be invauabe towards the success of your instaation. Appication The foowing appication guide is based on aboratory and simuated site conditions. However, when instaation conditions differ appreciaby from those detaied by Atro, the performance characteristics of both mixing and aying may not be as expected. To achieve the best resuts at a times pease endeavour to estabish the correct conditions which in turn wi aow the materias to be aid effectivey and meet your customer s expectations. Instaation conditions Appy in we ventiated areas. Both the sab and air temperature shoud be between 10 C and 25 C. It is not advisabe to mix and ay poyurethane resin products outside that range. Ambient conditions shoud be maintained at east 3 C above dew point or beow 75% R.H. during the initia stages of cure. At site temperatures beow 10 C cure times wi be substantiay increased uness some form of externa heating is used. Avoid using heating sources that give rise to high eves of humidity, such as those burning fossi fues. It must be recognised that the concrete sab temperature wi generay be ower than the air temperature, often as much as 10 C, and this wi govern the rate of cure. As the resin fooring cures, in condensing conditions moisture vapour may condense onto the surface and cause booming, a permanent couding of the surface. Cod substrates can give rise to pinhoes through the uncured resin. In unheated areas raise the substrate temperature prior to appication and maintain the temperature of the substrate during appication. Mixing equipment Sow speed dri ( rpm), such as MM17 * Mixing padde, such as MR3 Mega Mixer MM22 with MR3 padde Stainess mixing vesse, such as RM65 drum * * A too number references reate to Refina Ltd Atro recommend that stainess stee mixing, aying and appication toos are used in this process. Meta transfer from mid stee toos may resut in discoouration of ighter coours which wi be unacceptabe to your customer. Pease contact Atro for further guidance.

Priming the substrate When the surface quaity of the finished Atro Crete variant is important for hygiene or aesthetic reasons, a primer shoud be used. Priming heps to achieve a uniform finish, prevent bubbes and maximises adhesion. An Atro primer shoud be seected which is suited to the instaation, and appropriate for the nature and moisture content of the substrate (seek further guidance from Atro). For substrates ess than 75% RH (BS8203) Atro Crete primer is recommended. For substrates with greater than 75% RH (BS 8203) an effective damp proof membrane shoud be aid such as Atro Proof. If Atro Proof is used this may be instaed instead of Atro Crete primer. The primer shoud be we seaed and inspected for pinhoes prior to the appication of the Atro Crete system. A further coat of Atro Proof may be necessary to prevent the pinhoes from refecting through. Any areas of under-thickness shoud be addressed prior to instaing the system. The Atro primer shoud be appied in accordance with the product data sheet. If the over-coating time period for the primer is exceeded, the surface shoud be ighty abraded and vacuumed before further coats are appied. Do NOT seed the primer with aggregate, experience shows that this can ead to pinhoes from entrapped air. Product instaation Decant a the base, hardener and coour pack into a ta mixing vesse and mix thoroughy using a sow speed dri and mix for 30 seconds. The aggregate shoud be added graduay into the pre-mixed binder, whist continuing the mixing action, and mix for a further 2-3 minutes. Ideay a timer shoud be used to provide mixing consistency. Incorrect mixing, either too short or too ong may affect the appication and cause imperfections in the foor finish such as pinhoes or unevenness. Variations in the mixing time may produce variations in the coour or surface texture. Care shoud be taken to ensure that any materia adhering to the sides, bottom and corners of the mixer is thoroughy bended in. If the mixing area is not adjacent to the aying area the time required to transfer the mixed materia wi reduce the open instaation time. Do not eave the product in the mixing vesse; appy to the foor as soon as possibe. Remember to aways use the correct PPE. Note: Doube mixes are not recommended as the heat generated wi reduce the working time of the product. If capacity is required then increase the number of mixing machines / stations on site. Ensure extraction is in pace to remove airborne dust when adding aggregate. Decant a of the contents of the mixing vesse onto the foor and spread to the desired depth using a cean stainess stee trowe or a pin rake set at the desired depth. Immediatey spike roer the area unti uniform. Aways set out the area to be aid in order that a wet edge can be maintained between each gauge. Ensure the surface and the ine of each gauge is uniformy spike roered, but DO NOT EXCEED 15 minutes. Aways abut each gauge within 15 minutes of each other ideay in 5 metre wide bays. Care shoud be taken to ensure the mixing vesse is kept free of any buid-up of contaminants which coud fa off and contaminate the foor. Note: Ambient and sab temperatures wi dramaticay affect the appication and working time of this product. Storage of the materia units are aso critica to the aying performance and shoud be equiibrated to the instaation environment before use. Coving detai A coving detai where chemica resistance is required shoud be instaed using the Atro Crete cove which is specificay designed to be used in conjunction with the other Atro Crete variants. This product compements the foor but does not have the same appearance or texture as the foor system. This shoud be identified to the end user. Joints The spacing of movement joints must be determined by the design of the subfoor. A ive movement joints in the subfoor must be continued through the resin fooring. In a instances the type and positioning of movement joints shoud be agreed at the design stage between a parties concerned. Pease refer to Atro or FeRFA s Guide to the Specification and Appication of Synthetic Resin Systems for further guidance. A joints shoud be fied with Atro Expand fexibe jointing compound. Pease see Atro Expand data sheet for further information. Protection Whist of an extremey durabe nature these foor systems must by thoroughy protected from the rigours and abuse that exist during the ongoing contractua works. The resin foor shoud reach fu chemica cure in 7 days at 20 C. Untreated fet paper wi suffice as protection from ight traffic, however if protection is required from other trades then the foowing protection option shoud be considered. Where heavier access is required then a more suitabe medium to take the oadings, such as shuttering py or Correx by Cordek, shoud be paced on top of the untreated fet paper. The resin system shoud have cured for 48 hours prior to pacing the protection. No poyethyene sheets, inseed treated hardboard, print or dyed card shoud be paced in contact with the resin surface. A joints in the protection medium shoud be taped, and a accidenta spiages shoud be recovered immediatey by remova and reinstatement of the protection. Damage wi occur to the guidance is not foowed.

Ceaning (during instaation) A toos and equipment shoud be reguary ceaned using Atro Sove PU to reduce buid up and maintain the quaity of the instaation. Ensure that the correct PPE is worn at a times. Do NOT use Atro Sove EP. Disposa Due diigence must be adopted if accidenta spiages occur. Recover using inert absorbent granues, transferring into a suitaby marked container. Disposa of a empty containers and accidenta spiages shoud be in accordance with the oca waste disposa authority. Ceaning guidance Optimum sip resistance can ony be maintained with reguar ceaning. The texture of the surface wi require mechanised ceaning using the bue Atro Unipad or a ong-handed scrubbing brush. Mop ceaning wi not be effective. Steam ceaners and / or hot pressure ceaners shoud not be used on the foor or was. A cod / ambient pressure washer may be used if required, but the pressure shoud not exceed 1400psi. Warm water wi offer improved ceaning, but the water temperature shoud not exceed 60 C. Atro Cean 44 and Atro Unipads are avaiabe through the Resins Saes Desk. Pease refer to the most up-to-date technica documents, incuding safety data sheets, for the Atro resin variant prior to beginning your instaation. To order E-mai ResinSaesDesk@atro.com Ca Fax NOTE: Atro Ltd ( Atro ) endeavours to ensure that advice and information given in Product Data Sheets, Method Statements and Materia Safety Data Sheets (a known as Product Literature) is accurate and correct. However, where Atro has no contro over the seection of its products for particuar appications, it is important that any prospective customer, user or specifier, satisfies him / hersef that the product is suitabe for the intended appication. In this process, due regard shoud be taken of the nature and composition of the background / base and the ambient conditions both at the time of aying / appying / instaing / curing of the materia and when the competed work is to be brought into use. However, as site conditions and the execution of the work are beyond our contro, we accept no resutant iabiity. Atro s poicy is one of continuous research and deveopment and we reserve the right to update our products and information at any time without prior notice. Reguar ceaning regime Sweep or vacuum the foor to remove debris For norma ceaning, diute an akaine detergent such, as Atro Cean 44 or simiar, by 1:40 in cean water Aternativey, diute by 1:10 for infrequent heavy ceaning Liberay appy the water and detergent soution to the foor, scrubbing with a deck scrubber or sow-speed (< 400rpm) scrubbing machine and Atro UniPad or simiar Pay particuar attention to areas where residues may accumuate, such as interna corners of perimeter coves and around coumns etc If possibe, aow the detergent soution to remain on the foor for severa minutes to break down deposits, but not sufficienty ong to aow the soution to evaporate Remove the soution by wet vacuum recovery and foow this with a fresh water rinse, or rinse the soution into drains if permissibe It is important that a detergent residue is removed from the textured surface of the foor. Detergent may become sippery which affects safety, or sticky which attracts and hods more dirt If you d ike any more information or guidance pease get in touch, we re here to hep. te: fax: emai: enquiries@atro.com or expore
