3 RIDLEY CROFT Barns are an exclusive conversion of Victorian farm barns into eleven luxury, 3 and 4 bedroom homes. Set in the stunning Cheshire countryside, these barn conversions are accessed via the original listed Gatehouse of Ridley Hall which is believed to date from the late 15th Century. The properties surround a spacious, landscaped courtyard and offer luxury living in truly unique surroundings. Sympathetically converted by multi award-winning contractors Kitwe Developments Ltd, great care and attention has gone into the conversion process to ensure the character and setting of the development has been retained. All of the properties have attractive countryside views. The north range benefits from views across the adjoining land (believed to have been the site of the original Ridley Hall) to both Peckforton and Beeston Castles. HISTORY Ridley Croft Barns are steeped in history. The original Ridley Hall was built as the fairest gentleman s house in all Chestreshyre (as documented in John Leland s Itinerary of 1530) by Sir William Stanley of the powerful Stanley family of Latham, Lancashire. However, Stanley was beheaded in 1495 and Henry VIII granted Sir Ralph Egerton the Manor of Ridley in 1513, including Ridley Hall. The original Gatehouse to the Hall stands as the impressive entrance to Ridley Croft Barns today and still bears the Egerton Coat of Arms. Ridley Hall was garrisoned in the Civil War and is believed to have burnt down circa The present barns are believed to have been added onto the Gatehouse in the 19th Century, together with the current Ridley Hall to the West. Buying one of these unique properties means you re buying into a slice of local history.
