1 EXTERIOR ENCLOSURE - PART Exterior Wall Construction A. The exterior wall systems consist of the assemblies outline below. Drawings will indicated the acronym associated with each of the wall system indicated below. It is expected that each of these systems will be revised and variations of each will occur during the Design Development phase of the Project. 1. Exterior Wall Construction a. Architectural Precast Concrete over Concrete Unit Masonry Wall Assemblies b. Metal Panel over Metal Studs c. Thru Wall Concrete Masonry Unit Assemblies d. Aluminum Framing System Assemblies 4.2 Exterior Metal Panel Wall Systems (074219) A. Solid Plate Metal Panel System Over Steel Stud (MP-2): 1. Solid plate metal wall assembly consisting of structural steel stud framing and metal panels (MP-1). a. Location: 1) At top of walls at coping. 2. Sealant: ASTM C 920; silicone sealant; at concealed locations. 3. Polyisocyanurate Rigid Insulation (INSUL-15): 2 thick, with foil face both sides, attached to wall framing with stainless steel Z furring. 4. Moisture Barrier (MB-2): Liquid applied membrane. a. Two component, synthetic rubber, cold-vulcanized, fluid applied air and vapor barrier membrane. b. Thickness: 60 mil c. Basis of Design: Grace Construction Products, Perm-A-Barrier Liquid. d. Other Acceptable Manufacturers: 1) Henry Company 2) Carlisle Coatings and Waterproofing 5. 5/8 inch thick fiberglass faced exterior gypsum sheathing (GYP SHTG-1), seal joints between panels and around gypsum panels with silicone sealant inch galvanized steel studs. a. Gauge: 16 minimum or as required to limit deflection to L/600 of the studs only with a maximum deflection at mid-span of 0.4 inch maximum. b. Spacing: 16 inches on center maximum. c. 2 4.3 Architectural Precast Concrete (033300) A. Architectural Precast Insulated Wall Panels (APC-1): Exterior wall system consists of plant cast architectural concrete panels veneer over concrete masonry walls. 1. Finish: (APC-1): Brick inlay. 2. Joints: Sealed joints interior and exterior. a. Exterior: Low modulus silicone, Color: gray 3. Panel Anchors: Stainless steel stone anchors, with expansion bolt attachment to masonry back up wall. 4. Cavity Weep System: Consists of through-wall flashing, cavity drainage mat and weeps. a. Through-Wall Flashing: Laminated Copper, 3 oz. b. Cavity Drainage Mat: 2 thick by Mortar Net c. Weeps: 3/8 diameter cotton rope 5. Polyisocyanurate Rigid Insulation (INSUL-15): 2-1/2 thick, with foil face both sides 6. Moisture Barrier (MB-2): Liquid applied membrane. a. Grout: ASTM C Non-bearing metal stud (2-1/2 inch deep) furring at 16 inches on center attach to masonry. 9. 5/8 inch gypsum board (GYP BD-1). 4.4 Sealant Systems: (079200) A. Sealant Schedule - Exterior: 1. Joints at masonry to masonry: Low modulus silicone 2. Joints at metal panel to curtainwall and to masonry: Low modulus silicone 3. Joints at aluminum curtain wall, windows to masonry: Ultra- Low modulus silicone 4. Joints subject to traffic (horizontal): Self-leveling 2 part polyurethane traffic bearing. B. Sealant Requirements: ASTM C VOC Content of Interior Sealants: Provide sealants and sealant primers for use inside the weatherproofing system that comply with the following limits for VOC content when calculated according to 40 CFR 59, Subpart D (EPA Method 24): a. Architectural Sealants: 250 g/l. b. Nonmembrane Roof Sealants: 300 g/l. c. Single-Ply Roof Membrane Sealants: 450 g/l. d. Sealant Primers for Nonporous Substrates: 250 g/l. e. 3 C. Cylindrical Sealant Backings: ASTM C 1330, Type C (closed-cell material with a surface skin) 4.5 Exterior Doors and Frame: (081113) A. Exterior Hollow Metal Doors: 1. Complying with SDI Type II, extra-heavy duty, Model 1 full flush design with polyurethane core a. 1-3/4 inch thick, b. 14 gauge insulated hollow metal doors. c. Hot dipped galvanized steel (G90). d. Flush top channel at out swinging exterior doors. e. Fill seams with filler and grind smooth before finishing. 2. Hollow Metal Frames: 14 gauge with welded and mitered joints. a. Hot dipped galvanized steel (G90). 3. Grout frames with Portland cement grout. 4. Field painted doors and frames. 5. Locations a. See Floor Plans: 4.6 Aluminum Entrances (084113) A. Aluminum Framing System (AFS-1): Aluminum Entrance and Storefront System consisting of thermally broken aluminum frame systems and monumental door system at entries. 1. Aluminum Entrance Systems and at Exterior windows. a. Profile: 2 by 4-1/2 inch b. Thermally broken receptor heads and high performance thermally broken extruded sub sills 2. Door: 5 inch Medium style heavy duty monumental aluminum door system. a. Height: 8 feet b. Acceptable Manufacturers 1) Kawneer 2) Tubelite 3) CMI Architectural 3. Glass: Refer to Elevations for locations of glass types. Glass Design to meet ASTM 1300, 1 insulated thickness a. Windows: GL-21 b. Doors and Entries: GL-21T c. Vestibule Doors: GL-1T 4. Door Hardware by Manufacturer: a. Weather-stripping 5. Finish of Framing and: Clear anodized. 4.7 Skylights (084423) A. Skylights: Factory fabricated and pre-assembled, structurally glazed, thermally broken system. 1. System Description: a. Self-flashing unit skylights with integral curb. Clear Low-E Insulated Glass Unit (GL-21): 1 inch thick unit constructed of 1/4 inch exterior light, 1/2 inch air space, and 1/4 inch clear interior. High performance low-emissive coating on No. 2 surface and argon gas in cavities. Glass thickness and thickness of individual glass plies are minimum. One or both lights heat strengthened where required for wind pressure or thermal stress 1. Acceptable products: a. Viracon: Solar screen 2000 VE 1-2M B. Clear Tempered, Low-E Insulated Glass Unit (GL-21T): 1 inch thick unit constructed of 1/4 inch clear tempered exterior light, 1/2 inch air space, and 1/4 inch clear interior. High performance lowemissive coating on No. 2 surface and argon gas in cavities. Glass thickness and thickness of individual glass plies are minimum. One or both plies heat strengthened where required for wind pressure or thermal stress. Both plies tempered where necessary to comply with safety code requirements. 1. Acceptable products: a. Insulated Glass Spandrel Units (GL-41): 1 inch thick insulated glass unit, 1/4 inch clear heat strengthened outboard light, 1/2 inch air space, 1/4 inch clear heat strengthened inboard light with ceramic frit patterns matching GL-23, GL Spandrel areas to be boxed per curtain wall details. 4.9 Other Exterior Components A. Sectional Overhead Doors: 1. Product: Vertical lift doors, electronically operated from interior location. 2. Acceptable manufacturers: a. Raynor b. Midland Garage Door Company c. Overhead Doors Inc. 5 4.10 Exterior Metal Louvers (089000) A. Exterior Louvers (LVR-1): 6 inch deep prefinished aluminum louvers with recessed mullion blade design double drainage channels constructed of not less than inch thick aluminum. Provide complete with bird screen, sub-sills, integral structural supports and blade braces. 1. Blade angle: 45 degrees. 2. Finishes: 2 coat, 70 percent PVDF resin coating, color to match metal panel color. 3. Performance requirements: (based on 4 foot by 4 foot unit) a. Free area: 48 percent. b. Pressure drop at 0.01 inch water: c. Water penetration 0.01 ounces per square foot of free area: 897 fpm. 4. Basis of Design: Airolite Co. Model K6776 Drainable Blade Louver. a.
