5 MicroFloor 600 is fast becoming the choice of many leading developers and construction organisations delivering value added solutions to win business in a competitive market. Acoustic Flooring MicroFloor 600 can be used as an acoustic measure in conformance with part E (1-4) of the building regulations 'Resistance to passage of Sound'. MicroFloor 600 will provide a cost effective solution to the provision of a raised access floor that will also serve as an acoustic and thermal barrier. MicroFloor 600 will combine with a range of acoustic materials - Cradles Acoustic quilt Board to deliver conformance with part E of the building regulations, or to provide enhanced building acoustic and thermal properties where Part E is not applicable or required. 5

6 MicroFloor 600 provides high load strength and longevity, unlike other 'economically' priced Raised Access Floor Systems that have a compromised specification. MicroFloor 600 Sustainable System Components The MicroFloor 600 system is one of the most sustainable raised access flooring systems on the market, in fact we would challenge you to find one more that has greater sustainable qualities. Panels: Our P6 high strength panels are only supplied from PEFC (certificate HCA- CoC-0183) and FSC (certificate HCA-CoC and HCA- CW ) sources. The composition of each panel is Co- Product 1 (45%, Recycled Material 2 30% and industrial log wood 3 25%) 1. Co-products include sawmill by-products such as hackchips, cross-cuts, sawdust and wood shavings. 2. Recycled material comes from waste wood recovered from discarded goods such as furniture, pallets or packaging materials as well as nonsaleable products (rejects) from inhouse production. Block Pedestals: Our block pedestals are comprised of 80% recycled product - 80% of the material used in our Thermalite blocks is recycled pulverised fuel ash (PFA), which is both stable and environmentally friendly. Shims: Shims and pedestals caps are manufactured using 100% recycled plastic bead. Adhesive: The MicroFloor 600 adhesive used to bond pedestals (Polyped 2) to the sub floor complies with the VOC requirements of SCAQMD Rule 1168 for multi purpose construction adhesives. As well as LEED V.2 (2005) and LEED V.3 (2009) for EQ Credit 4.1: Low Emitting Materials- Adhesives and Sealants. 3. Industrial wood is small diameter round wood produced from sustainably managed forests. Micro Floor 600 6

7 Environmental and Sustainable Building Design MicroFloor 600 and LEED LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) is a globally accredited green construction certification system, providing thirdparty validation that buildings and infrastructure were designed and constructed using an approach that will enhance performance in terms of reduced energy consumption and CO 2 emissions, greater water efficiency, improved internal environmental quality, sustainable management of resources and understanding of their impact on the environment. LEED accreditation is based upon a point scoring matrix that covers all aspects of a construction project. MicroFloor 600 can assist organisations to gain points in the following 'Materials and Resources' categorisation:- MR Credit 1.2 relates to internal building non-structural detail, floors, stud walls (for remedial or fit out projects) etc. MicroFloor 600 is designed for long life and can be relocated and reused and will therefore assist organisations to gain points within this categorisation. MR Credit 3 covers reuse of materials, as with MR Credit 1.2 above MicroFloor 600 can be reused and relocated. MR Credit 4 covers recycled content of materials used, MicroFloor 600 features a high recycled content (see Page 6 - Sustainable System Components) - the more MicroFloor 600 used in a project the greater the overall recycled content. MR Credit 5 covers materials that have been produced, manufactured, or grown, points are allocated for materials being supplied or sourced within 500 miles of the project location, MicroFloor 600 materials are all sourced within 175 miles of Workspace Technology's Head Office based in the West Midlands (UK). MR Credit 6 covers renewable products and materials made from trees, plants and other natural matter, occurring through a 10-year cycle. As some of the wood content used in the production of MicroFloor 600 comes from renewable sources that take longer than 10 years to grow, MR Credit 6 can usually not be allocated against the use of MicroFloor 600. Our use of recycled materials does nevertheless reduce the impact of our use of wood products on the environment. MR Credit 7 covers wood supplied from a certified source, points are awarded where at least 50% of wood based materials are certified by the FSC. All MicroFloor 600 panels are sourced from FSC and PEFC accredited wood suppliers, and so the more MicroFloor 600 used in any development the greater the LEED benefit. 7

8 MicroFloor 600 and BREEAM BREEAM - is an Environmental Assessment Method for non-domestic buildings and structures in the UK and is a universally accepted standard designed to deliver best practice in sustainable construction design and has become the default metric to assess a building s environmental performance. BREEAM provides a comprehensive view on environmental and sustainability challenges and enables architects, designers and construction organisations to prove the environmental qualifications of their buildings to planners and potential purchasers or clients. BREEAM can be applied to new build and major refits of construction and fit-outs or refurbishments of commercial developments. Construction materials are assessed under BREEAM and are awarded credits against a wide range of criteria. No one item or material can acheive a BREEAM rating, however the specifications and sustainable sourcing of a comprehensive range of materials for a construction project are assessed to understand how many BREEAM 'credits' can be achieved. MicroFloor 600 can assist your organisation to achieve BREEAM credits: Health & Wellbeing Credit HEA9 covers Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) present in a range of wood products which includes timber flooring, floor finishes, coverings and adhesives. MicroFloor 600 P6 particleboard panels conform with the requirements of BS EN 13986:2004. The MicroFloor 600 adhesive used to bond pedestals (Polyped 2) complies with the VOC requirements of SCAQMD Rule 1168 for multi purpose construction adhesives. As well as LEED V.2 (2005) and LEED V.3 (2009) for EQ Credit 4.1: Low Emitting Materials- Adhesives and Sealants Materials Credit Mat 1-4 do not apply to Raised Access Flooring Credit Mat 5 covers the sustainable and responsible sourcing of materials that have been produced, manufactured, or grown. Points are allocated for materials being supplied or sourced within 500 miles of the project location. MicroFloor 600 materials are all sourced within 175 miles of Workspace Technology's Head Office based in the Midlands, UK. The timber content of MicroFloor 600 panels are sourced from FSC and PEFC accredited wood suppliers, assisting in gaining points under the upper floors section of MAT 5. Mat 7 relates to the use of 'robust' materials where required to fulfill the design. MicroFloor 600 is a sturdy system designed for continuous futureproofed use, enabling the versatility required to accommodate various building and working space usage. MicroFloor 600 components contain up to 78% recycled materials, and can be relocated, re-used or recycled making it one of the most sustainable raised flooring systems on the market, assisting clients gain BREEAM and LEED credits and points.
