Certification Body means an independent 3rd party agency accredited by the Standards Council of Canada that has the qualifications, skills, and expertise required to confirm that a pipe manufacturer produces pipe products to the quality and requirements of an accepted standard and that has the mandate to certify the pipe products produced. Certified means pipe products that have been marked with a certification body s logo confirming that the production of the pipe product is in accordance with the quality and requirements of the manufacturing standard. Delivered Quality means the pipe products physical condition upon arrival at the construction site in terms of the extent and degree of dents, scratches, cracks, pipe coating integrity, etc., that appear on the pipe products delivered. Polypropylene Plastic means a material made with virgin polymers in which propylene is essentially the sole monomer Pipe Materials Corrugated Steel Pipe Products Clause of OPSS 410 is amended by the addition of the following: Steel structural plate pipe with polymer coating is acceptable when the pipe sewer tender item as specified in the Contract Documents identifies the pipe type component as C and where the 6 th digit of the pipe material code component is identified as 3 or greater from the following list: July 2013 Page 1 of 5 SSP 410S02

2 1 1.6 mm thick mm thick 3 2.8, 3.0 or 3.18 mm thick 4 3.5, 3.81 or 4.0 mm thick 5 4.2, 4.45 or 5.0 mm thick or 6.0 mm thick or 7.0 mm thick mm thick The 6 th digit of the pipe material code is hierarchical where pipe materials of higher code values are Polyethylene Pipe Products Clause of OPSS 410 is amended by the addition of the following: Polyethylene pipe products are acceptable when the pipe sewer tender item as specified in the Contract Documents identifies the pipe type component as S and where the 3 rd digit of the pipe material code component is identified as one of the following: 1 AASHTO M294 RSC 160; 2 ASTM F894 RSC 160 and 250; 3 CSA 210 and 320 kpa; or 4 ASTM F714 DR The 3 rd digit of the polyethylene pipe material code is hierarchical where polyethylene pipe materials of higher code values are Polyvinyl Chloride Pipe Products Clause of OPSS 410 is amended by the addition of the following: Polyvinyl chloride pipe is acceptable when the pipe sewer tender item as specified in the Contract Documents identifies the pipe type component as S and where the 2 nd digit of the pipe material code component is identified as a 1 from the following list: 1 PVC SDR 28, 35 and 41; or 2 PP 320 kpa. The 2 nd digit of the pipe material code is hierarchical where pipe materials of higher code values are Subsection of OPSS 410 is amended by the addition of the following clauses: Polypropylene Pipe Products Polypropylene plastic pipe products shall be produced according to CSA B for open and closed profile sewer and drainage pipe and fittings. 3 Polypropylene pipe is acceptable when the pipe sewer tender item as specified in the Contract Documents identifies the pipe type component as S and where the 2 nd digit of the pipe material code component is identified as one of the following: 1 PVC SDR 28, 35 and 41; or 2 PP 320 kpa. The 2 nd digit of pipe material code is hierarchical where pipe materials of higher code values are acceptable, unless otherwise stated in the Contract Documents. The pipe diameter, stiffness, material, and type for all polypropylene plastic pipe products shall be as specified in the Contract Documents. All polypropylene plastic pipe products used on the Contract shall be certified and supplied from a manufacturer that produces the polypropylene plastic pipe products according to CSA B Only products with an accepted certification body logo marking as shown in Figure 1 shall be used. Profile polypropylene plastic pipe products shall be tested according to CSA B Certified polypropylene plastic pipe products shall be marked according to CSA B As a minimum, the following markings shall be placed: a) Pipe nominal size. b) Standard designation (e.g., CSA B182.13). c) Manufacturer. d) Accredited certification body s logo. When requested by the Owner, the Contractor shall provide a copy of the certificate of compliance issued by the certification body confirming that the manufacturer produces certified polypropylene plastic pipe products. The cost of all testing, except that performed by the Owner, shall be included in the price.
