21 Agenda 1 Introduction & Overview 2 Project Site 3 Core and Shell Space Program 4 Schematic Design 5 Special Requirements 21

22 Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Architecture Energy Saving Exterior Building Shell Low VOC and Chemically Resistant Interior Finishes Code Requirements for Mixed-Uses, i.e. Separations Wall and door partition schedule UL fire-rated partition systems Wall partition type for STC 65 acoustical rating Building setback requirements Accommodations for the disabled Full fit-out of Auditorium + Conference Ctr for 500 p. Full fit-out of Institute offices Fit-out of Laboratories with Institute Requirements Above-ground or Underground Parking for 140 cars Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Engineering Construction within occupied campus Geotechnical report will impact structural design HVAC and Building Services provided for future fit-out 100% Exhaust for Laboratories and Vivariums Reliable electrical systems Effluent decontamination for laboratories Septic holding tank prior to entry to Manila sewer 22

23 Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Core+Shell HVAC system for laboratory areas SUPPLY AIR 100% outside air variable air volume air handling units supplying conditioned air to a manifolded supply air distribution system conditioned supply air delivered to each laboratory space maintains the required directional airflow requirements, space temperature and humidity conditions, and building pressurization. 100% outside air variable volume air handling unit(s) located in the Penthouse. conditioned supply air will be distributed to the floors and individual air terminal units for occupied rooms. Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Core+Shell HVAC system for laboratory areas EXHAUST AIR Exhaust from each space, is required to maintain either a defined air change rate or to remove contaminants, Exhaust is removed via an exhaust airflow control device that is connected to an exhaust manifold. Exhaust manifold is then exhausted by roof mounted laboratory grade exhaust fans. Both the variable air volume air handling units and the exhaust fans will be sized to provide 100% redundant capacity for animal areas and 60% redundancy for noncritical laboratory areas. 23

24 Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Core+Shell HVAC system for laboratory areas COOLING OF OUTSIDE AIR Cooling of the outside air for laboratory areas and for outside air for building ventilation will be provided by a chilled water plant located in the Penthouse. The chillers will be centrifugal water cooled chillers with variable speed primary chilled water pumps and variable speed condenser water pumps. The chillers will reject heat to cooling towers mounted on the roof. Special Requirements Architectural, Engineering and Construction Specialties Core+Shell HVAC system for laboratory areas RE-HEAT AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY Hot water for reheat purposes in the laboratory areas will be provided by condensing type gas-fired boilers located in the Penthouse. Energy efficiency technologies will be utilized to minimize loads to the maximum extent reasonably possible without compromising system reliability. 24
