2 Acoustic Absorption Objective The space in which we live and work must not engender acoustic distortion. Such distortion is absorbed by absorbent acoustic materials inserted in the construction. The following table shows the main areas: Space; their major dysfunctions: Nuisance; the regulations applied to avoid these deviations: Regulations; the TERREAL Solution column gives the page on which our company presents the technical solutions to these constraints. 4 Phonicéram Le Phonicéram is a terra cotta element with vertical or horizontal perforations (20% perforation rate). A layer of 80 mm rock wool padding with a density of 150 kg/m3 is installed 22 mm from the terra cotta facing. The unit gives an absorption curve with a main characteristic which is its remarkable behaviour at low frequencies, where we obtain values of 0.79 to 250 Hz and 0.55 to 125 Hz. This behaviour may change according to the thickness of mineral wool and the distance of the terra cotta product from the supporting wall, so that acoustic efficacy can be modulated without altering the visual appearance. 5 Phonicéram db A product with a similar appearance to Phonicéram, except that it is a built-in product where the rock wool and terra cotta facing form a single unit because they are glued together. The terra cotta facing has vertical or horizontal perforations (20% perforation rate). The mineral wool padding is 22 mm thick with a density of 150 kg/m3. The unit gives an absorption curve with good high frequency values, in a perfect illustration of our previous observations on the evolution of product performance according to the position of the terra cotta facing relative to the supporting wall, as well as the type and position of the fibrous padding installed behind. We can see that this possibility of variability provides excellent complementarity between Phonicéram db and Phonicéram HxWxTh Product code Quantity of product Laboratory: LGAI Date: 24 January 2000 test n : Unit weight (Kg) Field residential education industry tertiary Weight au m 2 (Kg) Index ( ) ( ) ( ) land based Value Mounting grid (mm) Phonicéram db vertical perf 300 x 300 x 15 PHDV01 1/m 2 2, x x 605 x 15 PHDV02 5,4/m 2 4, x 610 Phonicéram db horizontal perf 300 x 300 x 15 PHDH01 1/m 2 2, x x 605 x 15 PHDH02 5,4/m 2 4, x 610 aluminium rail 40 x 3000 x 20 AC30 3,5ml/m 2 1,5 1, extra-wide black lacquered rail 53 x 3000 x 20 AC40 3,5ml/m 2 1,9 2, NB: the 305 mounting grid for fitting to aluminium rail only ( ) = Mean on octave bands 500, 1000, Hz. 7 Acoustic shingles Very long element, with a 17% perforation rate (circular perforations 14 mm in diameter), a central cavity filled with 30 mm thick rock wool, with a density of 140 kg/m3. As with acoustic bricks, this product belongs to the "Resonator" family, characterised by maximum absorption at the system's resonance frequency, while maintaining satisfactory absorption at high frequencies (presence of absorbent material providing a certain damping effect). 8 Acoustic Bricks Perforated brick with one facing perforated to 15% with circular holes, 14 mm in diameter. The cavity into which these perforations lead is filled with 30 mm thick rock wool, with a density of 140 Kg/m3. We obtain an absorption bell curve which is characteristic of resonators. Maximum absorption levels are reached at the resonance point; the fibrous padding gives interesting values at high frequencies.
