BRE Updated manuals and forms BRE RdSAP Manual v8.0 (April 2012) Heating Codes (April 2012) QSAP v9.0.0 (April. 2012) Quest/BRE field sheets (April 2012) Main site notes Additional extensions Measure windows Available via the Members Area of the BRE scheme websites:
RdSAP changes April 2012 New data collection External Walls: Thickness, dry-lining, additional cavity wall insulation, insulation thickness, hard-to-treat cavities, expanded alternative wall(s) Partially insulated roof rooms: Floor insulation thickness Draught proofing Window orientation - measured option only Doors - external or to unheated corridors/stairwells Flue Gas Heat Recovery System (FGHRS) Waste Water Heat Recovery System (WWHRS) Photovoltaics (PV) Solar water heating details Wind turbine details
RdSAP changes 2012 U-values Entry of U-values for construction elements All constructional elements to show default U-value Energy Assessor will be able to over-ride the default values based on explicit documentary evidence U-values can be applied to: External Walls Roofs (other than rooms-in-roof) Floors Doors (external and any to unheated corridors and stairwells) Windows (U-value and g-value)
RdSAP changes 2012 U-values U-values basic principles Thermal performance of building elements Thermal transmittance from warm to colder surfaces Greater insulation = Lower U-values = Lower heat demand Unit of measure: W/m²K Btu per hour through 1 m 2 for a 1 o C temperature difference. Domestic Energy Assessors are not expected to calculate or estimate U-values: this option is only to be used when documentary evidence is available specifying what the U-values are (RdSAP Convention 9.02). The source of this evidence must be recorded and a copy retained.
RdSAP changes April Recommendations New Recommendations for: Flat roof insulation. Room-in-roof insulation. Floor insulation. Insulated doors. Waste Water Heat Recovery System (WWHRS). Flue Gas Heat Recovery System (FGHRS). Alternative Recommendations covering: Air or ground source heat pump (inc. underfloor) Micro-CHP (Combined Heat & Power) Biomass boiler External insulation with cavity wall insulation
QSAP v9.0.0 DEA Reminders Only over-write default U-values when documentary evidence is available must retain a copy for audit purposes (RdSAP Convention 2.22) Always measure the thickness of each external wall, including any alternative/sheltered walls (RdSAP Convention 3.08) When using the measured windows option, the orientation of each window must be recorded (see Appendix S) Must record the number of external doors doors to outside or unheated spaces (RdSAP Convention 3.09) Examine draught proofing for all doors and at least two windows per building part (RdSAP Convention 3.11) Software now automatically includes portable electric heaters with night storage heaters, unless fixed secondary heating is entered A Flue Gas Heat Recovery System (FGHRS) can only be entered if found in the database (RdSAP Convention 9.06)
