2 What is Gypsum Plaster? Plastering is one of the most ancient of the building handicrafts. Historical evidence shows that The Pharaohs of Egypt used plaster surfaces in their palaces and pyramids. Further additional aggregates are added to the plaster for better workability. Once all the ingredients have been weighed out correctly, the batch of powder is transferred into a batch mixer, where all of the ingredients are combined together placed in the warehouse, or loaded into trucks for distribution. When walls are constructed with bricks or blocks, Earlier Internal plastering used to be done through traditional process of sand-cement plastering process and involves multiple elements like sand, cement and water which is mixed on site. Traditional form of plastering is being slowly replaced by a direct application of gypsum plaster. 5 Advantages of JR PLAST VER-MIX No Curing Required: JR PLAST Gypsum plasters requires no water curing and should be peradvantage considering the weather conditions in the Tropical Country like India. Fire Inhibitor: Gypsum is non-combustible (inert), designated class O in a accordance to BS 476:4:1970, and contains a high content of crys- - er and will protect the block work, concrete and steel. 6 Application Guide J.R. PLAST Gypsum plasters are applied using hawk and trowel method as per recommended practice where the thickness in one application should not exceed 15 mm. It can be applied on most existing surfaces. The suitability of particular background should be considered in relation to its strength, suction, bonding properties, shrinkage or thermal movement characteristics, water and soluble salt content. Mixing Bucket / Drum Or Any Another Container. (Must Be Clean) Clean Water. Stirring Drill / Stirring Stick. (Stirring Can Be Done Manually Too) Note : 1. Container / tools / Water & other required equipment s & materials should be free from impurities. 2. Always mix plaster to water. 3 Stir well until a uniform paste is formed. Before you start plastering, nail battens vertically, 60 cm (2 ft) apart from each other. These battens will act as guides to level the plaster. (Note: Labors having practice of Sand & cement Plastering can apply our product very easily. Hence if they are well practiced of leveling, then they don t need to place battens on wall.) Allow the mixed plaster to reach / gain its initial setting time.

7 Application 1. Recommended thickness of applied plaster should be 3 mm to 15 mm max, however higher thickness plaster can be applied in more than one application. 2. Scoop off the plaster. Level the hawk and tip the plaster back onto it. 3. Apply the plaster onto the wall. Push the trowel upwards, steadily reducing the angle of the blade as the plaster is spread onto the wall, until it is parallel with the wall. 4. Press and squeeze the plaster against the wall. 5. Quickly scoop off the practice layer, and begin applying the floating coat in strips, from the bottom right hand corner. 6. Use a batten, level the plaster to create an even surface. Slide the tool from the bottom of the area, to the top. 7. Scrape the whole floating coat with a devilling float (a wooden float with nails). This ensures that the next coat of plaster adheres properly. 8. Spread another layer of plaster from top to bottom. 9. With your trowel, smooth the surface using a wide sweeping motion. 11. Dampen the blade of your trowel and sweep the surface again. plaster. Again, level the surface with the batten. 13. Smooth the entire area with your trowel. Allow the gypsum plaster to dry for hours (depending on weather conditions)

8 Saving Tips The background to be plastered should be thoroughly brushed with broom to remove dust and loose mortar on the existing wall surface. For ceilings, it is most important that the concrete slab should be clean, dry and free from mould oil. It is advisable to wet the wall and ceiling surface, to achieve good workability. Always mix powder to water and not water to powder, and powder should be thoroughly mixed with water and should be free from lumps and foreign material before use. Normal consistency or water plaster ratio of the plaster should be I e for 1000grams of powder grams of water, is recommend for better performance. Always back-fold bag after taking out the material to keep it free from moisture and atmosphere. Only the required material should be prepared, as per the area of application is ready to plaster. Set plaster shortens the setting time and thus reduces the workability. Do not add water to delay the setting time, after the initial setting time is completed, as the material will loose its bonding properties and strength. Suggest that plaster of Paris masons to do good workmanship as compared to pop works. For top coat after applying of Gypsum vermiculite plaster, a thin coat of same material should be prepared, in paste form and should be applied Bags should be stored in Dry place, and free from water, after using the powder from the bag, the incomplete bag should be tied and closed. After complete drying (depends on weather conditions & thickness of plaster), usually Hours, The surface can be painted.
