DATASHEET: FIRECUT F-1 (EXTERIOR) SPRAY-APPLIED FIRE RESISTIVE MATERIALS Product Type FIRECUT F-1 (Exterior) Spray-Applied Fire Resistive Material is investigated for exterior and interior steel construction so as to have excellent adhesion to steel substrates. FIRECUT F-1 is formulated with materials such as cement, vermiculite, fiber (asbestos-free) and some other inorganic materials, where it does not only show the characteristic of steel strength of concrete, but also the toughness and the flexibility of the cross-stitched network of fiber. The physical properties is significantly better than equivalent products in the Market. During its burning in the fire, no toxic smoke is produced. After the burning, the burned coating remains as strong and intact as that before the burning, and it will not be destroyed by the wind-storm occurred in fire accidents. Characteristics 1. Excellent Physical Properties After it is applied and cured on the steel substrates, FIRECUT F-1 is tough and light. The impact resistance, compressive strength and bending durability are significantly higher than equivalent products. Due to its inclusion of tough and strong anti-deflection fiber, no peeling occurs under heavy blows. The physical properties can still be maintained even after 3 hours of burning in the fire, no chalking or loosen occurs. It can resist the wind-storm in the scene of fire accident and thus ensure its fire protection capability. 2. No asbestos Content The test done by Union Chemical Laboratory of Industrial Technology Research Institute shows that FIRECUT F-1 does not contain any asbestos at all. F-1 is also tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. according to ASTM E84 (UL 723), the smoke development is zero. PAGE 1 OF 6

3. Prohibition of Oxidation The components of FIRECUT F-1 can prohibit the oxidation of iron, no corrosion to the steel substrates will occur under direct contact. 4. Easy Application, Low Pollution After being mixed with water and stirred well, FIRECUT F-1 can be sprayed immediately. It has good fluidity and optimum viscosity. On top of the finished surfaces, different types of protective and decorative topcoats can be applied (not compulsory). After the application of topcoat system, it does not only provide a pleasant and colorful appearance, but also protect the F-1 from the direct contact with atmospheric pollution, thus prolong the warranty period. 5. Best Quality, Stable Supply F-1 cementitious mixture is certified and audited by Germany TUV CERT on Design/R&D, Production, Application, Sales/Service to comply with the DIN EN ISO 9001: 2008 Quality System. Together with Follow-up Service by U.S. Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and the annual production of millions of bags by automated production facilities, the stability of quality and quantity supply of F-1 is definitely more superior than that of the domestic and overseas products. 6. Fire Testing Certification (1) F-1 has passed the test of UL 263 (ASTM E119) Fire Test of Building Construction and Materials by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. It has the capability of protecting exterior and interior structural steel beams and columns and floor units up to 4 hours, and is registered as Design Nos. N 768, N808, Y 701, Y 703, Y 706, Y 711,D778 and D 983 and categorized as Fire Protection Coating for Exterior Structural Steel in General Building Construction in the Fire Resistance Directory which is published annually. (2) F-1 passed GB All Performance Type Tests on Fire Protection Coating for the Interior Thick Structural Steel by National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Fire Building Materials (NFTC) in Dujiangyan, Sichuan City of China. It is registered in the official website of National Center for Quality Supervision and Testing of Fire Building Materials, and is categorized as Fire Protection Coating for Thick-coat Interior H-type Structural Steel. (3) F-1 was also tested by Exova Warringtonfire in U.K. according to BS 476: Part 21: 1987 Standard and certified to acquire the fire protection capability up to 4 hours. It can be used I -type steel sections for beams and columns, tube steel beams and tube & circular steel columns. PAGE 2 OF 6

Suitable Coating Because the fire protection coating belongs to porous coating and is always exposed to exterior environment, the addition of the acidic & alkali- resistant, water-resistant and chemical resistant coating system with good adhesion will increase the durability and overall appearance of the fire protection coating. Suggested System: Spray the clear or colored water-based Emulsion Paint. 1. Type:Clear or various colored Water-based Acrylic Emulsion Paint. 2. Product No.:FIRECUT FW-33 or various colored Acrylic Emulsion Paint. 3. Total Dry Film Thickness:Suggest to apply at least 2 coats, min. D.F.T. > 40μm. 4. Description of Application : (1) Method of Application: Brush, roller or spray application. (2) It must be well-stirred before the application. If it is too concentrated, appropriate quantity of water can be added for dilution. (3) Grease, dust and any other adhered sludge on the surface of substrates must be cleared before the application. (4) The newly completed coating contains a vast amount of water and alkali materials which in turn reduce the coating performance and adhesion. It must be put aside and completely cured for 2 ~ 3 weeks until the water absorption rate is below 12% before the application. Physical Properties Data 1. Color (after curing) Greyish white 2. Shelf Life (Normal Environment) : At least one year (Note 1): Dry Density according to ASTM E 605 test refers to the curing equilibrium state, and not the absolute curing state. Under normal circumstance, FIRECUT F-1 reach curing equilibrium state when the water absorption is below 15%. (Note 2): The actual consumption of FIRECUT F-1 will vary according to the wastage, and the wastage depends on the application environment and work requirements. Preparation 1. Appropriate Substrates: Steel and Concrete. 2. Substrate preparation: The substrate must be cleaned and dried. All sludge, rust or oil, and any other materials which affect the good adhesion condition must be removed. FIRECUT F-1 can be applied directly to the steel surface and galvanized steel surface which has no primer or has anti-corrosive primer. 3. Metal Lath: FIRECUT F-1 (Exterior) Fire Protection Coating passed all fire tests without any addition of reinforced mesh to strengthen its stickability. However, in order to maximize its durability, no matter for interior or exterior works, the use of metal laths is widely accepted. Because of the use and existence of reinforced mesh, it can reduce the occurrence of peeling off due to weakening of adhesion caused by the long-term vibration. PAGE 4 OF 6

4. Type of Metal Laths: According to the chapter of Coating Materials and its relevant Design No. in the U.S. UL Fire Resistance Directory, there are at least two different types of Metal Lath which can be chosen for use : (1) Diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with Unit weight of 3.4 lb/yd 2. When H-section is enclosed as Boxed-Design, the diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with unit weight of 3.4 lb/yd 2 (1.85 kg/m 2 ) should be selected to enclose the H-section into a tube column, then spray FIRECUT F-1 coating to the required thickness according to the rating. (2) Diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with Unit weight of 1.7 lb/yd 2. It is also reinforced on the steel surface, normally used in building structural steel beams and columns for interior and exterior environment. According to the chapter of Coating Materials in the U.S. UL Fire Resistance Directory, the requirements are as below: i. When the steel section is coated with anti-corrosive primer or other coating, the test average adhesion<80% bare steel or individual adhesion<50% bare steel adhesion, then the diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with unit weight more than 1.7 lb/yd 2 (0.922 kg/m 2 ) must be filled for reinforcement. ii. When the flange width or web depth of the Column is >16 inch or the flange width of the Beam is > 12 inch, web depth is>16 inch, then diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with unit weight of 1.7 lb/yd 2 (0.922 kg/m 2 ) should be used to cover at least 25% of the flange width or web depth, the minimum width of the metal lath must not be smaller than 3-1/2 inch. (Note) : After FIRECUT F-1 was actually tested by Exova Warringtonfire, it was proved that When the Web Depth of the Steel Beams and Columns > 900 mm, the Galvanized Metal Lath of Kg/m 2 must be fixed on top of the surface of the steel sections before the application of F-1 Fire Protection Coating. 5. Types of Anti-corrosive Primer : The steel substrates used in all the fire tests for FIRECUT F-1 including those in the Fire Test Laboratories of U.L. in U.S.A., in Dujiangyan of China, and in WFRC in U.K. are blasted steel plates without over-coating of any anti-corrosive primers. Nevertheless in the steel structures of actual building construction, anti-corrosive primers are sprayed to meet the requirements of anti-corrosion performance in the steel sections. PAGE 5 OF 6

And the descriptions of various anti-corrosive primers used for FIRECUT F-1 are as below : (1) FIRECUT F-1 (Exterior) Fire Protection Coating was tested in U.L. Laboratory in U.S.A. with the overcoating of Inorganic Zinc Primer on the fire protection performance in the actual testing of steel sections and it was proved that the fire protection performance remains unchanged. The Inorganic Zinc Primer (IZ-01) was registered in the context of F-1 Design Number. (2) FIRECUT F-1 (Exterior) Fire Protection Coating was tested according to ASTM E736 Adhesion Test Standard against various anti-corrosive primer. Except the Red Lead Primer which cannot meet the requirements of adhesion performance, the rest of various anti-corrosive primers can completely be adhered to the F-1 Fire Protection Coating. (3) If the surface of the steel sections is over-coated with complete coating system (i.e. various topcoats), then the diamond mesh of galvanized or painted steel with unit weight of 1.7 lb/yd 2 (0.922 kg/m 2 ) should be used to fully strengthen the adhesion. Limitation of Application 1. The lowest environmental and substrate surface temperature must be above 4, such temperatures should be exceeded 24 hours before and after the application of FIRECUT F The lowest environmental and substrate surface temperature must be below 50 for F The surface temperature of substrates must be 2 higher than the Dew point Temperature.
