7 relevant experience BMD Constructions delivers major civil and industrial infrastructure for the resources and energy sector across every stage of the resources supply chain. Hay Point Expansion Mackay, QLD, $175m BM Alliance Coal Operations Pty Ltd Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd December September 2013 BMD Constructions was originally engaged to deliver the client s prereclamation, quarry and reclamation contract as part of the overall expansion. Works largely involved the reclamation of 10.2 hectares of land including the excavation, processing and hauling of 1.3Mt of material. During the performance of the original contract, BMD Constructions was awarded additional contracts comprising of the Onshore Civil Works and General Services Contract. The additional works included the construction of the concrete foundations, washdown slabs, underground conduit and services installation and site facilities maintenance and management. BMD Constructions was awarded an additional $125 million in contracts as a result of performance, safety initiatives, management and completing in excess of 650,000 hours LTI free. After three years of construction, the completion of the major coal terminal expansion not only delivered to the highest technical standards but also placed staff and local businesses first. APLNG Material Offloading Facility Gladstone, QLD, $150m Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd (Oil and Gas) June December 2012 BMD Constructions was engaged to design and construct the Materials Offloading Facility as part of early works to facilitate the delivery of pre-constructed modules making up the Australian Pacific LNG plant. The works involved the design and construction of a Roll-on Roll-off (Ro-Ro), Lift-on Lift-off (Lo-Lo) wharf including suitable heavy pavement construction and associated electrical and firewater systems as required by an international port. Early understanding of the isolation that comes with building on an island, and the demand placed on Gladstone suppliers during the peak of construction of three major gas facilities, allowed the project team to develop procurement systems which were managed through alternative marine logistics. This was key to allowing the project to be completed in line with the client s stretch target, well ahead of the contractual requirements and achieved client recognition from every level. Safety was not compromised, completing in-excess of 300,000 hours LTI free. Overall BMD developed an excellent working relationship with Bechtel exceeding their safety, quality and operational protocols within a challenging environment. Bechtel Australia Pty Ltd was appointed as company representative and agent. BMD Constructions was engaged to construct the mine haul roads and pads, security access gates, mine industrial facility, coal processing plant facilities, train load out facilities, temporary warehouse facilities, general service installation and electrical work. A high level of performance was achieved through weekly progress meetings with contractors, the client and other key stakeholders. Notably, the Caval Ridge General Services project achieved over 140,000 hours LTI and MTI free for the project. Overall BMD developed an excellent working relationship with the client meeting all environmental, safety and operational protocols. The Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal (WICET) is located at Golding Point and will form part of the existing Port of Gladstone. WICET has been designed to cater for the future coal demand worldwide. BMD Constructions was awarded the civil works contract for the construction of the terminal s rail receival facility and upgrades to Gladstone-Mt Larcom Road. The rail receival facility is designed to handle 7,600 tonnes of coal per hour and is connected to the terminal stockyard by a 5.5 kilometres overland conveyor. As part of the scope, BMD Constructions was contracted to complete the civil and concrete works for the rail receival facility and overland conveyor. BMD Constructions also undertook civil and structural works within the Gladstone- Mt Larcom Road corridor including roadwork and bridges for public and project related use. The upgrade of Gladstone-Mt Larcom Road improved safety for workers accessing the WICET site during operations, together with the travelling public. The Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal (DBCT) is located at the Port of Hay Point, 38 kilometres south of Mackay, Queensland. In 2004 the terminal commenced its seventh expansion (DBCT 7X) to increase the terminal s export capacity. As part of the expansion of the existing stockyard, BMD Constructions was engaged to construct three machinery bunds each 1.3 kilometres in length with associated earthworks and services. Construction of two of the bunds involved placement of over 2,000 precast panels each weighing 14.5 tonnes. Subsequent contracts involved the reclamation of 1.6 hectares of tidal area at the existing outloading conveyor and construction of access roads and a conveyor underpass. The project received an audit score of 96% compliance with the Connell Hatch safety management systems audit 90% being the compliance benchmark, and a successful audit resulted in BMD Constructions accreditation with the Office of the Federal Safety Commissioner. Safety was not compromised, achieving 500,000 hours LTI free. Caval Ridge General Services, QLD Wiggins Island Coal Export Terminal GC07 & GC08, QLD Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal 7X Expansion, QLD

The X50 expansion of Abbot Point Coal Terminal has increased annual throughput of coal exports to 50 million tonnes and effectively duplicated the existing terminal infrastructure. BMD Constructions delivered all onshore civil and concrete work, under the contract which included a new machinery bund, in-loading conveyors, out-loading conveyors, transfer towers, surge bin, major drainage structures, services installations, access roads and bridges. Additional scope included six single span reinforced concrete bridges; 220,000m³ bulk earthworks 145,000m³ drill and blast; 69,250m³ imported fill and 3.6 kilometres of polyethylene water. BMD Constructions also participated in the client s local employment initiative which secured placement for local indigenous trainees. Based on performance, BMD Constructions was awarded additional contracts as part of the overall X50 Expansion project. Located 180 kilometres north-west of Brisbane, the Tarong Power Station can supply electricity to the equivalent of eight cities the size of Toowoomba. BMD Constructions was engaged to design, procure, construct and commission its Ash Disposal System. The system collects, liquefies, pumps, transfers and places ash slurry from the two Tarong power stations to an open cut mine void five kilometres away. Key deliverables in the ash collection involved two kilometres of 150 diameter. XStrong carbon steel pipe, one mega litre steel tank, support structure and agitator and converting the ash to slurry (55% concentration). The ash transfer system comprised of two sets of four 185 kilowatts slurry system pumps in series with half the route on the power station site and half across the mine. This involved four kilometres of 300 diameter HDPE lined steel pipe and ten kilometres poly pipe. Key initiatives for success included prompt design development, identifying and expediting procurement of long lead time items and focusing on commissioning and operations early. Located 180 kilometres west of Mackay, Newlands Coal Mine was originally developed as an open cut mine. Linking the northern workings of the existing Newlands mine with the Suttor Creek coal deposit, BMD Constructions delivered a new 3.6 kilometres haul road incorporating an arch bridge over the existing Newlands-Glenden Road and an additional 8.6 kilometres of haul road construction that was subsequently added to the contract. Construction of new portals for the underground mining operations involved the provision of three main gates at the base of a 70 metres high wall. The portal entries consisted of 13 precast concrete elements with installation of two sets of blast fire doors per portal (each weighing four tonnes), hydraulics to operate the doors, steel gantries and access ladders. BMD Constructions achieved an early completion date despite significant scope increases that were initiated during the construction period.
