1 Project Information Builder-Owner Dr Klaus Kessler KG, Hirschegg Location Hirschegg Completion 2002 Project facts nbar 494 m², GFA 554 m², GBV 2231 m³ A considered phase of works that creates one united design language and a stunning hotel comple The Naturhotel Chesa Valisa, is the jewel of the Kleinwalsertal region Today it is run by the fourth generation of the Kessler family and has, through great effort and dedication, been converted from an old Walser guesthouse into a year-round hotel The transformation from an old Walser Inn, with a stable block, into an all year round hotel and spa facility was an act of great courage and dedication that was executed over several years»the values that are important to us are healthy nutrition using region food, the close connection with the local agriculture, and the use of biologically positive materials With the architectural adjustments and the greening of the entire site there has been a continuation of these harmonious values reflected in the architecture of Hermann Kaufmann and the implementation of the building project«owner Naturhotel Chesa Valisa The annex was created in 2002The goal of the extension was to create a connection between the old building, which had been modified, and the Pension Schuster wing, which was designed and built in the 1960s This annex defines a new entrance while simultaneously creating a quiet and protected hotel guest garden, containing seating areas A new entrance area is made up of multiple facets A spacious lobby with a reception and natural products shop, a seminar room, there is a children s area and an authentic wine cellar This development phase creates a warm and welcoming reception and community area for the hotel In 2005, the southeast side of the old hotel is developed adding an extension to the dining room, which, in contrast to the existing collection of buildings, consciously shows the new architectural language of natural timber and glass In 2007, the southwest-facing Pension Schuster is expanded, redeveloped structurally and thermally, and extended the on the spa side The design is adapted to fit the connecting structure; the natural horizontal spruce timber cladding brings the building back into the architectural language of the alpine region This material also dominates the interiors in combination with clay-plastered walls In 2015, a new fitness room is added to the existing ground floor, creating a first floor on the northern wing of the building The sloping side terrace was elongated between the existing seminar room and the new exterior facade The facade design is similar to the already expanded spa, with copper sheet cladding In 2016, the south-facing, detached guesthouse Haus Franziska from the 1950s is completely renovated and rebuilt The basement and the ground floor are extended and the parts of the existing building that were demolished are rebuilt in timber, creating two new floors On the two upper floors are 14 guest rooms, located on the ground floor is a spacious private apartment The facade design is inspired by the open, horizontal screen formwork like that of the already renovated Naturhotel Chesa Valisa Here too, as with the work carried out in 2002, interior design was based on natural materials (wood, felt, wool) The Franziska House completes the entire ensemble and enhances the properties of the whole complex by brining security, clarity, tranquillity and sensuality The subject of sustainability is realised in many areas, the coherent concept is also continued in the culinary offer that is 100% organic and regional products dominate the kitchen Overall, the project is responding to the changes in the tourism industry, Hermann Kaufmann + Partner ZT GmbH Sportplatzweg 5 A-6858 Schwarzach T F office@hkarchitektenat
