Product Data: Submit manufacturer's product specifications, standard details, certified product test results, installation instructions, and general recommendations, as applicable to materials and finishes for each component and for total operating system. B. LEED Documentation: Provide certification documentation that insulation materials and adhesives meet LEED requirements as set forth in Section QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Protect insulations from physical damage and from becoming wet, soiled, or covered with ice or snow. Comply with manufacturer's recommendations for handling, storage and protection during installation. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 FOUNDATION WALL A. Expanded polystyrene foam insulation. Below grade application. 1. Thickness: 2 inches(50mm). 2. R-value: R-10 minimum. 3. Size: 24 inches x 96 inches(50 x 2438mm). 4. Edges: Square. 5. Minimum 30% recycled content. 6. Expanding agent: Pentane gas. B. Manufacturers: 1. Polar Guard Rigid EPS, (800) Perform Guard EPS (716) Amoco Foam Products. (800) BLANKET TYPE THERMAL A. Kraft-faced, flexible, glass fiber blankets/batts, with minimum 30% recycled content and formaldehyde free. 1. ASTM C665-Type II, Class C, Category 1, non-exposed applications only. 2. Surface Burning Characteristics: in accordance with ASTM E84. a. Flame spread: non-rated. b. Smoke Developed: non-rated. 3. General: Minimum coverage of insulation on roofs with roof drains shall be 1/4 inch(6mm) above roof drain top rim. 1. Fire Ratings: Comply with fire-resistance and flammability ratings indicated. 2. Compatibility: All insulation shall be compatible with roofing membrane system, and only roof insulation approved, in writing, by the roofing membrane manufacturer shall be used. B. Tapered Polyisocyanurate Roof Insulation: Rigid, cellular thermal insulation with polyisocyanurate closed-cell foam core and manufacturer's standard facing laminated to both sides; complying with FS HH-I-1972/2. 1. Thermal Value: 5.8 R-value per inch(25.4mm). Refer to Article 1.04 System Description for Roof R-values. 2. Thickness: Provide tapered polyisocyanurate insulation, thickness as required to provide positive water drainage to roof drains. Minimum 1/2 inch(12mm) thick at low point (coordinated with average R-value requirements). a. Tapered 1/8 inch(3mm) to the foot(.304m), unless otherwise noted on drawings. 3. Material: Fiberglass base sheet 28 lb.(12.7kg) factory laminated to wood fiberboard substrate with asphalt-type adhesive. c. Nominal Thickness: 1/2 inch(13mm). d. Size: 3 ft. x 8.5 ft(0.9 x 2.5m). e. Edges: Base sheet shall be offset from the panel 3/4 inch(19mm) on two adjacent edges. Other edges shall be cut square. f. UL classified file R Cants (For Modified Bitumen Sheet Roofing) a. Perlite or Fiberglass cant strips, suitable for torch application of roofing membrane. b. Wood fiber cant strips not permitted. c. 5 3. Tapered Edge Strips (For Modified Bitumen Sheet Roofing) PART 3 - EXECUTION a. Perlite or Fiberglass tapered edge strips, suitable for torch application of roofing membrane. b. Wood fiber cant strips not permitted. c. Thickness: 1-5/8 inch(41mm)tapered to 1/8 inch(3mm) (on 18 inch(457mm) dimensions). d. Size: 18 inches x 48 inches(457 x1219mm). e. ASTM C INSPECTION AND PREPARATION A. Installer must examine substrates and conditions under which insulation work is to be performed, and must notify Contractor in writing of unsatisfactory conditions. Do not proceed with insulation work until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected in manner acceptable to Installer INSTALLATION, GENERAL A. Comply with manufacturer's instructions for particular conditions of installation in each case. B. Extend insulation full thickness as shown over entire area to be insulated. Cut and fit tightly around obstructions, and fill voids with insulation. Remove projections which interfere with placement. C. Apply a single layer of insulation of required thickness, unless otherwise shown or required to make up total thickness FOUNDATION WALL A. On vertical surfaces, set units in adhesive applied in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Use type of adhesive recommended by manufacturer of insulation with low VOC content. B. Install 2 feet(610mm) wide horizontally and approximately 2 feet(610mm) high vertically. C. Protect top surface of horizontal insulation (from damage during concrete work) by application of protection board BLANKET TYPE THERMAL A. General: Staple flange blankets to metal framing. B. Set vapor retarder faced units with vapor retarder to warm side (heater side in winter) of construction, except as otherwise indicated. Do not obstruct ventilation spaces. C. Tape joints and ruptures in vapor retarder, and seal each ( )
