9 3 material SPORTFI channels and trash boxes are manufactured from 100 % recycled PE-PP which makes them lightweight and easy to install. The material is highly durable, UV-stabilised, environmentally neutral and impervious to liquids. Steel frames are incorporated at the top of the channels and ensure that covers/gratings are securely locked to the base. REQUIREMENTS On sports fields and sports arenas it is mandatory that surface water is drained away quickly and reliably. Drainage channels used for this purpose have to comply with current standards as well as meet the IAAF requirements. Sports facilities should be designed and equipped to ensure that athletes do not sustain serious injuries during falls or accidents. SOLUTION The SPORTFI range offers products that meet these requirements, e.g. drainage channels made from 100 % recycled PE-PP, soft kerbs with elastic rubber padding, sand traps, water jump kits and distribution boxes. 11 SPORTFI slotted channel in the Estádio da Luz BESPOKE SOLUTIONS Estádio da Luz, Lisbon, Portugal: slotted channel with raised turf edge for barrier-free transition to the pitch. In the stadium which is the home of the famous football club Benfica Lisbon and where the final match of the European Cup 2004 took place, the whole inside was drained using HAURATON SPORTFI channels. All transitions to the pitch had to be visually unobtrusive and barrier-free that was the briefing by the design team. The solution was provided by a SPORTFI channel de signed and manufactured with a turf edge that matches the height of the adjacent green drainage mats exactly. The product provides a neat separation of the pitch from the surrounding tracks and yet is nearly invisible. And at the same time, surface water is reliably drained away. SPORTFI dish channel with seepage groove for tear-free connection of elastic layer surface finishes. SPORTFI dish channels are simple but effective drai nage products. A new version of the SPORTFI dish channel was designed for a project in Weißkeißel in Saxony where an elastic layer sports surface had to be installed: the additional locking groove now ensures that the elastic layer surface material is connected without the risk of tearing. They are resistant to frost and road salt, do not absorb water and are unbreakable. Their smooth surface means that they do not harbour any dirt. SPORTFI plas tic covers are light-weight and are easy and quick to fit. SPORTFI plastic covers engage automatically in the matching part of the base segment of the SPORTFI channel. The tongue and groove system ensures that the installation is accurate and neat. Slot ted channels are locked to the base via stainless steel brackets. Transitions between box and slot channels can be achieved by simply fitting an trash box at the junction. At the same time, the model Rom SPORTFI channels and trash boxes provide reliable drainage for the pitch or playing field. The artificial turf material is fixed with the help of the slotted grating. 15 faserfixsuper SPORTFI ks 100 Abdeckung SPORTFI SOFT KERBS SPORTFI soft kerbs with rubber padding are used for lining the edge of jump pits, sandpits as well as the outer edge of running tracks. Likewise they are used as permanent separations between distinct parts of sports facilities. The rubber padding protects athletes and children from serious injuries when falling. SPORTFI soft kerbs consist of fibre-reinforced concrete with a 60 wide and 30 high white or black rubber padding in Ethylene-Propylene-Diene-Monomer (EPDM). This material is temperature-resistant between 30 C and C and is extremely elastic. The air cushioning significantly reduces the risk of injury for athletes and children. SPORTFI soft kerbs are available in sizes from 200 to 400 high. The range includes corner fittings to guarantee exact joints at corners. The rubber padding of SPORTFI kerbs for shot put rings is 100 wide and 50 high. The kerbs measure 250 in height and are available in a white and a black finish. Colour white , Colour black ,

16 CIVILS LANDSCAPING aqua sport SPORTFI SPORTFI SAND TRAPS SPORTFI sand traps prevent sand from being spread over the adjoining track surfaces when people leave the jump pit as this leads to damage of the elastic layer surfacing material. The base segments of the SPORTFI sand traps consist of polypropylene. They are 500 wide and 500, 560 or 1000 long and are equipped with a pre-formed DN 100 pipe connection. On one side the SPORTFI sand trap channels feature a metal profile edge which allows for a neat connection of adjoining running track surface finishes. Sand traps are supplied complete with a mesh grating including a firmly fitted rubber mat. Galvanised end caps are available as accessories. SPORTFI sand traps can be installed in single - or double rows. They can be used to easily, quickly and economically construct a water ditch that meets international requirements. The dimensions comply with DIN 18035, part 8. For women s competitions the required adaptation set can be integrated (can be obtained from e.g. artec Sportgeräte GmbH, Melle, Germany). The top edges of the elements are dressed with white Soft profiles. The ditch can be emptied via a DN 70 outlet. The base of the water ditch has to be formed with in-situ concrete supplied by others. They are designed with a 5 cm wide outer edge upstand that marks the running track line. Also available are SPORTFI dish channels with a locking groove that can be used for connecting the channels to plastic surface finishes. SPORTFI distribution boxes are manufactured from fibre-reinforced concrete. The top edges are protected by a galvanised steel angle housing all round. The SPORTFI distribution box type E consists of 2 parts and has pipe connection blanks for DN 70 and DN 100 pipes on all sides. The cover is made of galvanised checker plate and is strong enough to support vehicles. The cover needs to be filled on site with a suitable filler material to be supplied by others. The cover is equipped with a carrying handle, fitting board and cable stay. SPORTFI distribution box type W consists of one piece. It also has pipe connection blanks for DN 70 and DN 100 pipes on all sides. The galvanised checker plate cover can be walked on and features a carrying handle. An extension ring is available for both distribution boxes where higher boxes are needed.
