1 Technica support The British Gypsum Drywa Academy provides a singe point of contact for queries on the appication and use of the Company s products and systems. An experienced technica team is on hand to dea with enquiries from architects, buiders merchants and distributors, buiders, contractors - in fact anyone invoved in the specification and instaation of British Gypsum systems. 52

3 Product training British Gypsum s Drywa Academy has been at the centre of training and deveopment of paster and dryining systems for over 40 years. The company s three purpose-buit training centres at Erith in Kent, East Leake near Nottingham and Kirkby Thore in Cumbria, aongside sateite centres in Gasgow and Liverpoo, offer training of unequaed professionaism and quaity. Speciaised training in dryining, suspended ceiings, fire protection, and decorative finishing is aimed at improving the knowedge and skis of: tradesmen and contractors specifiers site supervisory staff merchanting and distribution personne technica support staff saes personne 54

British Gypsum s goa is to deiver a tota training package, so, for exampe, deegates on a supervisory course not ony receive a the necessary training, but wi have a the reference and support materias at hand to undertake the tasks back in the work environment. Courses are run throughout the year at a training centres. In addition, where there are six or more deegates, British Gypsum can arrange bespoke training for many of the company s systems at the workpace itsef. 5 Drywa Academy training courses - ca for detais Systems training - wa inings British Gypsum DriLyner 'dot and dab' systems This two day course covers the standard methods for dryining brick and bockwork backgrounds. Combine this course with the Hand Jointing course for the idea introduction to dryining. Suitabiity: There are no forma entry requirements and this is an exceent course for newcomers who wish to deveop a career in dryining. British Gypsum GypLyner wa ining system A one day course covering detais of this very popuar wa ining system. Particuary suited to refurbishment work where was may be bady out of pumb or where extensive services need to be accommodated. This course is run in conjunction with the British Gypsum CasoLine MF course. Suitabiity: No forma entry requirements, but trainees shoud have a basic understanding of site practices. Systems training - partitioning British Gypsum GypWa meta stud partition system This two day course gives an introduction to the widey specified GypWa meta stud interna partitioning system. This course is run in conjunction with the British Gypsum CasoLine MF course. Suitabiity: No forma entry requirements, but trainees shoud have a basic understanding of site practices. 56

6 Technica support: T F E bgtechnica.enquiries@bpb.com Systems training - ceiings British Gypsum CasoLine MF ceiing system A one day course to cover one of the easiest ways to form a fush, seamess suspended ceiing. The CasoLine MF system consists of ightweight meta sections suspended on stee hangers on to which Gyproc pasterboard is screwed. This course is run in conjunction with the British Gypsum GypWa meta stud partition course. Suitabiity: No forma entry requirements, but trainees shoud have a basic understanding of site practices. Finishing Hand jointing and finishing pasterboards This two day course covers a aspects of finishing pasterboards to provide a smooth, seamess, crack resistant finish using Gyproc jointing systems. Suitabiity: No forma entry requirements, but this course is a must for anyone invoved with interna finishing. It is aso suitabe as a foow up course to the DriLyner wa ining system and GypWa meta stud courses. Mechanica jointing This three day course covers the use and basic maintenance requirements of Gyproc Speed Tape toos. Suitabe for arger contracts, Speed Tape toos produce a high quaity finish at twice the speed of hand jointing. Suitabiity: Trainees shoud have undertaken the hand jointing course or have had site experience of drywa finishing. 57

7 Skim finishing and basic trowe skis This three day course is designed as an introduction to skimming of pasterboard using Thiste Board Finish and Thiste Muti-Finish. It is one of the most popuar ways of finishing pasterboard prior to decoration, as it gives a smooth, high quaity appearance simiar to that of two-coat wet pastering. Suitabiity: The course is designed for improvers who have basic jointing and finishing skis. Artex decorative finishes - brush work This two day course introduces the trainee to a new dimension in decorative finishes utiising a range of the most popuar random designs. Suitabiity: This is an essentia course for a beginners and must be competed before the advanced comb work course can be undertaken. Artex decorative finishes - comb work This is an advanced two day course that introduces the trainee to the artistic designs achievabe with Artex texture. Suitabiity: This course is for texturers experienced in brush work and wishing to deveop their skis. Artex decorative finishes - cornice and coving A one day course to provide the skis required to fix cast and paper encased paster cove and cornice products. Suitabiity: The course is suitabe for site operatives wishing to deveop additiona skis in decorative finishes. Artex Smooth-It course A one day course to provide the skis required to 'smooth' a previousy textured ceiing. Suitabiity: The course is suitabe for site operatives wishing to deveop their skis. 58
